Summary: Good news, bad news
Review: James Patterson should be commended for an intriguing plot and good character development in Jack and Jill, but he should be criticized for his literary style. The plot is well paced and suspenseful with some unpredictable plot twists. He also creates some charactes, primarily Alex Cross, his grandmother, and his partner, who capture the reader's attention.

Mr. Patterson's literary style, or lack thereof, is disappointing. Apparently his concept of a good simile is "like hell" or "as hell" because he relies on this simile throughout the novel. It is apparent that he knows better because he describes an event toward the end of the book "as important as a cure for cancer." Either Mr. Patterson thinks that his readers are as sophisticated as comic book readers or he is as lazy as a student who submits downloaded reports from the internet for homework assignments.

Summary: Great Book!
Review: Jack & Jill is the the second James Patterson book I have read, the first being along came a spider. Although I liked Along came a spider just a little bit better Jack and Jill is still an absolutely amazing book. The story starts out with the murder of a US senator and the murder of a little girl in the southeastern quadrant of DC. Once again, our hero and protagonist Alex Cross is called upon to serve these murders. It does not take long for a shocking story to unfold that will chill and thrill you to the bone. Once again, James Patterson shows us that he is a master of the thriller genre. He gives us just enough information to let our own imagination to start going down the most shocking twists and turns. Don't miss this book. It is well worth your time and $$$.

Summary: JACK & JILL ARE THE REAL DEAL.........
Review: This book is great. The words to describe it are: Scary, Terrific, Outstanding. It is really two books in one. There are two or more killers they are trying to catch and they are killing two different kinds of people. One is children being killed and the other is political people. Jack and Jill, who are they???????? Can they be found before more people are killed? The person killing the children. Is it _________? Surprise it may not be. This will hold you attention from the first page till the very surprising ending. Alex Cross is good as usual. This it the third Patterson book I have read and am looking forward to the next one. If you like a good mystery you can't go wrong here.

Summary: If Mother Goose had a very bad attitude....
Review: This is my third James Patterson novel, and it held my interest with each page. This book read as two seperate novels, yet each garnered enough mystery and death to keep the tone set and to push the action along. Dr. Alex Cross is called upon to solve two cases at the same time. First, the killing of several high profile celebrities that lead up to the assasination of the President of the United States, and the murders of several black children, whose bodies are found at the school they attended. Even though the cases don't intersect, Alex uses that big brain of his to find any clues available to stop the carnage, even when fate drops him at the right place during the wrong time. Plus, Dr. Cross stays in character, which is the best compliment of all if anyone has read ALONG CAME A SPIDER and KISS THE GIRLS. Another thriller accomplished!

Review: Jack and Jill

I have loved mystery, action, and suspense novels ever since I can remember. James Patterson is one of the writers I love to read. Many of his books are very exciting, and I love being able to follow Alex Cross, the main character, through his many detective adventures. Because I have read a few of his books, Along Came a Spider, Cat & Mouse, and Pop Goes the Weasel, I hoped Jack and Jill would be as wonderful as the others were. Upon reading Jack and Jill I was surprised to find that this book was not as good as the rest. James Patterson kept switching back and forth between villains and Alex and I kept getting the characters mixed up. James also didn't tell the names of the characters, and he would only give hints about their appearance. At one point I thought there were only three different villains. I finally figured out there were not two villains, as usual, but FOUR! The two main villains are known as Jack and Jill. The third villain is known as The Sojourner Truth School Killer. About half way through the book I found out some interesting information on the School Killer that will knock your socks off! At first I thought the fourth killer, who is known as The Photojournalist, was Jack but I figured out he was not. Being able to weave the four killers and their personalities into one book shows that James Patterson is an accomplished writer. I usually read larger books, around 650 pages, so I was a little frustrated when I found out how short the chapters were, usually two pages. James Patterson's story line is almost the same as Clive Cussler's. Both main characters, Alex Cross in James Patterson's and Dirk Pitt in Clive Cussler, work in a food line for the homeless, and they both have a partner who is comical and of a larger build. The story line moved with a slow but steady increase of suspense, whereas Clive Cussler's stories have HUGE ups and downs, which I like. James Patterson keeps Alex Cross investigating murders of almost the same story line. I wish James Patterson would come up with a new pattern of villains. Jack and Jill was a great read and very interesting but definitely not his best. I recommend this book to all readers, but I suggest you read another James Patterson book first. I also suggest Clive Cussler to anyone looking for LOTS of action in one book.

Summary: Danger and Intrigue in the world of the CIA
Review: Once again James Patterson thrills me with his deep and involved plots, but mainly what grips, holds and seduces my senses are the intricate and diverse characters in Jack and Jill. Alex Cross is once again pitted against a killer who is not only superior in his execution style murders but totally believable and credible. Once you begin reading this book, you literally won't put it down until the last sentence is read and then you sigh from the sheer exhiliration as if you've just stepped off a roller coaster ride! Thanks James Patterson!!

Summary: One of his best
Review: This is one of Patterson's best books I have read so far. The characters are well described and I feel I get to know them very well. But he uses characterers from previous books and it might be helpful to start reading his earlier books first. But it is of course not necessary. I don't read his books like that.

The story is great as well. It was a real pageturner, keeping me in suspense from start to finish.

I highly recommend this.

Summary: Not bad at all
Review: JACK & JILL is an entertaining little thriller that easily held my interest throughout it's unfolding dual stories of a man/woman duo of celebrity killers and the predator who's brutally murdering school children in Cross' own neighbourhood. There were a couple of unexpected twists along the way, and the book's pacing (many very short chapters) propels you along to a satisfying end.
