Rating: Summary: Decent Plot, Third Grade Writing Review: I'll give him this: James Patterson is a good plotter. "Jack and Jill" is never dull, and I wasn't able to guess the ending. However, and this is a big however, Patterson writes on a third grade level, with lots of short paragraphs, repeated sentences, and italics for emphasis. There's not a challenging moment in this novel. He also seems entranced by horrifically brutal murders, many of children. While this may bring readers, it also has a gratuitous and unnecessary feeling. It's a quick read - fine if you're looking for something that won't tax your brain beyond the average episode of "Matlock".
Rating: Summary: THE BEST Review: I read this book in one night, it simply was impossible to put down. I'm 14 years old and I don't read squat, so when my mother threw me in the bookstore i wasn't expecting much. I journeyed over to the mysteries section and saw Jack & Jill sitting on the shelf, the cover was pretty interesting, so i picked it up. Larry King raved about it, and the plot looked really kickass so i got it. After chucking all the other books I bought from the store across the backyard I picked up Jack & Jill. I was so thrilled. The detail is fantastic. The sex scene was good enough for a mystery (To those who were dissapointed by it, go buy a Hustler you ungrateful perverts). After reading it in one night, I went back to the bookstore and bought Along Came A Spider, Kiss The Girls, and Cat & Mouse. I've read them all. James Patterson is the best crime author of the 90's and anyone who says he isn't is just plain retarded.
Rating: Summary: The Worst Book I've Never Read Review: I'd heard a lot about James Patterson, so I thought I'd give this one a try. Sorry I did. I found the characters to be very sterotypical, and the plot unoriginal. I got through about 100 pages before the dialogue totally turned me off. When I pick up a book to read I want to be drawn in by the characters. Instead I was turned off with disgust. This book is designed for the weak minded. Don't waste your time.
Rating: Summary: PATTERSON'S BEST SO FAR Review: The was my favorite Patterson book, because all the characters were either really likable or really hatable.
Rating: Summary: Another Let's-Shoot-The-President! Review: After much urging by others, I decided to try Patterson. J&J is my first [and last] go. Life is too short to put up with another "less-than-ept" Columbo, a "let's-protect-the-kids" theme, yet another crotchety old stereotype grandma, and a to-become love interest who becomes conveniently "available". The "Dennis-the-Menace" subplot got in the way, the Jack-and-Jill sex was PG, and the author had no way of utilizing the sexual mutilation theme. Way to go, Patterson! Cha-Ching! Another pot-boiler!
Rating: Summary: Patterson' best to date.... Review: I discovered James Patterson a couple of years ago when I was looking for a "beach book" & picked up "Spider". I was enthralled! I have become a fan & have read everything he has written since. "Jack & Jill" is the most suspenseful book he has written yet. A real page-turner, I could not put it down. I am looking forward to "Cat & Mouse", as well as the large screen version of "Jack & Jill." Enjoy....
Rating: Summary: I love the way Patterson works the turn of events. Review: This was an excellent book. The suspense was unreal. Everytime I thought I could guess what was going to happen, there was a complete turn around! Once I started reading I could not put the book down. Definately one of the better authors of suspense novels.
Rating: Summary: Intense and Electrifying!! Review: The most intense book I have ever read!
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I have ever read Review: For a book to keep my interest, it has to be exciting to say the least. I have found that James Patterson does this with virtually every book he has written. Jack and Jill is a book in which you physically cannot put it down until you are finished with the last page. And that is what I did. I took me 6 hours to read this book and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I was expecting this though. I have read James Patterson in the past. Along Came A Spider and Kiss The Girls were also reads in one sit-down. He definitely has a talent for making your heart start beating faster in your chest!!!
