Rating: Summary: Very Nice Book, a few nuisances Review: I truly enjoyed reading this, but I won't go into much detail about the book. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys the other Clancy novels. It is a bit atypical of a TC book in that Ryan is the hero, but is in an inactive role. I also suggest that anyone who dislikes the Minnesota Vikings, the San Diego Chargers or possibly the city of Denver read the book. The one major issue I take with this book is in the refusal to listen to Ryan by the president and the security adviser. It is a believable scenario, but It just takes the "ignore the boy scout" theme too far. It adds to the story, but it just doesn't seem reasonable. The other gripe, which is also applicable to other Clancy's books, is the excessive nationalist viewpoint that he displays. Clancy seems to be trying to show some world-encompassing views, but he's actually making it worse.
Rating: Summary: Tom Clancy at his best with this thrilling novel. Review: Tom Clancy has done it again. Just when people thought that Clear and Present Danger was the best Clancy could do, he outdid it. Sum of All Fears is a thrill ride that just doesn't stop. From the U.S. to the deserts of the Middle East, Clancy shows you the underground life of the world terrorist. A must read.
Rating: Summary: enough with the acronyms! Review: This book is good! I liked it a lot! But it took me two tries to finish it the first time after my 5th grade year I couldn't remember what everything stood for and forgot important stuff. After 7th grade I decided I was man enough to read this book. Read it I did. Made it all the way Through this time and liked it. In parting I would like to say that while this was my first of his books I figured that Jack Ryan would save the day, which he does, but he does it from a communications room not out in the field. Kind of a surprise to someone who is used to novels where the hero in the end goes out and kills lots of people rescues the beutiful girl and saves the world not this time, but I think it is a good book myself.
Rating: Summary: Read it! Review: The author narrates so many different histories that end up being related with each other that makes it like reading 5 or 6 novels at the same time while making you understand that in some part of the book everything you've read before will be important to understand whatever will happen next. You'll appreciate the Russians, hate the American President and his loved one, and make you feel and intellegency agent. You'll manage to read it chapter by chapter up to a point in which it becomesan authentic page turner
Rating: Summary: This is Clancy's Best Review: This book is a definitely Clancy's best. This novel was great from start to finish. It was so good I actually finished reading it on a noisy bus traveling to a cross country meet. The setting was great tying in all of the characters well enough to get to know who was who. It was not a big story with 100 undeveloped characters that one doesn't know who the auther is talking about, which I find very annoying. The beginning of the book was very real in the fact that a bomb could get lost, if not in the exact way, in a way similar to how it happened in this novel. A great part of this was the complex plot by the terrorists to put the world on end and THIS was only outdone by the journey to the completion of the bomb,my favorite part. It was so real, in fact, that I was almost afraid of the radiation being emitted by the nuke right beside me. Finishing this book is no hard task because the anticipation of the ending ia great and it comes together climacticly. It is one of very few books I've read put together well enough to maintain my interest the whole way through. It contains an acuteness and conciseness uncommon to any novel let alone a 900 pager.
Rating: Summary: Peace in the Mid-East Review: Mr. Clancy's remarkable talents are on the move again, this time in the Middle East! He has pit the extreme violence of the terrorists against the extreme protectionists of Israel and thrust them together in one hell of a story! Once again, Jack Ryan is used to build a novel of suspense, tension and hope for peace in a troubled region. Mr. Clancy has the gift of the magi in this novel, he takes us where we all hope one day to be in reality, BRAVO Mr. Clancy!!
Rating: Summary: Disappointments from Tom Clancy Review: I wish I didn't have to rate this so low, but the truth is the majority of the book was boring. The last four books I've read have been Tom Clancy's, and I must say "EXECUTIVE OREDERS" is a much better book.
Rating: Summary: A good action book.Very exciting.it was so detaled! Review: This was my first TOM CLANCY book I read BOy was In for a big surpries I thought it would be boring.but it was action packed and exciting! I regetmend This book highly!
Rating: Summary: The Most Intriguing Book I have read yet! Review: I read this book a littile while ago, and I felt it was the best book I have read by the author. Clancy includes such vivid details throughout the book. This was a page turner from begining to end, and I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: This book will entertain you, teach you, and make you think Review: This is my very first Clancy novel. Many say it's a bad Clancy book to start on, I had no troubles. This novel is high on information and technology, you can tell the author did his research. The numerous plots that unwind and eventually mold together by the end are exciting, and add variety to the novel. If you're looking for a book that puts you in a realistic political environment and you have a few hours, this is the one. P.S. If you have a fear of nuclear war, I wouldn't recommend this book.
