Summary: Poor showing from a good writer
Review: I normally like war time novels. I have read every one of W.E.B. Griffin's books, some several times. The Men at War series was originally written under his pen name Alec Baldwin, and came before all of his other series. This sequel to those two books is a poor follow-up to the first two. I felt the author was just going through the motions to make another buck after the re-release of the first two books in this series ( under his real name this time). Mr. Griffin, don't take this personally, but you can do a lot better.

Summary: Not that good
Review: I ordered this one along with the new WWII novel The Triumph and the Glory, and found it rather weak compared to Griffin's past books. He seemed to just be going through the motions with The Soldier Spies, and has strayed from his strengths by getting into covert ops and stuff. The Triumph and the Glory was GREAT!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: As usual, WEB delivers.
Review: I read a review copy of this manuscript and it was vintage Griffin. Fictional characters caught up in real events written at a pace that will keep you interested. Also recommend Bob Mayer's special forces books which Griffin gave a blurb to when they came out.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Another W.E.B. Griffin rerun.
Review: I sometimes wonder if Griffin ever develops a new character or a new story line. After reading about 20 of his books everything seems like a tired re-run. It is a wonder we ever won the war with the amount of time that these "super-egos" spend at war.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Good military fiction
Review: I've always enjoyed WEB's work. I recommend another author-- Bob Mayer. His special forces series gives a real insight into the men who now wear the Green Beret.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The Soldier Spies
Review: Like all W.E.B. Griffin books this book shows the personalities of it characters and makes you like them.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: OK
Review: Not as good as The Corps books, or written in the searing '90's war fiction style of The Triumph and Glory or the more generally popular Schaara Civil War novels--but Griffin is still Griffin, he knows his stuff.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: i look forward to any griffin books.
Review: not necessarily reviewing this latest book, but in general would like to say, I had not read any books in over 20 years until my father asked me if I would like o read the corps series. After starting with book one I found I could not put down the books. I read the complete series in 1 week. I have since read the Men In Blue series as well as all other books written by W.E.B Griffin. I have since re-read the books and look forward to any and all new books.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great, not quite as good as pervious ones but still great.
Review: Real good book. It's not quite as good as the previous two, but still well worth the read.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Vintage WEB Griffin lore
Review: The book centers on individuals comprising OSS and is a continuum on the theme of Wild Bill Donovan and the exploits of the OSS. This volume obviously lays the groundwork for upcoming editions.
