Summary: A tired attempt
Review: Jack Ryan's son and his two cousins (ex-FBI and ex-Marine) join "the Campus" as its first analyst and hitmen. The campus is a privately funded entity with deep tentacles into CIA, NSA, and FBI. With its "trading company" profits it does what the agencies cannot -- basically, kill bad guys. Here, a rogue terrorist outfit launches a group of four attacks on U.S. shopping malls (can they be all bad?), at one of which all the baddies are killed by the two cousins. Ryan's son analyzes internet traffic and the two cousins are sent to hit four operations guys which they do successfully, using injected succinylcholine. Lots of action and atmosphere and a decent introduction of the characters, but after the first third of the book not much danger or challenge for the protagonists. You might want to read a free copy.

Summary: Where is the rest of the story?
Review: I feel ripped off. There is only a third or maybe even half of a good book here. I feel like clancy must be trying to squeeze money out of his loyal readers. The book leaves you knowing that a sequel is just around the corner, but to not to tell us that up front is a rip off. Not Clancy's (previous) style at all.

Jack Jr. cannot be any blood relation to Jack Ryan Sr.! He appears as a comic figure in a world of murder and terrorism. The whole scene in the restaurant is laughable and idiotic. There are questions about Jack Sr. and many of our other favorite players brought up but left unanswered. The other characters display a severe lack of knowledge of spookdom through experience they supposedly possess. This book is a complete departure from the real-world writings of Clancy's previous novels. John Clark would be ashamed of being associated with these yokels.

All in all, this book is a big disappointment. I am a huge fan of Tom Clancy, I have all of his books in my library, and until know have enjoyed them completely. There is poor character development in many of the players, and worst of all the ending that leaves the audience hanging. The plot is basically a good one, but it is also not clearly developed, but rushed through and incomplete. Even Red Rabbit was better than this. For what we pay for books these days, we deserve a lot more that this.

Summary: ZZZzzzzzz...
Review: The Bad: This book was excruciating for me...the flyleaf provided the best reading to be found between the covers, and I doubt that Clancy wrote THAT. The dialogue was stilted and horribly dated, the worst I've read since Patrick Robinson's laughable "Nimitz Class." Clancy should get out more. The protagonists are lifeless and unlikable. The antagonists are shallow and unbelievable. I was begging for this book to end, and when it did...finally...all I could do was shake my head.
The Good: I just couldn't find ANYTHING good about this book. Save your money.

Summary: what happen Clancy?
Review: I read this book with real excitement, and still a little disappointed with Red Rabbit, so I gave Clancy another chance, and beside this was Tom Clancy; the master of the techno-thriller! The Teeth Of The Tiger is by far THE WORST book I have ever READ! I read a lot also; about 200 books a year, and this is just stupid! The book is about Brian and Dominac, and Jack Jr. joining this secret organization called 'The Campus' which was set up by Jack Ryan. So now as they train, terrorist set up connections with the Columbian drug lords so they can bring them to America and attack a mall full of citizens shopping. So now, as the story moves along, we discover the terrorist killing them, and Brian and Dominac spring into action killing the terrorists. So now, Jack Jr. Brian and Dominac head to Europe to kill the main planner. The end.

So what makes this book so BAD!? The writing, and also boring story telling. Clancy did not take his time writing this novel, he rushed it just to get it out, and he rambled about stupid stuff like this 'Brian and Dominac were watching the History Channel.' For one, they are NOT HISTORY BUFFS because history buffs talk about HISTORY, which they DONT! Also if they are supposed to be smart, why are they saying 'right on bro.' Intelligence people dont refer themselves by calling each other 'bro's'. So Clancy, get your stuff right, and stop writing this crap!

Summary: Words fail to convey how bad this book is
Review: Hving enjoyed most of Tom's books in the past I was absolutely appalled by this books content or perhaps it would be better to say lack of content. The plot is tranparent, the characters superficial, the content unbelievable and the flow from section to section choppy and chaotic. I gave Mr. Clancy a pass on Rabbitt thinking it an exception to his other great books. Now it seems clear the well is dry from producing too many books too quickly. Tom take you time and find the old magic. Readers, save your money. Check it our at the library if your feel you must.

Summary: not great, but give it a chance
Review: I have been a Clancy fan since Red Storm Rising and by no means is this his stongest book. The mall scene, while extremely good and made me think of Debt of Honor and 9/11, was also extremely coincedental. Plus, the media would obviously would search for who saved all the good people of Carolina, while you would think the local police would wonder where they went and question more. Also, in the end, why would a straight shooter like Jack, Jr. all of a sudden become so bold/stupid? and how did no one in the restaurant here a thing from the bathroom?

The good: The plot is clever enough, just needs tweeking. The action is ok, but too quick. The ending leaves you wanting more, which is good.

I would have loved to have the behind the scenes backlash(both White House and media) of the terrorist act played out more, but maybe that is for the next book.

Obviously Clancy has lost a step, but he is still better than a lot out there.

Summary: Asleep at the wheel
Review: A staggering work of mind-numbing flotsam and jetsam. Part TV Guide, part Zagat's, part Fast Food Nation, part Fodor's, part Mr. Coffee's Holiday, this thing is brain novocain.

When you wake up, read Alan Furst's Kingdom of Shadows or Ted Bell's Hawke.

If TC keeps this up, he's a goner.

Summary: What happen Clancy?
Review: The Teeth Of The Tiger is about Jack Jr. and his cousins Brian and Dominac. Brian, a former Marine, who was fighting in Afghanistan, and his brother Dominac, a FBI agent, and Jack Jr. join this secret covert agency called 'The Campus'. Now, in Europe, a man named Mohammed is setting up talks with Colobian drug lords and his terrorist friends to attack America where it hurts. The terrorist then join the drug lords, and they help them get through the U.S. and Mexican border, and a car to head to Washington D.C. to kill.
Now as Brian and Dominac train, they decide to go to the mall to get some new shoes, and that is where they discover the terrorist killing innocent civilians, eventually they are killed themselves, and now Jack Jr. Brian and Dominac head to Europe to kill the main terrorist.

That is the whole story. The story is BORING, but it only gets good when Brian and Dominac are faced against the terrorist. The book read's like a A+ certification book; dry and boring unless you like fixing PC's. Books should be fun Clancy, not boring like this. Also there is no ending? WHAT you say? The ending ends with the terrorist dead, usually this ends with a climax ending, but there is was none! NONE! Dont read this junk, read something better.

Summary: Hopefully, the last of a bad trend....
Review: When you have enjoyed Tom's books as much as I have up to this point you have to hope this is the end of a bad streak for him. This and "Rabbit" were such disappointments. I read and read, expecting him to grab me and take off into exciting adventures again but it just never happens. You can see what's going to happen a mile away and that ain't the Clancy I used to know. I applaud his introduction of Jack, Jr instead of dusting off the aging senior to do missions that would be impossible, but Tom needs to slow down and craft a real barnburner next time. I'm willing to wait...

Summary: Lame ! And Clancy's fears show through
Review: Don't spend money on this one !!! It is worthless. I kept hoping that Clancy's prose would improve in the next page, the next chapter. Needless to say I was disappointed.

The quality of the book is pathetic. The worst bit is the way Clancy side steps the problem of a black US president.

Amazon.com, please add a 0 (zero) Star rating to your review page. This book deserves it !
