Rating: Summary: action packed book Review: Great book, action-packed from page 1. Never a dull moment. only took a few days to read. It was not until halfway through the book when the murderer's identity was revealed. I dont read murder mysteries however I really enjoyed this one.
Rating: Summary: simply dissapointing Review: the characters in the book are stale. There is nothing interesting or unique about the main character Tommy O'mally. I couldnt figure out what the difference between him and Bill O'reilly himself. Although i like Bill O'reilly his personality doesnt go well with the "Melow, burnt out, lone wolf" O'mally. There's nothing special about his partner either. The only character who is somewhat interesting is Ashly vanburen, however she got boring fast as well! And the villian is just plain stupid! The only character who was somewhat cool is the Irishman from the IRA, who gives the murderer the sadistic ideas for killing his victims. Then there's the plot of the book... which wasnt interesting and could have been sumed up with a good short essay. Instead the book goes on for a 374 tedius pages. I also didnt like (on a personal level) Tommy O'mally's indirect mockery of christianity, which i think says something about Bill O'reilly the author. I had more respect for Mr. O'reilly before i read this book!
Rating: Summary: O'Reilly is the Man Review: Since I am a huge fan of O'Reilly and his TV news program, The O'Reilly Factor, I had high expectations for this book. He certainly didn't let me down. The cover hails it as a 'speed-read thriller' and it is, all the way to the final page. It probably won't take you more than a week to read this one.
Rating: Summary: True O'Reilly How True Review: Although this book was a O'Reilly first, it is definitely worth the time to read. Those who watch the O'Reilly Factor can feel the Authors style of writing. I found many times thinking this sounds just like Bill O'Reilly. But, this didn't interfere with this great work of fiction. O'Reilly hit the plot straight on. The media has too much influence on the way the public thinks and votes. The media should just report the facts and leave out their views. The media is a dog eat dog occupation. It is always digging up the newest dirt. O'Reilly depicts that if one is involved in the media life they had better watch their back. Because either they or their story is going to be erased. And if they are the one erasing everyones lives then they are bound to be next to be cut from life.
Rating: Summary: Bill O'Reilly at his best Review: Mr. O'Reilly gave this book the same punch that he does his news. He tells it like it is, not just what you want to hear, in his news, as he did in his book. It was an all-night read and I usually don't do that. I wanted to find out how the killer got his. Way to go Bill.
Rating: Summary: Fast-paced but uneven Review: O'Reilly did a good job of confirming what most of us have suspected about the world of television news. But the story is uneven and predictable. The dialog is stereotypical and amateurish. I did enjoy the first half of the book where he did a good job of building the characters. However, the story took too many predictable or unexplainable turns, ultimately leading to an unsatisfying ending. This book goes straight in the trash - something I rarely do. I wouldn't want my friends to waste their time.
Rating: Summary: O'Reilly Rocks! Review: I can't find any flaws with this book. I'm a huge fan of O'Reilly's so perhaps I'm a bit biased but his literary debut leaves nothing to be desired. If you want an exciting, fast paced read that you can't put down pick up this book! And while you're at it checkout his show on the FoxNews channel. O'Reilly is a multi-talented guy!
Rating: Summary: The worst book I ever read Review: It's a good yarn and escapist reading, but the tone is meanspirited. The author doesn't like anyone or anywhere. The characters are wooden. He tells, but doesn't show. I live in New York City and his descriptions of the city don't jibe with mine. For example, at one point he says the road by LaGuardia Airport is full of potholes. I drive on that road quite often and it isn't full of potholes and what do you expect from a heavily travelled road. Also he makes Levittown which is a nice little community sound like a slum. I am sure what he says about the politics of television reporting are true but really, bring in the human factor and if the television industry is so corrupt than love it or leave it.
Rating: Summary: The story pulls you along Review: I don't believe in speed reading, but I read this 374 page paperback in just over a day. It has a momentum of its own. I suspected that the broadcast world was full of back stabbing. This insider confirmed it. I couldn't sympathize with the victims. Apparently, neither could O'Reilly. If you have ever wanted to systematically kill off everybody who has stepped on your head on their way up the ladder, I suggest you do what Bill O'Reilly did: act out your fantasy on paper and look for a publisher. I sensed some very real grudges coming through this story. Some of the events were a bit far fetched for me, but I suspect O'Reilly had to tone down what he really wanted to see his anti hero do to these executive jerks.
Rating: Summary: What an indepth and honest appraisal of the Clinto regime!! Review: I read this book in 2 days it was so good. I could not leave it down for one minute. The details which were put forward really made me think about the scandals which abound us right now. Bill O'REilly has provided us with a unique indsight into the White House of the last 6 years. Excellent read.
