Rating: Summary: "Thrilling Page Turner !" Review: Politics, terrorism, and freedom of religion, is the backdrop for this action-packed, page turner by James W. Huston. I enjoyed "The Price of Power" very much. The characters were believable which kept the court room scenes exciting.
Rating: Summary: ONE GREAT BOOK Review: This book has it all. Trials, Politics, military matters, and is very suspensful. I recommend this book to anyone even remotely interseted in any of these story lines.
Rating: Summary: Good all around read Review: This book..my 1st James Huston..i found very good..many story lines with Dillons life, his girl, his friends, his associates, and add to that the admiral and the president and it was nice and interesting..Im a new reader as far as novels go..But I found it very Clancy like in a real good way..look forward to his next and also i have accuired the Balance of Power..
Rating: Summary: Excellent Reading Review: This is a fantastic book which kept me up late for two nights in a row. It is a wonderful blend of Turrow and Clancy and keeps the reader turning page after page. This is a must read for anyone who likes courtroom drama or armed forces action.
Rating: Summary: A super read! Review: This was great follow up to his debut novel!. I thought it had the elements of Seven days in May and the political drama of Advise and Consent. He is on my must read list from now on.
Rating: Summary: US Navy 2 Bad Guys 0 Review: What a great follow-up to Huston's first novel. Pardon the cliche, but, I couldn't put it down. Fast-moving, plausible, and a true political thriller that weaves great action seamlessly into the storyline. The only negative comment I have is that I don't see a third book in this "series". Not really sure if the same characters can be utilized again. I was a Huston fan after "Balance of Power". Now I am a "groupie".
Rating: Summary: RIGHT WING FANTASY Review: What a lame book. It is at best a weak ripoff of the Clancy novels. Only an idealogue could believe in the preposterous characters. To whit: all conservative and militaristic characters are god-like in their skills at "warrioring" and (god forbid) "lawyering." It is reason-stretching enough to have a congressional aide discover a "hidden" meaning in the Constitution that leads to an unbelievable confrontation between a "superstar" Admiral and a pacifistic President; however, when this aide takes on the defense of said Admiral, his angelically pristine paramour actually quits as the Assistant Counsel to the President to offer him aid and comfort. No rational plot line would have such an inexperienced lawyer put on such a bravura performance! The book is a weak entry into the right-wing galaxy of attempts to glorify conservatives and vilify anyone with an opposing thought. My money was wasted on this tripe.
Rating: Summary: Politics, legal battles, and the military=the perfect mix! Review: While I thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Huston's first novel, his follow-up is even better. I found it impossible to put this book down! With a great mix of politics, legal wrangling, and the U.S. Navy, this book is a must-read for any fans of Stephen Coonts, Tom Clancy, or John Grisham. I can't wait for the next book!
