Summary: Pretty Boring for Stuart Woods
Review: What happened to Stuart Woods? I felt like this book was written by someone else. I have read about 10 of his books and I have loved every one of them, except Under the Lake which I found a little strange. Most of it was predictable. Maybe this book was just too "political" for me.

Summary: Yuk!
Review: Pithy. Liberal Democrats will love this book.

Summary: Run away from this book!
Review: What a mistake I made by reading this book. This was my first by Stuart Woods and will probably be my last. The writing was simplistic, his characters shallow (those he even bothered to develop), and the ending was a joke. As a former political professional, I must say, his knowledge of the process is pathetic and his lack of respect for views other than his own is obvious. If you want a good political novel, check out "Primary Colors" or "The Running Mate" by Joe Klein.

Summary: RUNS on tooo long
Review: I have read many of Mr. Woods' novels and this is by far his worst. His transparent attempts to promote the liberal political agenda overshadowed the already predictable and plodding story line. What made it even more boring was that he had few of his political facts straight. There were many technical errors in the book (eating chocolate will kill a dog and the social security number IS a military individuals service number). The funniest line of the book is the very last one ( author's note), where Mr. Woods instructs his readers that to find his older books go to a used or online bookstore, or " otherwise, you will have to go to a great many garage sales." I am glad I borrowed this book from the library; having to pay for it would have added insult to injury.

Summary: A feather in his cap
Review: I have read every one of S. Woods' books, but this one was my first big disappointment. It is obvious Mr. Woods wishes to promote his political agenda, which he has every right to do. But it so overshadowed everything else, that the story line was lost. If making all conservatives look like dishonest morons was his goal, he certainly succeeded in this book.

The story was predictable and certainly not his best, but my enjoyment was also very tainted by his unabashed promotion of the liberal viewpoint as the only intelligent, honest way to go.

Mr. Woods, many of your fans are conservative. Please don't slap us in the face with such one-sided, offensive, and actually untrue writing.

Summary: A good book on the beach (or plane)
Review: Sometimes, you just want to pick up a book for fun and lose yourself in it for a few hours. Stuart Woods's THE RUN is the perfect way to kill a few hours on the beach, on a plane, or on the back porch this summer.

To be sure, the plot is nothing spectacular, and for veteran readers of political thrillers, it definitely tends toward the predictable. But Woods does a nice job in keeping the story interesting and giving the reader a good narrative to follow, and it is pretty clear from the structure of the book that Woods has visions of another sequel (authors just LOVE to have their characters become president for some reason). To his credit, Woods does not make the mistake of other authors who have written sequels--having too many "in-jokes" or opaque references to previous events from earlier books. One does not have to read GRASS ROOTS first to enjoy the current offering. My one major complaint about the plot is that it takes several large leaps in time that seem to interrupt the flow of the story, but then Woods's books are not the 900 page epics produced by Clavell or Clancy.

Neither a classic nor a clunker, this book is worth reading, especially during an election year.

Summary: RUN To Grab The Run!
Review: This has to be one of Stuart Woods's best books, excluding the Stone Barrington ones. Will Lee and his wife, Kate, are going to be the next president and first lady of the U.S. But there are a couple of people who don't like that idea and they will go to all extremes to let Will not succeed. Better read this one on a weekend because it is hard to stop. Looking forward to the next one Mr. Woods.

Summary: Had a ways to go
Review: I am a big fan of Mr. Woods but this book was a little slow and somewhat predictable. Bring back Stone Barrington!

Summary: The Run
Review: As usual, a great read. However, just a little too predictable. After what we've been through with the political years of Clinton, I guess nothing would surprise us. Looking forward to another book asap.

Summary: An Outstanding Book
Review: When the book is over you know the characters. I disagree with other reviews: I believe the book is filled with little twists and turns that make it most enjoyable. I raced through it, cover to cover, and have several friends lined up to borrow the book. Thoroughly enjoyable. I too look forward to the next 'chapter' in the life of Lee.
