Summary: If you like the show...
Review: ...you'll enjoy the CSI books (including Double Dealer). It's interesting to see the TV characters in print acting as we expect them to. The writing is smooth and the plot is interesting. It's a fast and enjoyable read.

Summary: CSI: Sin City
Review: A lot like the TV show. But there are some extra bits of insight....like, I did not know that the CSI team that we watch on Thursday nights is actually the 2nd shift. But when you think about it they always seem to be on the crime scene at night.
Good TV novel.

Review: As an avid fan of the television show, I was not sure how the characters or stories would translate into print. Usually it is the other way around, and people complain that the movie was not as good as the book. However, Collins did a superb job introducing the characters (for those few people who may have never watched the show) and giving some appropriate background. I also loved the way Collins used actual events from the series that had lasting effects on the characters and weaved them into the book. For example, Collins discusses the impact of the Holly Gribbs murder on Brass's career. This event happened in the pilot episode, and I was glad to see that it was not forgotten. The storylines in the book are not earthshattering, they are not even as good as some of the classic episodes (remember Paul/Paulene the serial killer??), but if you are a fan of the show, you can't help but love CSI overload. The dialogue is classic, and is a little more ranchy and lifelike than can be allowed on network T.V. I recommend this book as either a companion to watching the show, or as a starter novel into more complex forensic novels (try Patricia Cornwell).

Summary: Visit to Sin City As Much Fun As I Hoped!
Review: Don't skip this one if you don't like TV tie-ins! I rarely read tie-in novels, but I recommend this one! I picked it up as much because I like Max Allan Collins as because of the connection to CSI. I have watched CSI on TV a few times, and enjoyed it, but didn't expect much from a novel based on the show.

"Sin City" delivers an entertainingly complex story with the mix of gritty forensics and Vegas atmosphere that I enjoyed in the TV show. It is a solidly written novel, and you do not have to watched the show to enjoy it. Max Allan Collins is such a good writer that I recommend this to any mystery fan. And I hope that CSI fans who enjoy this will go on to try some of Heller's other novels!

Summary: A Must Read For Fans Of CSI
Review: I can't get enough of the TV show CSI, so I was delighted to find this book series. Gil Grissom is investigating the disappearance of a woman. Catherine is looking into the murder of a stripper. Collins has captured the characters as seen in the TV show perfectly and the humorous banter between the characters lightens the mood as it does in the TV series. I was afraid this would be a story I had seen before, but it was all new. A must read for fans of CSI.

Summary: Lighten up, csi humor
Review: I love the show, loved Max's books. I love it that the nerds get to be the heros. I think that its the humor that gives the very serous subject matter its balance. I love that Max Allen Collins understood the characters enough to use humor in his books.

One that really stands out is the sceen where Gil is in a video store and asks the clerk if he has a copy of the movie "Manhunter". The humor came when I remembered that the same actor who plays Gil in the series, also star'd in "Manhunter", much better version of "Silence of the Lambs". I could almost see the sly smile that comes on Gil's face when he interjects knowing humor into the series. Don't you just love in jokes.

I hope I didn't spoil the books for anyone. If I did, I'm sorry.

Review: I love the television series of CSI. This book did a great job of capturing the feel of the show, but it is just not the same. It is a great book, I just believe I enjoy the television show in all its drama better than the book.

In this story, there are two murders to be solved. The first is a missing wife. Her husband is suspected for the murder, but seems to have an alibi. The second murder revolves around a stripper who is strangled on the job. Everyone seems to be blaming her ex-boyfriend, but there is too much evidence that points to a female.

No matter how crazy the murders seem, they are never to hard for the CSI's of Las Vegas. Give the book a try. It will have you turning pages faster than you realize.
