Rating: Summary: Past the peak ! Review: This wonderful quirky series has passed the peak, and is sinking fast.I thought Three to Get Deadly was the best. Four to Score was the start of the downhill journey. It did have a neat 'quirky-character-of-the-month' in Sally, and Stephanie's romantic resolution was good, but other than playing house it covered no new ground. In High Five not only are we covering the same ground but it is done in a very pale and bloodless way. There is little time spent on any one thread, the result is all are uninteresting. I felt no sense of terror over the champ, no sense of jealousy over Terry, and no sense of anger over Joyce. I don't even care much about the ending, and being a Morrelli fan -- I should. Even this book's quirky character is a small and rather ordinary guy. We can only do so many wakes with the sweet granny from hell, and so many family dinners before it becomes ho-hum. Even the exploding car bit, and big blue are getting tired. JE seemed like she was trying something new with Ranger and Stephanie 'working' for him -- but it just didn't jell, and the tone really didn't match. There is nothing funny or quirky about Ranger and what he does. Both Stephanie as Vigilante, and Stephanie as woman who scorns Morrelli are neither believable nor interesting, let alone funny. I hope that JE can bring a second wind to the series -- but until I see some evidence of change I will wait for the paperback from here on out.
Rating: Summary: Superlative, very intriguing Review: Nothing I've read this year can compare to The Triumph and the Glory, but High Five comes close. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it!
Rating: Summary: I just can't get into this one like I did w/the others. Review: "High Five" may be an OK read, but I can't seem to get into it. I'm almost halfway through it and it's not really holding my interest. And, Janet, if you read this, I think you should know: '53 Buicks do NOT have seatbelts or E-brakes that pull up!!!!! Stephanie is NOT driving a 'Vette!! Hopefully I will make it through this one.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! One of her best! Review: I have read all five of the Stephanie Plum books. and I have enjoyed them all. But this one is the best one yet. It is funnier and sexier than the others and the mystery is a good one. The ending left me wanting more and I hope Janet doesn't keep me waiting too long to find out what happens next. I give high, high marks to "High Five."
Rating: Summary: Better than I had expected!! Review: WOW!!! I just loved this book! I ordered it before it was published - my husband claims I'm addicted to the series. The day I got it I started it and couldn't put it down. I am just about jumping out of my skin for the next one to come out - hurry up and write Janet! :)
Rating: Summary: I THREW THE BOOK ACROSS THE ROOM!!! Review: I loved every minute of the book. I read it in one day. I couldn't believe the ending!!! Everyone I know who has read it is screaming for number 6. Please, Janet, have mercy on us -- don't take a year for #6.
Rating: Summary: Loved the book, hated the ending. Review: I loved this book, and will anxiously wait for the next one in the series. The humor is laugh out loud quality and the characters are quirky, either funny or terrifying. I love the small but wonderful part her father plays, his reactions to his mother-in-law are perfect. The ending made me mad, because I felt it was a blatant maniputation by the author to sell the next book. Overall, the the book is suspenseful AND great fun.
Rating: Summary: A great, funny and fun Read Review: Stephanie, Grandma Mazur and Lulu kept me laughing out loud. Read the book overnight, could'nt put it down. Grabs your interest from the first page. Great mystery, good sub-plot and mag sexy men, Ranger and Morelli. Stephanie's long-suffering Dad is a riot. I eagerly await the next adventure.
Rating: Summary: I wish I could give it 10 stars!!!! Review: What a great book! This is by no doubt the funniest book I have ever read. The series just gets better and better. I don't know how I'll wait another year for the next installment....Hurry, Janet, hurry!!!!
Rating: Summary: Another good one! Review: I've read the whole series of Stephanie Plum books. I always find them entertaining and this one was no exception. I have to admit, I was disappointed that Stephanie's possible pregnancy and her living arrangements with Morrelli from the end of the last book, where totally dropped in this one. Why not let Stephanie be a mom and a bounty hunter? It's time! Anyway, the stuff with Morelli, Ranger and grandma was great as usual. I can't wait for the next one...
