Rating: Summary: Even Better Than The First! Review: This is a very funny book! Two for the Dough, the second book in the Stephanie Plum series. Stephanie , bounty hunter gets a new case to find Kenny Mancuso who is accused of killing his best friend and jumping bail. Stephanie still is getting help from bounty hunter Ranger and cop Joe Morelli. Kenny is Joe's cousin and he is also looking for him . Grandma Mazur who is a trip helps Stephanie search the funeral homes for Kenny. Grandma Mazur is very funny and she loves going to funeral home's already. Stephanie also agrees to find missing coffins while she is in search of Kenny. This book was funnier then the first it will have you laughing out loud. The pages just seem to fly; it is very fast paced. I can't wait to read the next one, and I would recommend this series to everybody.
Rating: Summary: What an imagination!! Review: Having read "One for the Money" last week, I had to try out "Two for the Dough" this week. I was anything but disappointed! What an imagination Evanovich has, as she both kept me turning pages at a rapid pace as I read, as well as had me laughing outloud continuously (disrupting the rest of the household!!)! I truly loved the book, and can't wait for my friends to read it so we can talk about it and laugh out loud together over the various "events" that happen in this book! I highly recommend this book if you're looking for a belly laugh, and I'm anxiously awaiting to start Evanovich's third book in the Stephanie Plum series!! You won't be disappointed!
Rating: Summary: This Grandma Doesn't Say "Where's The Beef?" Review: This is the second book in the Stephanie Plum "bounty hunter" series, and Janet Evanovich puts forth another incredibly solid effort. This book actually made me laugh out loud.Stephanie Plum, fresh off of her "lucky" recovery is back chasing after Kenny Mancuso, who skipped his court appearance. Fresh out of the military, Mancuso is accused of killing his one-time friend. It turns out some "cop-killing" munitions are missing from the military compound he was stationed at, and they have now surfaced on the streets of several different cities. Add in the search for 24 missing caskets, believed to have stored the munitions, and you have one amazingly intense story. All of the regular characters are back. Stephanie Plum, seemingly the world's worst bounty hunter, is also one of the luckiest people around as the trouble just seems to find her...literally. The virginity stealing, straight-faced cop, Joe Morelli is back with his protective, yet secretive ways. Ranger, the bounty hunter and mentor is also back, but plays a somewhat smaller role than the first Stephanie Plum book. However, the witty Grandma Mazur clearly steals the show in this book. She is an intricate part of the storyline, and she truly adds the real color to this novel. The plot is well-developed again, and the twists and turns are plentiful. Evanovich keeps you guessing throughout, as the suspense is great. The story truly doesn't unravel until the final 20 pages of the book, and when it does, it happens so fast, you can't believe what you have just read. Overall, this is a truly good book. The writing is very good, and it flows quite nicely. The humor is outstanding. TWO FOR THE DOUGH will not let you down.
Rating: Summary: Two for is twice as good as one for Review: Having loved One for the Money, I couldn't wait to get through the whole series! Two for the Dough is funnier and more thrilling than the first! I could relate to Stephanie and her relationship with her family. Mental head banging against the wall! That is so true! The character development is wonderful, Joe Morelli is to fall for, and Grandma Mazur says all the things I tell my kids should remain in their heads, not spew forth, the things we would like to say, but don't possess the guts or proper level of insanity to do so. She is a grandma and a little sister all rolled into one! We learn more about Stephanie's backround as well, which I am sure is leading up to something in future books. I cannot wait. I laughed out loud at this book, and look forward to it again!
Rating: Summary: read me Review: You must own this whole series.Don't buy just one get them all cause your going to want to start the next one the minute you finish the first.
Rating: Summary: Another plum novel about Stephanie Plum Review: Janet Evanovich's sophomore novel on Stephanie Plum, a sassy, funny, plucky bounty hunter from Trenton, N.J., is just as fine as her debut novel, "One for the Money." Evanovich's novels are the best thing going in detective fiction today, and it's a pity she's not as well known as Sue Grafton, Ruth Rendell, Lawrence Block or Patricia Cornwell. I like all of them, but Evanovich is even better. It's not often that real suspense and hilarity can coexist in a detective novel. (Block is one of the few others who can pull it off.) Be sure to read these books in order so you don't miss a thing. I won't have to recommend that you read all of the Stephanie Plum books. This Jersey girl is addictive.
Rating: Summary: She does it again! Review: I have to tell you, I really enjoyed all of the Stephanie Plum novels. I didn't want to put them down. My sister kept pestering me to read them and once I did, I had to read all of them back-to-back. Since this is number 2 and if you haven't read the first one, you will want to read it first - One for the Money. I think you will enjoy the humor and I am sure you will relate to some parts in the book. I would like to think there is a little Stephanie Plum in all of us. Read all of her books from the first to the last. You will be glad you did.
Rating: Summary: No Sophmore Slump Review: I really enjoyed the first book in this series and was delighted to see the second effort was as good as the first. The mixture of comedy and mayhem is done just right. Many of the characters are New Jersey stereotypes, but they are rendered with warmth and affection. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Fun Continues...Evanovich "Two" For Two Review: Hopefully, "Two For The Dough" and the other books in the Stephanie Plum novels are not just for the ladies (or maybe the fairer sex are just the ones writing all these review here on Amazon). This is by no means a "chick" book. Having whipped through the first two books of the series, I have thoroughly enjoyed the breezy plots, laugh-out-loud humor and memorable characters (who are quickly become old friends). "Two" finds Stephanie still stumbling and bumbling through her new career as bounty-hunter extraordinaire. One of the first book's most endearing characters, Grandma Mazur, has an increased role in "Two" as a pistol-packing granny whose primary social activity is attending funerals in the "burg." "Two" won't win any literary awards, but that's not the point (truly "entertaining" movies rarely win Oscars either). I plan on keeping a little behind Evanovich's writing schedule so I am not without the next Stephanie Plum book.
Rating: Summary: Like an adventurous sitcom Review: There's an unwritten rule in the "burg" bounty hunter Stephanie Plum calls home: if you're dealing with a Mancuso or a Morelli, expect trouble. Lucky Steph...she's getting a double dose in Two for the Dough. She's been assigned to haul in Kenny Mancuso, a bail jumper who shot his so-called best friend in the knee. Thing is, Kenny doesn't want to be caught, and his distant relative Joe Morelli (if these books become movies they should get Chris Meloni from L&O:SVU to play this guy)really doesn't want Stephanie to catch him, as Kenny's involved in one of his cases. Did I say double trouble? Perhaps we should raise the ante a bit, seeing as how in the midst of all this Stephanie has to deal with a slimy funeral home director with a missing casket problem and Grandma Mazur's eagerness to help out her granddaughter while at the same time getting great seats for the latest viewings. Talk about putting the "fun" back in "funeral". Seriously, this is a great followup to One for the Money, and just absorbing the tension between Stephanie and Joe can only guarantee that three through six, and beyond, will be "hot".
