Rating: Summary: Warning label needed! Review: If ever a book needed a warning label, this one does! I purchased this book to read on a long, long plane ride I have coming. However, I made the mistake of just peeking at the first few pages. After that reality ceased to exist. I kept reading until I finished the book. I'm just glad I didn't open it on a night before work. This book really should have a warning label, but if for some reason you're fasting & want your time to go quick ... I think the most interesting thing about the entire book is how completely plausible it all is. In the days were even the smallest companies routinely "inspect" email, it makes a person think about how open our lives have become. Definitely Read - but be warned! p.s. He also has a fantastic web site.
Rating: Summary: Grab on2 your seat its a thrilling ride from beginning 2 end Review: The research is unbelievable, Dan Brown obviously did his homework!!!!!! What a masterpiece, it's the best book I've read in long time. Maybe Big Brother really is watching. I can't wait for Dan to unleash his... next novel.
Rating: Summary: Great first effort and a good read ! Review: Dan Brown has attacked a deserving organization with a stimulating, fast paced, mystery/adventure that I could not put down once I began reading. He has more twists n' turns than an irritated rattlesnake. I enjoyed the book and am looking forward to his next effort. Thanks Dan, if you get to San Jose, CA. in your book signing tour, I hope there's sufficient publicity to insure that I can attend and meet you. --Monte--
Rating: Summary: READ THIS BOOK Review: I'll tell you what, I read a lot of books, not just techno thrillers, but all kinds, horror, mystery, classic, etc. This was a great book. It just amazes me that some people have the talent to script such cool stuff, the kind that keeps you reading well into the night until you realize it's 3AM and it's your turn to drive the kids to school the next day. Congrats to Dan Brown on his debut I look forward to more off the press.
Rating: Summary: Don't start this if you have to be somewhere else Review: Be afraid, be very afraid!! Killing to protect secrets that may not really be secrets anyway. A government that doesn't trust its people, a people who are too naive to believe their government might spy on them. Amazing story, wonderful characters and terrifying in its realism. DON'T START THIS BOOK IF YOU HAVE TO BE ANYWHERE ELSE--BECAUSE YOU WILL HAVE TO CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT!
Rating: Summary: If you like Tom Clancy... Review: You will devour this novel. An exceptionally readable intelligence agency thriller with a high concept- lots of action- secret codes- and a fantastic love story. One of those rare pageturners that lives up to its promise. Incredible twists. Superb descriptions of the NSA and their secret operations. You will find yourself engrossed instantly in this story and wish it never ends.
Rating: Summary: More addictive than caffeine! Decaf doesn't work!! Review: This book is A MUST!! I'll rate this book 15 after reading it for the third time, which will be soon!! The well-rendered realistic characters, the wonderful plot full of conspiracies and twists, the two-sides of every single character and a rush of adreline pumping through your bloodstream as you move closer to the end... BUY THIS BOOK AND FEEL THE PRESSURE PUMPING YOUR BLOOD TILL 3 IN THE MORNING! I am one very busy teenager who have an average of 6 hours of sleep each day, but Dan Brown is really keeping me up all night!! The codes are well hidden in this book, and after you read it for the second time, not only does it make you go "wow!" but you'll just love it more and more!! A word of advice: Before you buy this book , you'll want to buy some decaf coffee or just 'switch' to decaf. It does helps a little to prevent you from pulling an all-nighter. I can't wait till his next novel.
Rating: Summary: Digital Fortress was great: exciting, clever, entertaining. Review: This book was a treat. There were several clever plot twists which really kept you guessing. The premise was believable which increased the excitement level. I wouldn't recommend it for a vacation book unless you're expecting rain, because you won't want to put it down.
Rating: Summary: Xtra hi-pace, intriguing concepts, techno-imagery - a blast! Review: After reading the Truth Machine, this one really picked-up the tempo. The pace is *intense*, but character development and expository on the digital encryption do not seem to have taken a back seat -- a real feat of writing there. It reads really fast, too, I wish there was just a bit more book! I wish there actually was more editorializing on the moral issue of whether or not we need to have something like the NSA around. Hmmmm, maybe not! The only books I recall with this kind of *urgency* are Jurassic Park and Hunt for Red October -- good company. If someone doesn't make this into a movie, it'd be a shame.
Rating: Summary: Page Turner Extraordinaire Review: Started this book on Sunday afternoon and finished that day. Could not put it down. It reminded a bit of Eric Van Lustbader's works, which we haven't seen in a while, but only a bit. I've been eager to find a thriller that does not involve the main characters being chased. We do have a chase here, but it's really a chase within a chase. I can find no criticism of this book, except for one minor detail, which probably no one else would consider criticism. It's just that this reader is extremely tired of the "breathtakingly beautiful girl". This book would have been just as good without that detail. Couldn't the Commander have been in love just with her mind? Anyway, I hated to come to the end of this novel and look forward to more by this author.
