Summary: Can Cars Blowing Up Get Old?
Review: The answer to the question is "yes", because that is how I felt with this book. In it Stephanie has two more vehicles that get blown up plus Ranger's. It gets a little stale after awhile. This is still a pretty good book though because we see our old favourites - Lula, Gramma Mazur and of course Ranger and Morelli. Some unfinished business between Stephanie and Ranger gets finished too. I wish they could bottle and sell Ranger! Anyway, in this book Stephanie is trying to find a missing mother and her daughter for a friend of her family, and she is thrown against a really bad dude who begins terrorizing her and her family. Ranger really helps Steph a lot in this one because this guy is really scary! In fact, it makes Stephanie really consider a new line of work.

Summary: Magic
Review: This book is when all the magic happens. Ranger doesn't forget what Stephanie owes him! Hehe, he gets his bargain, and this book just keeps getting funnier!

Summary: Lost it!
Review: I have read 1 thru 7. Thats enough! Its not funny anymore, the plot is weak and this adult woman can't seem to make up her mind whether she is in love or not and with whom. Grandma isn't funny anymore either. Was that a Joe Pesci clone for the lawyer, as in Lethal Weapon? JE you can do better, just crank em out now that people buy them.

Summary: don't bother
Review: I have to agree with the Fort Worth reader. The story has some funny moments, but this is just another romance novel, complete with insipid heroine in need of being rescued, then boinked (or boinked then rescued ... whatever). She is supposed to be college educated. Why is Steph suddenly so stupid? C'mon, leaving her keys in the car while attempting to pick up a FTA, and later going out for pizza when she knows she is being stalked by a maniac is reaching. I really don't care how hot Ranger is. Why should she worry about death cooties on her sofa, then sleep unprotected with a guy who has been with the bar maid at the sleazy pizza joint? Eeeewwww.

Stephanie needs to get a brain transplant. If I want to read this kind of garbage, l'll pick up a Harlequin.

Summary: Good but one small problem
Review: I liked this book. It was interesting, funny, and had great characters but the theme of Stephanie Plum making bad decisions got old really quickly.

Summary: GET IT, READ IT, ENJOY IT!!
Review: What can I say? Steph's at it again....this one is a winner. Stephanie's been asked by a neighbor to find a missing mother and daughter. But Stephanie has no idea what she's letting herself in for. In addition to an especially nasty ex-husband, there are a number of other people searching for Evelyn and her daughter; most notably a killer rabbit and bear, and Evelyn's Napoleonesque landlord, who's into war games--and who has apparently declared war on Stephanie.

And in true Plum fashion, there are several car fires, dead bodies are everywhere, and the heat is turned up--to HIGH--between Steph and Ranger. In addition, there is unresolved business between Steph and Joe Morelli. Throw in sister Val who is no longer the "perfect" sister, a small-time lawyer who's last name is Kloughn (like clown) and you've got a cast of characters guaranteed to keep you laughing out loud.

Summary: You Go Girl
Review: I read this outing with a sense of duty. Sure the last seven were great, but surely familiarity would set in. I was wrong. Evanovich wrote a darker book, while still keeping the humour, but we finally see Stephanie's character develop some depth. After all that has happened to her it was only natural she would get a little tougher, and seems Stephanie has surprised even herself. Ranger and Morelli are true to form, and the Plum family is hoot. I think this book would read well on its own, but for new readers this whole series is a find. I can hardly wait for number nine.

Summary: A break from the hum-drum routine
Review: The eighth in the Stephanie Plum series, HARD EIGHT, has the bounty hunter searching for a missing mother and child. Though not an official assignment, Stephanie enlists the aid of Lulu, Ranger and off-again on-again fiancé Joe Morelli in the pursuit,
when the trail leads to the involvement of a scary and dangerous criminal Eddie Abruzzi and a deadly killer rabbit. HARD EIGHT will not disappoint Evanovich's fans. Nestled amidst the action and horror, readers will find episodes sure to double you over with laughter. HARD EIGHT continues to explore the sexual tension between Plum and Ranger and her fascination with Morelli. HARD EIGHT, another winner from the talented author Janet Evanovich.

Summary: The best Stephanie Plum Novel yet!
Review: I have read the first 7 Stephanie Plum novels and liked them all. This one I liked the best. I laughed out loud many times throughout the book. It does help to have read the first seven books and to know the history of Stephanie's relationships with Ranger and Morelli and to follow their development.

Summary: Hard to Resist
Review: The 8th book in the Stephanie Plum series is pretty much as good as the other 7. It's another page turning, action-packed, well plotted, well written novel. Most of the usual beloved characters are here as well as a new one - attorney Kloughn (Clown) - who I'd like to see remain as a regular. Stephanie's main task in this book is to find a missing woman and her daughter, as she is stalked by a relentless mobster. The problem I have with this book is that some of the situations are not believable. The author does not give Stephanie a really good reason to keep seeking the woman after the mobster keeps trying to kill her. The reader has to ask themselves, 'Why is she continuing with this??' I think Ms. Evanovich went a little too far stretching our imaginations in this book in several situations, to the point where she brings us out of the novel back into reality, darn it. On the other hand, things heat up between Stephanie and Ranger. That, and the general good read the book provides, as all of the "Plum" books thus far, makes this a must read.
