Rating: Summary: Broken Wings Review: Typical VC Andrews, pulls you into the story and you can't wait to turn the next page! Contrary to the others I've read this is the first book and is setting you up for the next. The final pages has you wondering how are the 3 lives going to be entwined together in the next book. If you liked VC Andrews in the past, you'll like this one!
Rating: Summary: MOSTLY GREAT! Review: Well here we go again! Two people beat me to the punch on reviewing this book but as a TREMENDOUS VCA fan I had to add my two cents! How refreshing! A book that could have been a mini-series (but isn't), this book is more challenging than the previous mini-series titles! It is interesting how much all the girls have in common and how they all wound up together in the same school (prison?). I can't wait for Midnight Flight to see how it all works out for the girls! And course, I am HOLDING MY BREATH FOR ANOTHER FULL-LENGTH SERIES! Hear that, Pocket Books? ROBIN is great. TEAL is also fascinating reading. Phoebe is the most weak part of the book, because it gets into too much teenage rivalry. And how I miss the "old" VCA heriones who weren't helpless but instead were imaginative, strong, and gritty! I hate to say it, but this book needed a good dose of "old fashioned" VCA incest to make it more compelling! I am VERY HAPPY that it was published in hardcover to add to my VCA hardcover collection! As I do with every review, I recommend EACH AND EVERY VC book you can get your hands on. Also, if you know who the ghostwriter is (No, I'm not going to reveal his identity!) you will want to pick them up to compare writing styles. You will be happily surprised! HEARTILY RECOMMENDED IF YOU LOVE V. C. ANDREWS AS MUCH AS I DO!
Rating: Summary: Getting Better -- Thank Goodness! Review: Well, after reading quite a few of V.C. Andrews books, I am relieved to say that our ghostwritter has finally found the groove. Orphans and Shooting Stars and whatever the heck the other miniseries was, were alright, in some parts, and just plan reeked in others. This one, however, actually got me into the book, and the ending actually made me curious and want to go read the next book; what a book should actually do. The good: New types of characters, not so innocent, not so bland The bad: It got repetitive and predictable by the end The ugly: The sex scenes. If you can't do it right, don't do it at all
Rating: Summary: Really, really bad... Review: What can I say about such a book except that it was really, really bad? Abysmal. Personally, if it were up to me, I would have put a stop to this 'dragging VC's name through the mud' a long time ago. She was a wonderful writer when she was alive, and this ghostwriter should just quit writing. They should just put her name to rest before it gets any worse. What's the book about? It's just about a bunch of whiny girls who are born to be bad. I'm through Teal's story now, and I'm struggling to drag myself through Phoebe's, it's that boring. Teal was just a whiny brat, Robin...well, I hate to say this, but her sarcasm wasn't witty one bit, nothing like Melinda Sordino from Speak or Holden Caulfield in Catcher in the Rye. She came off as just bratty. I'm sorry, but this is one of the worst books I've read in a long time, and I read a lot. I wouldn't recommend this to anybody. You'd get more from staring at the wall twiddling your thumbs than you would from reading this book.
