Summary: A great end to a fabulous series...
Review: *Murder Boogies with Elvis* is the eighth and final book in the Southern Sisters mystery series by Anne George. As with the previous seven novels, I loved every minute spent with Mary Alice and Patricia Anne and their families. If you haven't read these yet, definitely try the first novel, *Murder on a Girls' Night Out.*

In *Elvis*, Mary Alice is planning her fourth marriage (widowed three times) to Sheriff Virgil Stukey and Patricia Anne is continuing to enjoy her retirement and planning the return of her pregnant daughter, Haley, and her husband Phillip from Russia. When Stukey and Mary Alice invite Patricia and her husband to a night of fundraising to renovate everyone's favorite semi-attired statue, Vulcan, the Rockette-like Elvis impersonator routine ends in one less Elvis. Unfortunately, the murder weapon is found in Patricia Anne's purse days later, and once again, the two sisters jump into the investigation, hoping to find the murderer in time for Mary Alice's wedding.

What an enjoyable end to the Southern Sister series. We will mourn the loss of Anne George and enjoy the entire series for years to come.

Summary: I saved this one back, knowing it would be the last...
Review: ...and now that I'm done, I'm sadder than ever that Mouse and Mary Alice's adventures are over. I really liked the entire series--it was lighthearted and fun and made me laugh when I needed a laugh, and that is no small thing in this world. Anne George will always have a special place on my bookshelf, and her characters will live on in my mind.

Summary: Elvis Fun
Review: A quick and light reading book that will make you laugh out loud. Half the fun of being an Elvis fan is enjoying the influences found in all walks of life. While the real Elvis is not the main subject of this murder mystery there are plenty of good times and dead bodies to keep us all interested!

Summary: Death Boogies with Elvis is best Southern Sisters book yet.
Review: Anne Carroll George's Southern Sisters mysteries are fun to read. Females find few gentle, let alone amusing, words in print ANYWHERE, with reference to mores understandable only by Southern women. Most write of the South and it's traditional piccadillos with utter disdain. Anne Carroll George eases pain for the loss of that distinctive accent our region ceded to TV and carpet baggers years ago.
Death Boogies With Elvis is a good mystery too. Not until close to the end does one give up George's red herring and finally "catch" the murderer.
How sad to find that Anne Carroll George is gone! Many mystery fans, particularly of Southern extraction, will miss her delightful books.

Summary: She did it again
Review: Anne George writes a series that not only is a well constructed mystery but brings to life a sister relationship that most of us can relate to.

This one is another winner

Summary: The Southern Sisters Win Till the End
Review: As a mystery author with my first novel in its initial release, I shared the sadness felt throughout the mystery community upon the death of Anne Carroll George. Ms. George was an excellent and entertaining writer, and MURDER DIRTY BOOGIES WITH ELVIS proves my point perfectly. All of the elements of Ms. George's works are here as the murder of an Elvis impersonator must be solved. This book is well-written, with a twisting plot and a light tone. I enjoyed it thoroughly and only wish there were more of these books to come.

Summary: We'll miss you, girls!
Review: As always, I looked forward to the next installment of the Southern Sisters mysteries. When I discovered that Mrs. George had recently passed away, I broke down and sobbed. I felt it was not only the loss of a great talent, but the loss of a friend as well. After reading her first book, I had written her a fan letter because I, too, had an Aunt Sister. She not only graciously answered my letter, but sent me her home address so it wouldn't take so long for my letters to reach her through the book company and later sent me her e-mail address. We corresponded after each book and when my dog passed away, she wrote me a letter that I will always treasure. All of her books are wonderful and this one doesn't disappoint. Patricia Ann and Mary Alice are up to it again trying to solve the murder of an Elvis impersonator. If you have never read any of her books, start with the first one and read them all. I plan to read them all again. Thank you, Mrs. George. You will be missed.

Summary: Maybe the Funniest of the Series
Review: As usual I was captivted in the first few pages. Mouse always seems to have interestings situations at home i.e. her own way of fixing the tiles under her sink that dissolve into laugh out loud happenings. Sister and her newest wedding plans are a hoot then add in the multiple Elvii, a dead body, a pregnant daughter, an old dog and you can't put it down. I gave the book to my best friend and she was laughing so much at it, she woke up her teen-age son who listened to the first 2 pages and said "Mama, let me read that when you are through". Surely this is a good recommendation for different age readers! I was just devestated to read that Ms. George has passed away. I think the humor and great characters in her Southern Sisters books are a good legacy for her. I hope her family knows what pleasure she has given to her readers.

Summary: This goodbye is just so painful
Review: Every summer I have looked forward to my visit with Sister and Mouse, i just realized how much when I learned that Ann George is no longer with us. She filled their lives with such love and spirit and I just know that all of those emotions lived inside of her. To her real life "Fred", my prayers are with you, I know how much I will miss her and I only got to visit once a year. I intend to contact her publisher and purchase as many of her older books in hard cover as I can find becasue I know that these paperbacks we never survive the number of rereads I intend to do. Goodbye Ann and thank you.
