Rating: Summary: 4th in series, still packs a punch Review: It's been 5 months since Stephanie Plum of New Jersey's burg started working as an apprehension agent (she prefers bounty hunter) for her bail-bondsman cousin Vinnie. And January is looking like a really bad hair month. She's got an old Nissan Pickup she's convinced is possessed, but still has her uncle's 1953 Buick as a backup. "Nothing like packing a pistol to put spring in a girl's step," even if she's afraid of it. To make matters worse, Joe Morelli, working homicide temporarily, is being a perfect gentleman, a total professional. Considering their history, this scares Stephanie more than her gun.Moses "Uncle Mo" Bedemier is Trenton's most-beloved citizen and favorite candystore owner. When Mo gets busted for carrying a concealed weapon and jumps bail (all very out of character), Stephanie's on the case, checking with the locals only to find that Mo hasn't been seen in two days. "I was getting tired of hearing how Mo would never do anything wrong. In fact, I was beginning to wonder what sort of person this wonderful Uncle Mo really was. It seemed to me everyone knew him, but no one knew him." Now Stephanie's been attacked and threatened by men in ski masks warning, "Leave Mo alone, or else." Neighborhood drug dealers are turning up dead all around her. Former fling Joe Morelli is starting to wonder if Mo has turned into the neighborhood's anti-drug vigilante. Stephanie's been shot at 3 times in one day! Time to consider a new career? Perhaps just a new hair color. On this case, Stephanie has the help of Lula, a former prostitute turned file clerk. When they first met "she'd been a streetwalker and I'd been street-stupid." With aspirations of becoming a bounty hunter herself, Lula is sticking to Stephanie like glue. Ricardo Carlos Manoso, a.k.a. Ranger, is also working with Stephanie on this one and also trying to get her into better, healthier shape. Let's start with a 5 mile January run at 6 AM. Yeah, right! This 3rd in the Stephanie Plum series is just as hilarious as the first. Janet Evanovich writes such great characters that are extremely unique and definitely memorable.
Rating: Summary: A review of the unabridged book on CD Review: This book took a long time to get started, I felt. Particularly in the audio version, where the reader spoke agonizingly slowly with long pauses between paragraphs and eternally long pauses between sections. This set could have been one disc less, I suspect, and been more exciting for the faster reading pace. The book itself was as good as the others, in my opinion - with the last half more funny and engaging than the first. I toyed with giving up on the book, but by the end, I found excuses to be in the car to hear the rest. I came to enjoy the humor of Lula, I became especially intrigued by Ranger; I was disappointed the Morelli character was not particularly engaging until the latter half of the book.
Rating: Summary: Michelle's Review Review: This book, like most Janet Evanovich novels, was very funny and interesting. She always thinks of unique and weird endings for her books. Stephanie Plum, a bounty hunter from Trenton, New Jersey, and Joe Morelli make a very good team in this book. Together, they are trying to find Mo Bedemier, an old man who runs and owns a well known candy store. He did not show up for his court appearance and it's Stephanie's job to find him and bring him in. However, while searching for Mo, they discover some things about him that nobody has ever known. Although I really enjoyed this book, I think I liked the first book the best.
Rating: Summary: Jordan's Review Review: Three to Get Deadly by Janet Evanovich is an excellent and exciting book. Janet Evanovich has an excellent style of writing and it is very fun and easy to read her books. In this book, Stephanie Plum, a New Jersey bounty hunter, is looking for a candystore owner named Mosses Bedimier. To all of the kids that visit his store, he is known as Uncle Mo. Stephanie is looking for Uncle Mo because a lot of people are dying and she thinks that Uncle Mo is behind it all. Stephanie has her friends Joe Morrelli and Ranger help her find Mo. Ranger is another bounty hunter and Joe is a cop. Stephanie needs to find Uncle Mo before more people die.
Rating: Summary: Nicole's Review Review: This book was very funny. I enjoyed reading it a lot. This book took place in Trenton, New Jersey. It is about a a bountey hunter name Stephanie Plum. Her job is to find a candy shop owner named Mo and bring him in because he did not come to his court appearance. I like this book because of the characters. I think the characters in this story are hilarious. I find myself laughing all the time while reading this book. I like this book better than the first two books in the series. If you read this book you will love it. This book contains adult content.
Rating: Summary: What a Hoot! Janet Evanovich strikes gold again! Review: Third time really is a charm! This book is so entertaining, I couldn't put it down. It's a good thing that it is such a quick read. My dental hygenist got me hooked on Evanovich's books and I've gotten my co-worker hooked. I can't get my hands on the next book fast enough. Stephanie Plum is every woman with her intuition and curiosity. Add Grandma Mazur, Lulu, and Ranger for help and you've got quite a mess. Of course, Evanovich adds just the right amount of heat with Morelli again! Great buy, worth every penny!
Rating: Summary: Rolling on the Floor Laughing Review: No one does crime story qua humor better. Plum, an accidental bounty hunter, joins with an ex-hooker turned bounty hunter, an ex-special ops mercinary bounty hunter, and their boss, an apparently mob connected sex fiend, to bring in a candy store owner who has skipped bond on a traffic ticket. And it only gets more complicated as bodies begin to pile up, drug dealers disappear, and Plum, our heroine, repeatedly avoids death by mere millimeters. To top it all off, this takes place in Trenton, New Jersey's capital, and its surrounding suburbs...not exactly a literary hot spot (are there any other books set in Trenton?) Keeps you turning the pages (at least during those brief intervals when your eyes are not blinded by tears of laughter). Can't wait to read the rest of the series!
Rating: Summary: Simply put, Evanovich is a very good author Review: I have to go with 5 stars this time, because there is just nothing missing from this book. Every paragraph is flawless and creative. Like the ultra smooth transition from revulsion at the scene of a murder to Joe Morelli's perceived snub that resulted in Stephanie Plum's contemplation of adding red highlights to her hair. New chapter. Immediately Stephanie is slapping down her last $60 to alter her hair. Janet Evanovich is a craftswoman. Once again we have an author that can anticipate the thoughts of the reader and write every scene and transition for maximum surprise and amusement. And it is done so simply it is possible that a reader may not recognize that it is all intentional. Strong writing plain and simple.
Rating: Summary: A Third Winner Review: The third of beginner bounty hunter Stephanie Plum's series, is a third straight winner for these books. Stephanie has to bring in Uncle Mo, an old guy who owns a candy store and everybody loves. But there's more to old Mo than anyone ever dreamed. And between Stephanie, Morelli and Ranger this action-packed, hilarious, suspenseful masterpiece ends with you wanting to dig into that fourth book. Thank you, Ms. Evanovich!
