Summary: And I am being generous
Review: It is a pity that this review system doesn't allow for negative stars, because Clancy's last book deserves a minus ten (at least).
Let alone the ethical and ideological issues (governmental officials with a license to kill in foreign soil, racism, arbitrary definition of what is good and bad while killing people without a previous trial, etc, etc.).
At the beginning the plot has some interesting lines to follow (drug dealers, terrorists, an investment boutique making money to finance black operations), but unfortunately after the first pages everything dissolves in a boring and repetitive story.
The language used is so basic and poor that it does not seem to belong to a published book but to an elementary school literature contest.
Reading it was painful and took me longer than usual just because it was boring and, as I said, poorly written.
Do yourself a favour and invest your £19 in one of those Lonely Planet travel guides. There are no product placements and you can get to know London, Rome or Vienna without Clancy's boring prose.

Summary: amazing
Review: i personally think that this is the one of the best books that clancy has ever written. it was captavating from the first page to the last. the only problem was that clancy did his normal skipping from one character to the next... besides that it was an action packed novel which i would recomend to everyone who loves action novels.

Summary: Quintessence of crapulence
Review: Mr. Clancy has taken leave of his senses - at least he has disavowed his core beliefs. A cannon of his fiction wherein law and order and the primacy of the Constitution stands in stark contrast to this thin volume wherein a parastatal currency trading firm with a vault full of blank presidential pardons and orders to assassinate a hat trick of low-level thugs runs amok in Europe. Through three wholly seperate channels, three members of Ryan's immediate family are recuited simultaneously into the same arbitrage & assassination firm. On the flimsiest evidence imaginable, these three are loosed on Europe to assassinate, Georgiy Markov style (although it is a pen not an umbrella that delivers the deadly and undetectable biotoxin - Much as Clancy's pen has delivered this toxic screed). Product placements abound - the Caruso twins are entry-level g-man and humble Marine junior officer - both are driving Mercedes. The twins and Jack Ryan, jr. fly first-class, drive Porsches, and wine and dine themselves across the Continent on their government credit cards, stopping only briefly to dispatch their prey with a "Q"-division MontBlanc to the buttocks. Then it's back to their Hapsburg-era hotel for V.S.O.P. and more fine dining. With the exception of "Without Remorse," Clancy's novels have always upheld the rule of law. In his new reality, a brace of spoiled dilletantes decide who lives and who dies. To say the dialog is turgid would be to retire a perfectly good adjective beloved of reviewers everywhere (I've worked with the special ops community for years and have never heard one utter as an affirmative "Hang a big 'Roger' on that, 'bro.") The three main characters are spoiled, amateurish, pretentious dilletantes. Their rare ambivalence with the morality of what they are doing lift them briefly into the world of two-dimensionality. The majority of the time, they remain precociously one-dimensional. Enjoy at your peril.

Summary: Not his best, but still entertaining
Review: Though it doesn't measure up to Tom Clancy's best, this is an easy, entertaining read that moves quickly and never lacks excitement. If you are looking for a realistic look at covert operations or are expecting another one of Clancy's masterpieces, you will probably be disappointed. But if you're looking to give your mind a break via an escape into a fast-moving action story pertaining to today's terrorist threat, this is a good choice.

Summary: I'm 12 and I know better
Review: I have read all of Tom Clancy's books, and this is the worst. I'm 12 years old and I love the Ryan story line and all the military stuff, but this is really bad. His best books were Hunt for Red October and Patriot Games if you ask me. Don't waste your allowance on this crap.

Summary: What happen Clancy?
Review: Is this the same man who brought us the classic 'The Hunt For Red October'? I'm afraid it is. First the book starts off good, bringing back Jack Jr. for the ride, and his cousins Brian and Dominac. I mean the book has it moments, but there are so many questions that are left hanging in the book; Like what happen to the drug lords the terrorist snuck in to America? What happen to Jack Jr. and his cousins, do they get the bad guys? What!?
The book has it moments where the terrorist attack a mall in Virginia, that was exciting, but the end did not make any sense, it felt rushed and it felt like this book was LONG, and his editor made a cut and paste job just to get the book out.
Clancy could of done MUCH BETTER, the characters felt thin, they all liked to watch the History Channel and the news, what kind of young person likes to watch the History Channel if they are not huge history buffs (like myself)? The characters felt all the same, like Jack Ryan, John Clark, Ding Chavez. Create something different Clancy. Also what happen to Ding? Clancy leaves so many questions in this novel, I finished it and felt robbed. I know that the Cold War is over, but Clancy, do us all a favor, retire because you are losing your steam.

Summary: Good, but not good enough
Review: The beginning of the book showed promise, only to be disappointed at the end.
I would have expected more from TC.

Summary: Teeth of the Pussy Cat?
Review: This book has its moments, but too many of them are tedious and ridiculous. The Cold War having ended, it seems Clancy is desperately trying to hitch his wagon to the War on Terrorism. Trouble is he doesn't really have anything of substance to say about it. Except maybe the war will be resolved by a couple of twenty year old super-soldiers. This book must have been a contract filler with the publisher.... Maybe Clancy will do better next time.

Summary: The teeth of the tiger
Review: This book is a ridiculously shallow attempt by Clancy to exploit his name and make money. The plot is totally unbelievable and the characters are as thin as the sheets of paper they are written on. This is the last Clancy book I will buy. What a shame that the author that brought us The Hunt for Red October, et al has sunk so low.

Summary: not up to par!
Review: disappointed that this in the "RYAN" series could be so lacking and so tedious. i've read all of the "jack ryan" series and find that although 'red rabbit' was bad - 'teeth' is worse. perhaps now's a good time to end this series!
