Summary: Excellent book...
Review: I am a fan of James Patterson, especially his Alex Cross series. This book ranks high in my list of favorites. Patterson does a great job of getting into the minds and souls of his female characters. These characters are strong and independent however Patterson is able to show they are still vulnerable. I cruised through this book in two days - it was easy to read and quick paced. I highly recommend this book to fans of Patricia Cornwell. I hope Patterson makes this a new series.

Review: I have read most of Mr. Patterson's works and this is one of his finest. I read the entire book in one day because I just couldn't put it down. I find his style refreshing. I had not expected the ending and was fascinated by the story line.

Summary: Not quite Alex Cross
Review: I'm problably biased because I enjoy the Alex Cross novel so much, but this book didn't grab me as had previous Patterson books. It was a fast, easy read, as well as entertaining. However, I found this book seemed familiar to me. The basic plot was new, newlyweds as victims. But after that I had felt like I had seen this plotline before. A little Basic Instinct with some of the Fugitive creaping in. The whole book seemed too cluttered with subplots, with the Club taking the back seat. The ending had potential, but seemed to be thrown at me too fast. That should have been developed more and wasn't very realistic. That said, even a so-so James Patterson book is better than most of what else is out there.

Summary: Alex Cross who?
Review: I am a big fan of all the Alex Cross novels but this one makes me forget all about them!! This book will have you turn each page faster than the last to find out what's going to happen. This is diffenately the best James Patterson novel I have read in a very long time. I can't wait till the next one comes out. My husband is not a big fan of Patterson's books but he finished this one faster than I did!!

Review: in this the first of a continuing series about the womens murder club headed by San Fransico inspector Lindsay Boxer who is trying to solve the multiple murders of newlyweds James Patterson has finally given us readers something that will probably hold up with the Alex Cross series of novels that has made Patterson a fiction superstar in these books which are written from a womens point of view all the four members of the WMC Boxer the policeman who is battling a life threatening illness Claire her best friend an FME Cindy the journalist on the Sf chronicle and Jill the Assistant district attorney try to track down the murderer as well as the backstories in the book like most of Pattersons work it is easy to read and when the tried and tested Patterson twists and turns come at you in the last 100 or so pages you will not be able to put it down all in all a very good start to what promises to be just as an exciting series of novels it will be interesting to find out when the Womens Murder Club will meet Alex Cross ITS GOTTA HAPPEN !.

Review: Author James Patterson gives book series psychologist cop Alex Cross a breather and lets four professional women, dubbed the 'Women's Murder Club,' track down a psycho killer of newlyweds. Led by homicide inspector Lindsay Boxer, the women (a reporter, a medical examiner and an assistant district attorney) leverage their respective expertise to decipher the clues of the gruesome nuptial slayings. The ad hoc women's club also becomes a support group for each other on issues of work, family, romance and illness. Lindsay Boxer, in particular, battles to balance a blood illness, a new beau, and her passion to solve the murders. When the case is finally nailed down to the Club's satisfaction, it becomes unglued as Lindsay becomes unsure as to the real killer. Another search for the truth leads to a surprise ending, as well as to the meaning of the novel's title. The author's risk to try something new seems to have succeeded in this novel. The 'Club' characters are likeable, enduring and memorable, just as those in the Alex Cross episodes. Maybe a strong '2cd' book series from James Patterson will benefit the '1st' series by keeping it fresh and novel.

Review: The book had several twists, and very good characters. Most of the dialouge was girl talk and a total different feel than the Alex Cross series. Good book, but can not quite measure up to the Cross series.

Summary: A Good, well-paced murder mystery
Review: James Patterson is a skilled mystery writer, and he writes very well in the feminine first-person voice. His heroine is very convincing. He portrays her as a strong-willed, successful woman struggling to the top in a male-dominated world--an inspector sergeant in the San Francisco Police Department--while maintaining definite feminine characteristics and underlying character. Lindsey Boxer, the chief protagonist, has run up against a serial sex killer who specializes in young newly-wed married couples, while at the same time she is diagnosed with Negli's aplastic anemia, a serious, life-threatening disease. She is joined in her struggle to identify the killer by an old friend, Claire, the female Chief Medical Examiner in the coroner's office, who is black and in shape. "Round is a shape," she says. Her other confidant is a reporter on the Chronicle, also a young woman, named Cindy, who also on her way up in a demanding, competitive environment, and joining them later is Jill, an assistant D.A. Together, they form a Girl's Murder Club, each contributing something to the solution. This is a good yarn, and it will hold you spellbound for a few hours. Joseph H Pierre

Summary: Let me catch my breath!
Review: Wow! Patterson's 1st to Die is exhilarating over the last 100 pages. The ending is very unpredictable and satisfying. I give the novel 4 stars out of 5 due to its repeated plot twists and suspense. 1 star is subtracted because at times, there is too much romance for a suspense novel. Overall, though, 1st to Die is a quality book that ought to be read.
