Rating: Summary: Worth the Dough Review: This second in the Stephanie Plum (bounty hunter) series is just as good as the first. With Joe Morelli as a sexy supporting character who was in the first one, Stephanie hunts for a crazy idiot who's chopping off body parts at the local funeral parlor. Grandma Mazur is hilarious - if this got made into a movie, she'd be up for an Oscar. Read it and enjoy it as much as I did.
Rating: Summary: Stephanie Plum is Running After Mancuso This Time! Review: This book was very entertaing just as One for the Money was before it. This time, Vinnie gives Stephanie the arduous task of hunting down Kenny Mancuso, who murdered his best friend, and is trying to escape in every way possible. But not without causing a lot of other trouble along the way. And this Kenny happens to be Joe Morelli's cousin as well. Joe Morelli is still in the picture, and he has to always horn in on Stephanie's investigations, driving her crazy again! Joe Morelli is a vice cop who thinks who can do a better job than Stephanie-but just wait. He has another think coming. Aided by her tough bounty hunter pal, Ranger, and her funeral-happy, eccentric Grandma Mazur, Stephanie is soon knee deep in corpses, trying to shake Morelli, and stirring up another very nasty enemy along her way. This book is very entertaining, and impossible to lay it down!
Rating: Summary: She's back... Review: Stephanie Plum is back and hot on the tail of a local boy, Kenny Mancuso. What should have been an easy pick up, get more and more complicated. Missing caskets, missing body-parts, a crazy grandmother who wants to help...who said life as a bounty hunter was easy? Not Stephanie! Morelli and Stephanie bounty hunter mentor, Ranger, are back as well. A fast-paced, fantastic read!
Rating: Summary: Tons of Fun Review: Two For the Dough is even better than the first. Buy this one now! I think I read this book in a day. Can't wait for number three!
Rating: Summary: Stephanie's Back in Over Her Head Review: Stephanie's new case was supposed to be simple. Kenny Mancuso had shot his friend, not fatally, and then skipped out on his bond. Should be real simple, right? Of course, first she has to find Kenny. Then his friend is murdered. Trying to track down any leads, she joins Grandma Mazur at a funeral home run by Spiro, another of Kenny's childhood friends. But Spiro has a case of his own. 24 caskets have been stolen, and he wants Stephanie to hunt them down. Is there a connection? With Ranger to advise and Joe Morelli to shadow, will Stephanie put all the pieces in place and catch Kenny before he turns on her? Stephanie Plum is an appealing heroine. She acts tough, but in reality she's all too human. The plot is complicated enough to keep the reader engaged, and the action never lets up. There were several parts I thought I had figured out only to learn later I was wrong. And Grandma Mazur is a riot as she gets more involved in the story. It's easy to see why these books are so popular - an appealing main character and fun stories. If you're looking for purely escapist fiction, this is the series for you.
Rating: Summary: Just as funny as the First Review: I really loved reading One for the Money and after that one I knew that I wanted to the second one Two for the Dough which did not dissappoint me at all. I found the second to be just as hilarous as the first. In this book Stephanie is chasing the psychotic Kenny Mancuso who happens to be the cousin of Joe Morelli. Stephanie still has not learned much more about her profession than in the first, and she gets into as many misadventures as the first. Once again Grandma Mazur steals the show because of her attraction to all the funeral homes in town and her many accidents with the corspes. The sexual attraction between Stephanie and Joe continues to grow and is even stronger in this book. Janet Evanovich has created a series that I intend to continue with and I hope she will continue to write books in this series for a long time.
Rating: Summary: So....when does the movie come out??!! Review: Ok, ok, so there's no movie in the works that I know of, but a girl can dream, right?! And...who would play Joe Morelli...that's what I want to know! The second in the Stephanie Plum series, it's a hit (no pun intended, really!)! READ THIS BOOK! Her trials and tribulations as a bounty hunter are hilarious! I'll keep reading until she hooks up with Morelli, but well, I won't tell what does or does not happen in this book! Her gun-toting Grandma Mazur and the obsession with funeral homes is hilarious! Her mentor, Ranger, and her everyday life as a pseudo bounty hunter makes for a fun, quick read. I definitely recommend this series!
Rating: Summary: I'm PLUM fascinated Review: Okay, I only gave "Two For The Money" four stars. But I think Janet may have gotten into a hurry in writing her second PLUM novel and quit too quick. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, but not as much as the first PLUM novel. And I'm already out of order with my numbers since I've read High Five before #3 & #4. But I did purchase the third and fourth novels and Full House, so I have a lot of reading to keep me busy. Janet has some really greats characters for some really outstanding plots. She's witty and I love to read her dialogue. This is great!!!!
Rating: Summary: Steph is back...with Grandma Review: Bumbling bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is on the trail of Kenny Mancuso. Kenny has jumped bail after shooting his best friend. With a little assistance from her mentor, Ranger, Steph sets out to bring him in and collect the bounty. Along the way, she gets a little assistance from the man she tracked down in 'One for the Money', Joe Morelli. To complicate things, someone has stolen a couple dozen government surplus caskets from a local mortuary. Tempted by the $1,000 reward, Stephanie takes on the challenge of finding them as well. Could these cases be related? Follow Stephanie as she bumbles through another case in Janet Evanovich's 'Two for the Dough.' 'Two for the Dough' is every bit as fun as its predecessor, and in some places, more so. Stephanie's Grandma Mazur frequently steals the show. Grandma Mazur is enamored with Stephanie's chosen profession, and looks up to Stephanie, both literally and figuratively. When Stephanie shows up at her mother's house decked out in mid-90's fashion (flannel shirt, jeans, and doc martins), Grandma Mazur copies the outfit on her next shopping trip. If anything, Grandma's bumbling proves that Stephanie comes by it naturally, even if it did skip a generation (her Mom just doesn't understand her). The one draw back to the story is that the mystery is really non-existent. The 'how' and 'why' of the missing caskets, Kenny Mancuso's running around, and other small mysteries are wrapped up fairly early in the novel. After that it, the story is reduced to 'the chase is on' with one outrageous scene following the next. An advantage this novel has over 'One for the Money' is that it tells the story of the 'Burg' better. Actually, it does a better job telling the story of the women better: how and why the do and put up with the things they do. Evanovich displayed some noteable incite with this novel. However, this is still an amazingly fun story to read. Anyone that likes crime fiction (watered down) will get a kick out of this. Its not necessary to read 'One for the Money', but as with most series, I recommend doing so in order to appreciate some of the jokes.
Rating: Summary: Creative Review: Janet Evanovich penned a winner with "Two for the Dough" the second in her Stephanie Plum, budding bounty hunter, series. Plum is on the hunt for a WACKO with a penchant for whacking off body parts and terrorizeing the neighborhood. Plum joins forces with the illusive Ranger in her quest to capture this bail jumper. Evanovich has a delightful way with words and while the suspense builds the author often adds touches of humor that keep readers captivated and laughing. Her characters are richly detailed and an asset to the narrative. A truly great read. Beverly J Scott author of Righteous Revenge
