Rating: Summary: A very enjoyable ride Review: Although now residing in Virginia, I'm originally from New Jersey. It has been wild fun to read the Stephanie Plum novels, set in Trenton, the last place I ever expected that someone could use successfully in any story that didn't involve a nuclear explosion. Who knew?I'm a big fan of the Spenser novels by Robert Parker, and I have to say that I laugh out loud just as often when reading the Plum novels as I do those books. And for some bizarre reason, the Plum novels also seem more realistic. I mean, anyone who decides mostly on a whim to be a bounty hunter would only be good at it on TV, right? Well, Stephanie is most certainly NOT good at it. But she learns, and starting out at the first book and going from there you will see that. Her life is pretty much a hysterical mess, with a crazy family, a stud cop friend/boyfriend, a stud bounty hunter/mystery man/sex toy, and a nutty bunch of co-workers, but she does sort of learn on the job. I enjoy the odd characters that keep popping up. I can see how that might bother some readers (sort of), but you really have to live in Jersey to appreciate how weird it is sometimes. These are great books--I can't put them down. Go get 'em! Read 'em! You'll enjoy 'em!
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: Janet Evanovich is a supreme author, one of my favorites. This book is one of her best. If I had to rate this series of books, I'd say #1 is One for the Money, #1 is Two for the Dough, #1 is Three to Get Deadly, and well, you get the idea...THEY'RE ALL GOOD!
Rating: Summary: How much do we hate Joyce Barnhardt? Review: Maxine Nowicki has skipped bail after a car theft charge made by her ex-boyfriend. Said ex-boyfriend wants some old letters back, there is much more to deal with for Stephanie, including gun-packing Grandma Mazur, new bounty hunter and evil "other woman" Joyce, who is the evil woman who was cavorting around with Stephanie's husband Dickie on the dinner table when Stephanie walked in. Stephanie's apartment is blown up and lo and behold, she has to move in with . . . Joe Morelli. Whoo!!! Can we say hot, people? I think we can!
Rating: Summary: Sexy Trenton Review: The author uses more or less the same story lines as before. In order to make it less obvious, she introduces some new main characters. I loved Grandma Bella of Sicily - the counterpiece of Grandma Mazur. I hope the author will develop that side of the equation some more. I was somewhat disturbed by the all-pervading sex that was not necessary in such quantities and seems to serve only to tintillate. But then, it is done with great humor and can be forgiven.
Rating: Summary: Every book gets better than the last Review: A few weeks ago I clicked on the icon for "High Five" by an author I had never heard about. All the reviews seem to say how good the plot was and how funny the book was. Since I hadn't heard of the author before I did what I usually do and find the earliest book by the author and start there. The early books are usually in paper back and cheaper. Generally an author develops characters along the way so that is what I did. I bought "One For The Money". Well I just loved it and quickly read 2 and 3 and am finishing "Four To Score". This is one of the funniest and most enjoyable series I have read. The only negative thing I have to say is that I have finally ordered "High Five" and when I am done I will have a long wait before the next novel comes out. If you havn't read any of the books I do recommend that you start from the beginning of the series and I hope you get as much enjoyment from them as I have.
Rating: Summary: The Best Yet! Review: My Aunt told me about the Stephanie Plum series and said they were great. I bought them all and spent the entire New Year's weekend reading one after the other. They were all great, but Four To Score was the BEST! This book made me laugh until tears rolled down my face! Stephanie's 'thinking' process about "Mr. Lumpy" had me on the floor. Lulu's description of a guy who was visually challenged...blind?...no, ugly. Was hysterical. I was also happy to see that Stephanie and Morelli FINALLY got together, but not surprised that by the end of the book they were back to playing the on again off again game. Yes, I agree with all the other reviewers, Ms. Evanovich has to write faster! Thanks for the laughs, we could use more of them.
Rating: Summary: LOVE THAT STUN GUN! Review: Four to Score was enjoyable by getting some background information about Morelli's family (and an even more intimate peak at Morelli himself)! All men should have to pass the Morelli romance quotient. It would produce lots of satisfied lasses. Glad Stephanie's enjoying him at last. My favorite character is Lula because she has a real go get 'em, knock 'em down attitude. Take that, Joyce! She can make even Stephanie look well-behaved. And yet, throw a little gunfire or a policeman her way and she rapidly evaporates. Definitely my kind of girl. I came into the Stephanie Plum series two years after the fact and have spent every available minute plowing through all that I had missed. I hope Janet starts putting them out twice as fast because I'll sorely miss having Stephanie (and Joe...) at my bedside each evening.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: We have read her earlier books and enjoyed them, and were looking forwards to reading "four to Score". However when we did, we found that the OVERUSE of swearing, reliance on "characters" and possibly too much sex got in the way of the action (not talking about the sex! )We do like a good going story and sadly this was not.
Rating: Summary: Go, Grandma, Go! Review: Of all the marvelous characters Ms. Evanovich has created, Grandma Mazur has to be one of the best. (Of course, let's not discount Sally Sweet. Now there's greatness------)But Grandma makes Grey Panther a meaningful term, believe me. The entire family, from speechless father to matchmaking mama, read true to life, but Grandma IS life. I hope she and Stephanie have many more adventures. It does keep a woman young - and a bit breathless.
Rating: Summary: The Best Read Review: Just when I don't think it could get better...Janet does it with Four to Score...I loved this book. The characters are genuinely funny and believalbly everyday people, at least in my neighborhood. Thank you for the entertaining read.
