Summary: An interesting premise and this Patterson's has an ending!
Review: James Patterson easily makes the transition from male hero figure Alex Cross to "the womens' club" heroines. I will look forward to reading the next installment featuring this group. I thought the plot was intricately woven and, just when you thought you had it figured out, the last two pages provide a final surprise. Maybe you die hard Alex Cross fans are somewhat disappointed, but give Mr. Patterson an opportunity to branch out, expand his repertoire and introduce us to a group we may want to follow as much as the Cross series.

Summary: True thriller 'til the end
Review: I'm shocked to read so many reviews that give it less than 5 stars.I thought this was a great book with several twists and turns that kept me sitting on the edge of the couch--and made me feel like I needed to have my house alarm on at night----to feel safe from this killer. I read it quickly but enjoyed every word--up to the last chapter of surprises. I enjoyed the characters of Lindsay Boxer and her three women "club mates". I hope they're in subsequent books. My only disappointment was the demise of one special man-I would have like to see his relationship bloom. This will be a permanent part of my library collection. And I hope to read more of James Patterson in the future. He's a terrific, talented writer in my opinion.

Summary: 1st to die
Review: James Patterson should remember he is a man, and write as a man. His attempt at being a woman detective was so inept that all throughout the book I just wanted to scream- Women do not act/react that way! The very idea that 4 professional women could drop everything that they were doing to meet up with each other (in 10 minutes no less!) that all four of these women decided to put thier jobs on the line by being in the "Women's Murder Club" is a JOKE! The lead character Lindsay, has a deadly disease, but continues to miss blood transfusions, work long shifts, drink numerous margarita's and still she can work like nothing is affecting her. PLEASE! A woman would take care of business first- her health. There is no way she could have physically maintained the lifestyle Mr. Patterson suggests she did. The book was predictable, boring at times, and truly disappointing. I enjoyed his other works, but please Mr. Patterson, stay in gender.

Summary: I hope Alex Cross is 2nd To Die
Review: Once again, Patterson delivers an amazing work - this time centered around somebody other than Alex Cross. Now I am by no means an "Alex Cross hater," but I do think he has served his purpose (and as an aside, Alex Cross DOES NOT EQUAL Morgan Freeman). The perfect replacement is THE MURDER CLUB headed up by a GREAT new protagonist - Lindsey! This novel has all of the elements we have grown to love and cherish from Patterson- The short chapters, the twists and turns and the constant excitement make this book a thrilling read. . . .

The tale unfolds with a startling series of developments- a murderer is on the loose and killing brides and grooms. It is difficult to imagine a more gut-wrenching series of crimes. Lindsey (and Raleigh- her new partner) enter the scene. As the plot develops, we grow to feel Lindsey's every emotion. The pain due to a sudden illness, her love for her new man and her frustration as she desperately works to solve the hideous crimes. She eventually forms the murder club with Cindy (reporter) and Claire (simple version of Cornwell's M.E. Scarpetta), who provide assistance as they seek out the killer. The prosecutor rounds out the group of four, but her character is not developed as well. (She may make a "good mortality" - euphemism - in a future book as it is likely readers won't get too attached.) The group eventually works together to reach this book's surprise ending. I won't give it away, but you will not be disappointed!

In summary, just when I thought I was through with Patterson, this book puts him back at the top of my list- No flying bird-girls or Alex Cross to deal with (although to be honest, I am a bit curious about how Patterson intends to continue Roses are Red - here's a tip James: No more lame love interests for Cross). Lindsey and Company are the greatest!

Summary: Patterson Packs another Punch
Review: James Patterson always seems to write a "can't put down" novel and this one was no exception. I look forward to his new books and was disappointed at first that Alex Cross was not the protagonist, but was quickly wrapped up in Lindsay Boxer. I read it quite quickly and enjoyed the twists and turns. I agree that while this wasn't his best, it delivered what I wanted at the time which was an engaging mystery which didn't require deep thinking. This was exactly what I have come to expect from Patterson and while not a great read, it was most enjoyable.

Summary: Whose Fault Is It Anyway?
Review: Who's responsible for that jacket blurb? We are told that this is the first in what will be a series of books. Then early on we are told the heroine has a fatal disease. Do you think she's gonna die? Then who would the series be about?

Summary: Average for Patterson
Review: See story summary above.

I did enjoy reading this latest from James Patterson. Only because it was a fairly quick read. At times emotional and at times suspenseful. It also introduced to us, what will be, a new group of crime fighting protagonists-The Womans Murder Club. I had a little trouble swallowing the idea of Mr. Patterson writing in the first person narrative of a woman. That just doesn't strike me as credible. A good read overall with the typical plot twists of a good mystery.

Recommended.

Summary: 1st to Die
Review: I am a big fan of James Patterson and especially Dr.Alex Cross and the novels about him. I never thought I would be interested in a new series or new characters, but James Patterson has made me change my mind!!!!! I could not put this book down and I loved every second of it.....the only thing bad about the book is that I finished reading it too quickly and miss the characters. I do hope that Mr. Patterson has more the of the "Women's Murder Club" coming for us!!

Summary: Not one of his best, but a good read
Review: 1st to die is not one of JP's finer moments. It is a pretty good read and would suggest reading on the beach, at the lake, etc. Does not require much thought. Easy to keep up with. A surprise ending.

Summary: 1st to die
Review: Not really up to the standard that Patterson set with the Dr. Cross series. It's like he combined women detective novels with women M.E. novels and then added a "pinch" of women crime writer novels and "stired" in a little women lawyer (DA) novels for good measure. The finish has lots of twist and turns but we expect that from Patterson.
