Summary: Clearly the first part of a series
Review: This book is a very typical Clancy work. If you like his past work, you will enjoy this one.

One prime difference is the length. It is only about 430 pages, which is about half the length of his typical novels. And the length is indicative of the story, it works like a book that has already been completely written and this is just the first part.

In addition, this book is about Jack Jr. not President Ryan. The backstory (as told in the other books) is referenced in this book, but even that back story seems ineffective at building Jack Jr. I think the reader is expected to assume that Junior is a younger version of Jack Sr. And as such, there is not a serious attempt at building this character separately from his father.

I probably have been overly critical in this review. Clancy's works are full of suspense and intrigue, and generally written well. This one is also, but it could have been better.

Summary: This tiger has teeth
Review: I was very disappointed with Clancy's last book (Red Rabbit). This time, Clancy has found the mark again. I won't do a book report and tell you what the book is about. You can read it yourself and see that it is very much worth your time. I'm so used to Clancy giving me over a thousand pages that I was a little disappointed that this one was a short work for him (431 pages). The only problem I had with the book is that Clancy seems to have kept his same lead character and just added the name Junior to him. Jack Jr is so much like his father. His character could have been further developed to differentiate him more from the Jack Ryan we all know from Clancy's greats. Also, I find it hard to believe The Campus would have 3 key players all related to the man who set it up.

Summary: The nest generation...
Review: This book started with all the background and layout that happens so frequently in a Clancy novel. If the characters had been slightly less interesting, the story would have died there. I do wish there had been a little more setup on The Campus, but this book seems to have been written more to send it to a movie than to read. Far more superficial than usual, despite the setup, the ending ensures I will buy the next book.

Summary: Very disappointed
Review: It seems to this reader Mr. Clancy has dropped the ball in his latest fictional effort. Fans of the Jack Ryan series may be disappointed to know many of the favorite characters have been dismissed in favor of new, younger characters. Now, in theory I have no problem with a new series of books being developed..however, I felt Mr. Clancy just dismissed many of the old characters..explaining their not being in this book in one and two line sentences- so and so retired, so and so died..no other explanation necessary. Poof, they're gone. I was also disappointed by the lack of complexity in this novel..let's face it, one my favorite challenges with a Clancy novel is working the multiple story lines till the exciting climax...as far as I was concerned, no excitement was really present in this book. Yes I did finish the book in the normal amount of time it takes me to finish one of his novels...but it was more like a chore than enjoyment. I kept waiting for the big bang and just got a fizzle. The characters were never really fleshed out, seemed stilted to me. The angst that used to be presented when reading about Jack Ryan..the moral challenges...the dilemnas he faced...none of that was present here with the new characters. I have to say..I've been a Clancy fan for 16 years....this is the first time I've ever thought about asking for a refund on one of his books. Not a better work..have to wonder if he really wrote this himself.

Summary: Really great read!!
Review: After Red Rabbit I wasn't so sure about trying Tom Clancy again. Teeth of the Tiger kept me spellbound from start to finish. Great action!!

Summary: Not the best - but not the worst
Review: This is not the best of Clancy's books (The Hunt For Red October) but it is far from the worst (Red Rabbit). This book introduces new characters and a new organization into the already crowded mix brought to us by Mr. Clancy.

Lots of things have happened that are only hinted at (President Ryan resigned from office, VP shot by racist, new President in office is known to readers).

The ending is a great setup for a sequel. Time will tell - but I will not get my hopes up.

All in all - not a total waste of money.

Summary: Decent new thriler
Review: Tom Clancy's latest work is very topical but somewhat jarring for longtime fans of his Ryan novels. The book is comparitively brief at around 480 pages especially compared to his last few epic works. The novel stars Jack Ryan's son and his cousins who have joined a new "black" counterterrorism offshoot of the CIA and NSA. Clancy's old characters do not appear in this book. Instead Jack jr. and family work to eliminate various bad guys in an al-Qaeda esque group. Strangely, the characters in this book mention Afghanistan and 9-11 frequently despite various awful things having happened in Tom Clancy's universe that would presumably have overshadowed even these events, including a nuclear detonation at the superbowl, an airliner crashing into a joint session of congress, and an ebola outbreak to name just a few calamities. Nevertheless, when the action happens it is fast and furious, and Clancy leaves plenty of room for a sequel.

Summary: Another Real Good Clancy Standard
Review: This is another standard Clancy novel, albeit a little shorter. A long slow build-up, followed by fast blistering action and a quick ending that leaves you starving for more.

New, but not unfamiliar characters are developed and presented by the master of the "techno-thriller" genre. I believe this has given a little spark to Mr. Clancy's writing style and as a result, this is one of his better story lines. The ending was too abrupt. I could have used at least another twenty-five pages to bring down the heart rate a little.

Overall, a very nice read. I hungrily look forward to another book featuring Jack Jr. and the Twins.

Summary: Clancy's WORST
Review: Being an avid reader of all of Clancy's books I was unpleasantly surprised by this book. It is very predictable from the beginning to end. The characters are unbelievable and not developed. There is obviously going to be a sequel with this book but I'm going to wait for the paperback in a used book store.

Summary: Ramble, repeat, relive, regurgitate
Review: Tom Clancy says this is his last book for a while because he needs a rest. I fully agree. I have been a Clancy fan from the beginning and always enjoyed his work. Until now!

The books starts slow and stays slow. The characters are as shallow as the plot. It seems that half the book was spent reflecting about Clancy's earlier characters and ... discussion about the morality of assassinating terrorists. Then we had 50 pages of terrorists driving across the country with the only excitement being which Interstate turn came next.

I suspect Clancy's name will help sell some copies. The quality of the book sure won't.
