Rating: Summary: pleasant surprise Review: This was a pleasant surprise..although I have not read any of his books, I watch him nightly..I was amazed at his ability to bring many "pleasant" memories to an older/widowed female, done in good taste. His story line was easy to follow, and kept your interest, so unlike alot of the new and older writers of "thrillers"...He is a much more complex man than one would imagine, seeing him and listening to him. All good....
Rating: Summary: Only moderately interesting Review: This book is ok for light reading, I suppose. You learn a little about the world of media ambition, but since human nature is no different in different professions what you learn is hardly surprising. The sex is pedestrian and the murder plot not very exciting. I like O'Reilly because he is a right-wing talk-show host who is not a crazy Fascist like Hannity and Limbaugh and Gallagher and the rest, but a reasonable man. But he should stick to his radio and t.v. programs and give up writing the great American novel, which this is hardly.
Rating: Summary: Is this review helpful? Review: I find the reviews as interesting as the book. Even more so, the poll on the reviews. As you read the reviews, you will quickly see a trend. If you accept O'Reilly, you find the reviews helpful. If you don't like O'Reilly, you vote the review as unhelpful. I tend to ignore any review of one star or five stars. These most likely come from those who would like to kill his pet dog or those who would like to kiss his face. Right now those who would like to kill his dog are wining. Isn't it nice we have so many tolerant people in the world. Everyone is shouting but very few are listening and fewer than that are considering differing opinions. This is the sad state of society today. As far as the book goes, it may lack in literary grace but the point is the insight into the world of TV news. It goes deeper than the pretty face we see on our TV screens. O'Reilly makes the point that there is an ugly face beneath the mask. If you want to gain an insight into a business, especially one you may be thinking about going into, this story might interest you. For those of you who just want to slam O'Reilly, please find another way of expressing your "pithy" comments and do not use the neutral territory of Amazon.Com
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book Review: This is a mesmerizing book. Once I started it was hard to put it down. It had me spellbound until the end. Recommended for mystery and tv lovers.
Rating: Summary: Great Job, Mr. O...... Review: I'm a big fan of Mr. O'Reilly's in anything he does. This book was very good. Yeah, yeah, a little too much non-fiction thrown in there at times, but overall the plot was thorough and exciting. Like most of us, Bill despises corruption and evil and I think it's perfectly fine for him to write a fictional account of greed and murder. It certainly doesn't make him a hypocrite. It makes him an insightful guy with a great imagination. I see him as a decent, honest man.
Rating: Summary: Incompetence Review: If you like lame, sophomoric writing, with a strong dash of personal bias and enmity thrown in as poorly disguised faux-narrative, this is just the book for you. Ostensibly written by a second-rate intellect, (but surely 'brushed up" by a scrivener with at least a B.A.) I found the prose stupefying, the plot manipulations childishly tedious, and the less-than spectacular ending deducible by the 25th page. It is, however, an accurate commentary on 21st Century America, an island of stupidity in a sea of trivia. A perfect symbol for O'Reilly.
Rating: Summary: Now like Geraldo Review: I DID like Mr. O'Reilly. I even was fine with the former tabloid job that got him a "real" journalist position. But this book takes it all back. He is trying to be mainstream by writing a thriller and be a political spokesman at the same time. We don't take Geraldo seriously because he was a talk-show host, and yet Mr. O'Reilly thinks that he can write this and still hold onto his credibility? I don't see how. Just because he says that this is not for the kids does not make this book unhypocritical. Those who live in glass houses. . .
Rating: Summary: Now it's going to be a movie Review: I loved this novel and thought it was just right for the small or large screen.
Rating: Summary: O'Reilly: bad porn writer? Review: Here is an excerpt from this book: "Ashley was now wearing only brief white panties. She had signaled her desire by removing her shirt and skirt, and by leaning back on the couch. She closed her eyes, concentrating on nothing but Shannon's tongue and lips. He gently teased her by licking the areas around her most sensitive erogenous zone. Then he slipped her panties down her legs and, within seconds, his tongue was inside her, moving rapidly." Yup. Bill O'Reilly, the literary master of cunnilingus. This is perhaps the most hilarious thing I have ever read in my entire life.
Rating: Summary: Darn Good Non-Political Mystery/Thriller Review: It is really unfortunate that so many seem blinded by ideology,as there IS none to this book.It is well-written,tightly plotted, good characters,no political bent at all. Certainly not off-color,beyond some unmarried protagonists. Just a fine and interesting novel. These political fanatics who dislike the author need to separate themselves from their bias, and evaluate the BOOK. It is a good one.
