Summary: The Roger Moore film does this Novel No Justice
Review: This novel is my first real Ian Fleming novel. It has an elaborate plot invloving a scheme to seek vengence for the defeat of Germany in WWII. Sir Hugo Drax is a British nobleman with a mysterious past and fortune. He offers the British a nuclear super-rocket: the Moonraker. Suddenly, an MI-5 agent is murdere by a German scientist in a murder/suicide. After Bond stops Drax in a card game at M's private club, M recommends Bond as MI-5's replacement. His trainig is for overseas operations, but he reports to Drax's compound. The leading lady is Gala Brand, from the Ministry of Supply, who Bond never seduces(surprise!). Bond and Gala uncover a plot to destroy London. Unlike the movie, Bond never leaves England. The one star is deducted since the card game is too long. Overall, a fantastic book.

Summary: Don't Be Fooled By the Movie
Review: This third book in the James Bond series is easily better than the first two. "Casino Royale" was dark and lacking in character development, while "Live and Let Die", though better, seemed to have a few plot holes despite the exotic locales and awesome villain. In "Moonraker" the plot moves along at a good clip, the villain is easy to despise, and we get a good view of Bond's life in London. Though the notion of a missle capable of saving Britain from nuclear destruction at the hands of the Soviets now seems a bit quaint, the story hooks you immediately and keeps you interested. A lesson learned: don't be fooled by the movie. Having seen all of the James Bond films, I can state unequivocally that "Moonraker" is my least favorite. Thus I approached the book of the same title with a bit of trepidation. Definitely not warranted; "Moonraker" the book is a good read, different (and better) than the movie. Certainly the best of the first three books in the series. Recommended for lovers of espionage tales; required for James Bond buffs.

Summary: Great book!
Review: This was a good read but it had nothing to do with the movie except for the name. Also, since it was written in the 50's, it is a little behind modern high-tech spy thrillers. But it is still nicely written and enjoyable to read.

Summary: Bond is human
Review: This was the first Bond novel I've ever read. The most shocking (and the most pleasant) thing I got out of this book: Bond is human. There are many moments, especially in the earlier chapters, where we actually get to experience the everyday doubts that plague this man, such as his own mortality (will he actually live to see 40?). The professional relationship between 007 and M is also revealed in ways that the movies never can, such as Bond recalling that M doesn't like to hear "ummmms" or pauses of any kind when listening to a report.

Besides those points, everything else was rather straightforward/standard. We have the flamboyant villain, and the villain gives his villifying speech before leaving the room (to give Bond and his girl time to escape, what else?). There certainly seemed like there was more blood and pain in this book than the movie, which was refreshing -- high-stakes spying, after all, is most likely a business that leaves one shaken, not stirred.

Summary: Moonraker is pure brilliance.
Review: Through James Bond's many adventures he has had to deal with men who are obsessed with world domination and destruction. But in Moonraker Ian Fleming creates an amazingly real picture of a classic villain, not bent on world domination, who uses his intelligence to succeed. Although Hugo Drax is completely unbelievable Fleming's description's make him and his story of revenge on Great Britain come alive. In some of the most exciting and gripping scenes of all of Bond's adventures we seem to get to know Bond and his detective work better. Another reason that this book was so entertaining was the fact that the Bond girl, Gala Brand, was even different. Gala never really fell madly in love with Bond but all the while she kept her appeal and she is probably the most useful and most appealing of all the Bond girls.

Summary: Moonracker
Review: You must be thinking, "Bond is cool but not in books" well your wrong. Ian Fleming`s Moonracker is a fiction/crime book in which will you read it and you will do lots of predictions during the book. Like in all of James Bond's stories he has missions in lots of countries and he will face lot's of eneyms. Like always he will have a "Bond Girl" she is the woman who will help Bond during the mission. The ex-Nazi Sir Hugo Drax, elaborates a nuclear rocket called MOONRACKER to destroy England. He is planing this attack against England because England defeated Germany in the Second World War. The first part of the book is about Drax cheating in a card game. M, Bond's boss tells him to investigate why dose Drax cheat in those card games. The second part of the book is which Bond and Gala Brand discover the evil plan against England. Actually Gala discovers, and saves Bond time. The most exiting part of this book was certainly the part when Bond makes an extraordinary enter inside Drax silo.

I think you should read this book because it's not complicated, It relays a lot on Bond's thoughts and Galas to. Ian Flening described the scenery the character personality perfectly. I have read 2 James Bond books so far, "Dr. No" and this one so far. Moonracker is I think more suspenseful and there is a lot more trouble for Bond. So that means I preferred Moonracker. The book is more is fantastic I'd say and who reads this book will definantly see that Bond is fantastic both in the movies and in books.
