Review: "Firestorm" is a supernatural mystery thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat as you read the day (or night) away. Arson Investigator Kerry Murphy barely escaped a fire that took her mother's life, so she takes her job very seriously. Brad Silver's brother was murdered, a burning car the weapon. He wants Kerry to help him unmask the killer, so he uses his mental gift of planting suggestions to get her to go along with his plans. Admittedly, at first I had a problem with Silver's psychic abilities, but that kind of stuff is normal in Iris Johansen's books, so I accepted it and moved on with this really electrifying and super story. Boy does Iris ever know how to get your heart pumping.

She was in a coma for more than a year and as the years past the precognitive powers she woke up with became stronger. Her particular skill was catching arsonists because when she was at the scene, she was able to psychically see what the criminal did; she often helped the police catch the perpetrator.Brad Silver saw his brother and his sister-in-law die in a car that spontaneously combusted thanks to FIRESTORM, a black ops weapon of mass destruction. Trask intends to sell the weapon to a foreign buyer but before he does, he wants to kill the scientists and the politicians who opposed the existence of the weapon. Silver, a high level telepathic, coerces Kerry into helping him track down the man who killed his brother and who could plunge the world into Armageddon. While working together, these two independent, tough minded individuals find that they are linked together by more than just a common cause. Iris Johansen has written another exciting thriller that will land on the New York Times Bestseller list. The two protagonists find time in between murder and mayhem to fall in love but Kerry is afraid that loving Silver will mean giving up her independence. It takes a tragedy to show her how wrong she is but readers will adore her and her phony arson dog Sam because both have plenty of heart. Harriet Klausner

Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: This book stinks! Review: Do not waste your money on this one. If I had gotten it at the library I'd have quit reading halfway through (and it never got better). There is absolutely no thrilling suspense of excitement to the story whatsoever.

Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Good Quick read Review: Firestorm was a good, quick read. I enjoyed the pace until the end. Having read all of Johansen's other books, I think the end could have been better. I really like Kerry. I look forward to more books about her.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: What A Wallbanger! Review: FloridaGirl has it right! Whiny, shallow, and terminally stupid heroine. I know any book premised on two psychics out there working together has a suspension-of-disbelief requirement, but after awhile the plotting got to be a bit much. George, the British-born (to parents in domestic service) ex-US Secret Service bodyguarding butler with CIA and FBI contacts everywhere; Carmela and Rosa, who with federal arm-twisting can be removed from a mother who won't protect them from abuse in the home and given to the heroine at the end of the book as sort of live-in domestic therapy; Trask, our evil-villain arsonist, who, while evading the forces of the US government could use his North-Korean-supplied US henchman to track down all sorts of information about our heroine's background and family, and who regrets that he won't have enough time available to explore the fact that he considers the heroine his soulmate before he has to kill her; and Silver (as in Hiyo?), who falls in love with the heroine for no earthly reason I could see, since she's an idiot and has been a complete b**ch to him, but because they're psychically linked, and he's really lonely, they have mind-blowing sex. Her father's rationale for the nature of his relationship with Kerry and his son Jason made absolutely no sense to me. And cliches? They're everywhere, so watch where you step. What a disappointment!

Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Taking all I have to get through it Review: I am currently trying to finish this book. I figure I owe it to myself to find out who the killer is, since I suffered through it. I got this from the library, so luckily I did not pay to read this. I can usually read a book in a day, two at the most, if it is good and I have the time. This one is a hard to follow, very boring story. The characters are more a brother & sister than two people trying to start a relationship. No "sparks" what so ever. I could really care less if they get together or not. It would probably be better if they went their separate ways. I have read a lot of this author, and I don't know what went wrong, but this is really bad.
