Summary: Total Fun, Great Dog
Review: Hilarious. Great characters. Never a dull moment. Con after con after con will make you wonder if this stuff could actually be done. Great dog, too!!!

Summary: WOW!
Review: This is the first book I have have read from Stephen Cannell, and I am looking forward to reading more. Tricky Vicky is full of surprises! I relate to her well, and Cannell has a way of portraying his characters as real people that can be anyone. This is certainly well written and full of life!

Summary: Cliched hack work without a single graceful quality
Review: I only looked up the reviews for this book to enjoy seeing others dump deserved scorn on this book. Imagine my suprise when everybody loved it. My initial thought on this book, besides thinking every plot twist was stolen and unartfully retold, was that this book should be a great boost for aspiring novelists - the bar is not as quite as high as you thought. Now I don't pick up a crime/thriller book for literature, but I do expect a little wit and originality. I remembered the Rockford files as having at least a little of these. This book does not. I plan to pick up this book again - maybe I am the one who is crazy - but I could not believe the estatic reviews.

Summary: READ THIS BOOK,IT'S GREAT!!
Review: This is the first Stephen Cannell book I have read. I tried it because I have always enjoyed his T.V. series. I was not disapointed. It was a fast paced entertaining read. The characters were fun to read about. I had trouble getting anything else done but reading about Beano and company. Just one thought, I get a little tired of people who put modern day authors down just because they do not write classics or what others deem to be classics. I read to be entertained and not so I can go to a book club and try to impress people. What happens in books does not have to be real or even feesible. Enjoy for the simple pleasure of reading and escaping into another place for a short time. So let's lighten up on the Cannell's and Grisham's of the world!!

Summary: It made me want to join in the fun of the Con!
Review: What a wondefully fun book! I haven't read a lot of this genre of book and King Con was a nice first introduction into it. I listened to the audio book version and the reader really added to the experience - they found the perfect voice. The sense of humor that ran through the book (even with the bad guys) was great. I am now looking for more Cannell books to listen to or to read. You will not be disappointed if you're looking for a fun adventure!

Summary: A great read but a far fetched ending
Review: Anyone familiar with the O.J. case knows that truth is stranger than fiction. Fiction is bound by the laws of believability and Mr. Cannell violates those laws toward the end of the book. Nevertheless this book is a GREAT read. The ending is a bit hard to swallow and one that is only seen on the A Team and in B movies. That is as it should be since the author is also the creator of that TV series. The story is good and a lot of fun.

Summary: Fast paced, exciting, and fun!
Review: This book was utterly fantastic! Stephen J. Cannell uses just a few words to paint vivid pictures of his characters, the mark of a truly talented author. King Con is about a big time con man, Beano Bates, who after being savagely beaten, attempts to bring down the mafia don who almost killed him. Along for the ride is the prosecutor who tried to put the mafia don in prison, and a large group of Bates family. This book was 450 pages long, and every word was incredible. I was almost sad to see the book end, it was that good.

Summary: An extremely entertaining book.
Review: This book is FUN, FUN, FUN!!! My only disappoint was that it had to end. I loaned it to 3 of my friends who also had the same response. The author has a great sense of humor.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Well written dialog and plot. Well developed characters.
Review: I enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and entertaining. Very believable characters. Cannell can write great dialog. The language was a bit harsh at some points (due to the mature theme) but not over done like Scarface. I will certainly check out his other works.

Summary: King Con, is an "X.-celant" read, I sat on the chairs edge.
Review: King Con, is my first "non-Rockford" Cannell read. It was better than I ever expected. It follows the adventures of one B.X. Bates, as he cons his way to riches and revenge. Bates is aided in this venture by several members of his colorful, cunning, and con-ing family, as well as a few surprise helpers. He finances his escapades with his wit and his gift of gab. B.X. Bates as "King Con" brings you excitement at every turn of the page. If I were a betting man! I would bet that any reader of this book will "create free time" so they can sit down with it as often as possible. King Con, is the book you will loan to a friend, never to see it again, so be wary.
