Summary: HEART BREAKING
Review: I never read a story twice, however this story is a big exception. From the start to finish you are drawn into these two young souls life. I cried my eyes out at the end. DONALD GOINES IS ONE OF THE BEST AUTHORS I'VE EVER READ.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The Best Goines Novel
Review: I never would have thought of writing a review before but I had to put my two cents in on this one. This was the very first Donald Goines novel that I read (almost 10 years ago!!) and I absolutely loved it. Mostly because I could relate so much to the charachter Sandra. But my review isn't on this book, it's on Donald Goines. If you havent read any of his books, I can definately say this is the one to start on, and then read them all. All of the reviews on the back covers (they're mostly the same actually) are totally true. The novels are deep, descriptive of ghetto life, and if your not familiar with that life they are also easy to read. Since all of his stories are based on the streets, sometimes you may feel as if your reading the same story because the dialogue doesnt change much, but no two charachters are the same. From Sandra, a young teenage female in Black Girl lost, to Larry Jackson, an older gentlemean who is a hitman with a family in Daddy Cool, even to Paul Pawlowski, an older WHITE man in Never Die alone, Goines has an entire of array of pimps, ho's, drug addicts and any kind of person the streets has to offer that you could choose from.

My one and only complaint about his novels are that a couple of them (the Kenyatta series in particular) are a bit on the ridiculous side. In the 70's, just how many young black rebels were learning to hijack an airplane AND fly it underground....Anyways!! Without telling any of the stories, I would encourage anyone to buy all of his books as I have. I make it a point to read Black Girl Lost every summer, as an anniversary of the first time I picked up a Donald Goines book and fell in love. I dare anyone to take my challenge and fall in love, too!

Summary: ONE FOR YOUR PERSONAL BOOK LIBRARY
Review: I READ BLACK GIRL LOST IN HIGH SCHOOL. I WAS SO CAPTURED NOT ONLY BY THE CHARACTERS BUT BY THE BEAUTIFUL AND UNIQUE WAY IN WHICH HE WAS ABLE TO PUT THE STORY TOGETHER SO VIVIDLY. TRULY ASTONISHING! IT WAS LIKE HE WAS ABLE TO MAKE YOU FEEL EVERY SCENE AND NEVER SKIPPED A BEAT... A GREAT LOST...

Summary: Reality Based
Review: I read this book in a day. This was the first Donald Goines book that I ever read, therefore, I didn't know what to expect. However something about the title drew me to it when I saw it in the bookstore. The book is simply about unconditional love that made me smile at the relationship that Sandra and Chink shared. I was happy when they were happy and mad when they were mad. I wanted revenge as much as Chink did at the end, and understood Sandra's actions during the last 5 pages. Even though the story is reality based, the plot was unpredictable and vivid. Great read, and I recommend it to all who are looking for something refreshing and real.

Summary: Not what I expected
Review: I see that my review is not like the others. I didn't like this book. This was the first book that I have read by Donald Goines and I don't care for his writting style. Some parts of the book was elementry.
I do like the so-called "ghetto luv" books, but this one did not grab me.

Summary: A great book about African american urban youth.
Review: I think he did it again, Goines showed us how brillant he is. The book was beautiful it took us deep in the life of a young blackgirl, trapped in a fast life at a early age. with a mother who was a wino, a boyfriend who sold drugs she went through it all and stayed strong all the way to the dramatic end. On the scale of 1-10 this book gets all 10, enjoy.

Summary: One of my all time favorites
Review: I'm 33 yrs old. I read Black Girl Lost in 1980 while in Jr.High School. I love all of the new African-American authors such as E.Lynn-Harris and Lolita Files but my heart remains with Donald Goines. He was the master. I had a collection of the Donald Goines books until I had lent some to friends who had never returned the books. But for some reason I had never lent Black Girl Lost to anyone. I still have it. I've preserved it. Will always remain my favorite book and I've read lots of books in my time.

Summary: Boo!
Review: Most everyone else liked this book but I did not. To me it was unrealistic. At some points it was hard for me to get off of one page because it was so boring. And the way she called Chink, "Daddy" was kind of corny. Yeah the pain and the love between the characters was understood, but maybe this book could have been written better. So i guess im in the minority here but I would not recommend this book to anyone. To me it wasnt worth reading (sorry David Goines).

Also, in my opinion, there is no way that this book compares to The Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah. That's the book right there!

Summary: A love story through the eyes of Donald goines
Review: Not quite as good as dopefiend but stilla pretty darn good read. it's a love story about Sandra and chink a pair of star crossed lovers on the run. That's all I'll say about that without revealing the rest of the plot. But this is standard Donald goines fare here. Very quick reading an exciting story and two characters that you really have empathy for. A good quick enjoyable read that should please Goines fans.
