Rating: Summary: Good Read. A real page turner. Review: Excellent book W.E.B. Griffin is a master story teller. It's just to bad he can never finish a series before going off on a tangent. He really can't care about his readers or he would never have done The Generals which was a terrible book and a very lame attempt to wrap up that series. I wonder which will be the next to join Men at War as an abandoned (for 10 years) series.
Rating: Summary: Classic Griffin Review: Great steady action- vintage Griffin. i would like to know what happened to McCoy, Pickering,etc........
Rating: Summary: Wonderful depiction of people's lives during war Review: Griffin is excellent in the ways of character description. He captures the reader by going deeper into the lives of a group of realistic characters and true issues at a time of total chaos and destruction. I couldn't put it down.
Rating: Summary: It is fantastic, Griffin know his subject. Review: Griffin knows how to fit history with fiction and he has a real knowledge of the military. I read this book originally under his Alex Baldwin name and found the series fasinating.Would you please encourage him to continue the series through 1945 - there are plenty of OSS actions.
Rating: Summary: Previoulsy published; the story hasn't continued! Review: Griffin started this series years ago and hasn't come anywhere close to finishing it; this book isn't new! The story is great; comon Mr. Griffin, lets get on with the story...........at least the CORPS continues, is it six weeks at a time, every year or so??
Rating: Summary: A Re-run of 1986 issue. Review: Had anticipated a continuing of Corps series. The description did not iondicate that this was a reprint from the past. It is being returned today.
Rating: Summary: The sub plots are growing old Review: I generally enjoy W E B Griffin's books, but the characters and sub plots are growing thin. I'm beginning to think that only the the rich and politically well connected truly contributed to the war effort. Or perhaps that the rich have this special ability to know when they can casually break security without adverse consequences. The sub plots are getting hoaky!
Rating: Summary: Average-but nothing to write home about Review: I just finished the book, and am convinced that it could have been much better. The largest problem was the ending. The ending doesn't close the book properly, and the reader is left hanging. Also, the book is anti-climactic. The action didn't seem to rise and fall like it should. There was also no sense of completion-we don't know enough about the plot to understand what exactly we've accomplished by the end of the book. The characters were interesting, but nothing seemed to come together. In summary-only pick this up if you've got nothing better to do. For those interested in the WWII spy thrillers, let me recommend The Unlikely Spy by Daniel Silva. It's much better. If the genre doesn't matter, why don't you pick up anything written by Robert Ludlum instead of this? It's bound to be better.
