Summary: Did I miss something?
Review: As a fan of nearly every syllable Tom Clancy writes, I cannot fathom where these cousins came from. They aren't mentioned (that I can recall) in any of the previous books, nor is it brought out in "Teeth". That there is history is evident - the twins make mention of events in the childhood of Katie, and there appears to be an easy camaderie of three young men who were close friends growing up.

I just would like to know a bit more about them. Introducing them in this manner is a bit soap opera-ish!

Beyond that, it's the usual excellent read - can't wait for the sequel!

Summary: In a word, AWFUL!!!
Review: I have been a fan of Clancy's books for years, but this one is waste of time and money. Better to wait for the movie, and then skip it.

Summary: New editors, please!
Review: I perfectly agree with most of the 1-star reviews.
To add just one new aspect: Clacy likes to pretend that he can speak many different languages. But most of the German sentences are either incorrect or totally outdated - a bad job done by the editors who might have asked a native speaker to have a look first. (If Clancy wants to show that even his know-it-all characters are "human" and make mistakes, most readers wont get this subtle irony I guess ;-)

This careless use of language (I haven't checked but I guess it is the same with other languages) adds to all the little mistakes described below strengthening the impression of a very weary Tom Clancy.

My suggestion: Read Andy McNab instead!

Summary: Tom, what were you thinking?
Review: From a new author this book would rate 3-4 stars. You'd forgive the wooden dialoge and the plot you can often predict 100 pages in advance. You'd remember that there were a couple clever ideas and one or two terrific scenes.

But this isn't just any author or a new one. So, none of that is understandable or forgiveable. Contrary to a few reviewers, I don't think this is a bad book, per se, but if the manuscript had been sent to Clancy for review I would have expected his advice to be sharp criticism, a recommendation for a major rewrite or condensation to a novelette length. Indeed, there's about 200 pages of good story here buried in 425 pages of book.

Basically, the story's not bad, just too long in the telling and too few fresh ideas presented. Clancy's strength has never been character development but this one essentially has no development--all the major character feel like retreads. Tom's strength is creating an incredible sense of reality thru extraordinarly detailed descriptions with a suspense build up until it all peaks in his trademark action scenes. This book builds too slowly, peaks in almost the exact middle and then goes on for 200 pages where I kept waiting for another build and peak--must be in the next book because its not here.

Speaking of that, the way the book ends clearly indicates that there's a sequel/series planned featuring the next generation of his favorite characters. Nothing wrong with that but this book should have been the first 200 pages of that next book.

I've been a fan of Clancy's since the beginning and it pains me to say it but either this author has succumbed to the temptation of just publishing to keep the revenue coming in or he's finally run out of ideas and creativity.

We hoped and expected better of you, Tom.

Summary: This can't be from Clancy's hands
Review: When I read this book. I expect Tom Clancy quality, but this book really help me sleep well. It's boring and so predictable that I'm sure was write by someone else. What a shame.

Summary: My god....
Review: My god... this book was terrible! PLEASE save your money!

Summary: A bad book by a good author
Review: In this book, set in an alternative universe years after the Ryan presidency, Jack Ryan's son joins a private company that does assainations for the US. And they're the good guys. They have a secret stash of blank presidental pardons left over from the Ryan administration to supposedly make this legal. This weak plot device is the central theme of the book.

"Teeth of the Tiger" is labelled as a real Tom Clancy book, but it reads like his outsourced "NetForce" books. The careful plotting and merging subplots of his earlier best-sellers are missing. The plotting is forced, and the characters are one-dimensional. Something has gone terribly wrong here.

Summary: Mr. Clancy, you ought to be ashamed
Review: Tom Clancy has either lost his touch, or just doesn't give a damn any more. Facts are inconsistent, the writing is lame, the ending is underwhelming and visible 100 pages before you get there. I only kept reading in the hope something worthwhile would happen, but it never did. The other reviews give plenty of examples of why this book sucks out loud, so I won't add to them, but really Tom, let's put some effort into the next one. Please?

Summary: I enjoyed it!
Review: A Clancy fan from way back, I was eager to read this book. While it isn't my favorite of his, it does have its moments. At times, extrememly disturbing (think, the terrorist acts that happen in the book)it was nevertheless enjoyable. No, it's not a classic piece of great literature, but it is what it is: a good read that moves along at a clip. Overall I'd recommend this one.

Also recommended: The Firm, Bark of the Dogwood, The Da Vinci Code.

Summary: Could be better----
Review: I must agree that it could have been better. The main idea of the counter terror was very agreeable to me. I certainly hope that we are doing all that the twins were fictionally doing. Some of the dialog did strike me wrong. "Bro" "Big Rog" Etc. but I am a senior now and do not really know what 20 year old "speak" is. All in all I did enjoy the book, maybe as I look at Clancy and his accomplishments I am stilted toward the fact that he can not write a bad one.
