Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Not great... Review: I am not a huge fan of this author but this story really wasn't a great anything - no wonderful chemistry between the characters, the bad guy was bad but we really didn't care, and what is with all the broken sentences - almost every conversation would break off without completing the thought -IT WAS ANNOYING!!
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: The fire was put out even before it got started Review: I don't know what it is with Iris Johansen lately. It seems as though her most recent books don't seem to be getting any better, and "Firestorm" is no different. It's getting to the point where her books are extremely predictable: the heroine has some sort of deep, dark secret that only the tall, mysterious "stranger" is able to get to the bottom of. Not surprisingly, those two beat the villian, go together, and live happily ever after. Not that I don't like a good ending, but a little variety is needed, don't you think. Besides, why is it every time there's a strong female character, she has to sleep with the everpresent "stranger"? Even if there aren't really any sparks like this time around? To say the least, I was deeply disappointed.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Leave your skepticism at the door Review: I had a little trouble with the premise of comas inducing psychic powers. However, the book was fast paced, had some surprises, and was overall entertaining. If you want a fact based story, you can read non-fiction or the newspaper. For exciting, action-adventure with a good romance. I read Iris Johansen. I have to admit saving the world every time seems a little redundent. But again, I read for fun. This book filled an afternoon very well. Maybe it follows a similar scenerio as other books by her, I was so glad to get away from the rugged, handsome assassins in the last three books. Not that I did'nt love the books, or the men. Where do I find one? But reading is fun, and it is an escape from other worries. So go for it. For myself, I enjoyed this book!
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Disappointing Review: I have enjoyed Iris Johansen's books in the past but this one was totally second-rate. Unfortunately I purchased it. Just about halfway through one realizes it's not going to get better, it only gets worse. I have several pages to go and I will finish it eventually but it is painful to read. Repeat, repeat page after page.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Johansen fan not pleased with Firestorm Review: I love Iris Johansen, but I hate Firestorm. It is slow, doesn't engage the reader and after 60 pages, still has the reader wondering what is going on with the main characters. For the first time, I feel that Johansen is writing about characters and subject matter that she doesn't understand. That lack of understanding comes through in Firestorm. I hope her next book redeems her.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Disappointed Review: I normally enjoy Iris Johansen's books, but this one was a major disappointment. The biggest problem was the childish, repetitive dialogue and total lack of character development. Hope her next book has more depth and interest than this one did!
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Disappointing... Review: I normally LOVE Ms. Johansen's books, however, I just couldn't "bond" with these characters. It wasn't the ESP-like skills I had problems with, it was that the characters just weren't REAL. They had no depth and Kerry's response to injuries and death in her own family just weren't believable. I was disappointed because I was prepared to like it as well as her others...
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: A major disappointment Review: I usually enjoy Iris Johansen but this book is at the bottom of the list for me. The plot is interesting which is why I stayed with the book but her characters never came to life for me at all. They weren't even vivid enough for me to see why they would fall in love with each other. When I closed the book I felt like I had indeed been looking at them through smoke. And for all the buildup toward the climax, the climax itself was....anti-climactic and unsatisfying. But most disappointing is that it didn't ring true when she reveals the nemesis from the main character's original nightmare.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: A BIG disappointment!!! Review: I've read several of Johansen's books and have considered her a pretty decent writer, enough so that I thought I was in for a treat when I saw this on the library shelf. I'll finish it just to see what happens but I'm totally disappointed. The story line is there but the characters are tired. She hasn't fleshed them out enough to be believeable. The dialogue is often stilted and unreal. I'm very glad I borrowed this from the library. It's not worth buying.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: LIKE CONSTANT BICKERING? Review: If you enjoy reading dialog with an ongoing argument for over 300 pages, you'll like this book.
I am a big fan of Johansen, but I wanted to tell these characters to "go to their corners" every step of the way. Instead of their relationship adding to the dynamic of the story, it was such a distraction that I even gave up caring
what happened.
I won't stop reading her books, but this was a big disappointment.
