Summary: A definate must-read!
Review: Like everyone else, I also thought it started a little slow, but once the storyline actually kicked in, it was really worth it. The details of the time spent in Vietnam was awesome! I fell in love with the character of Donny Fenn, and Swagger was at his usual heroic self. I recommend this book as well as Point of Impact.

Summary: Captivating from the first sentence!
Review: 'Time to Hunt' is a thriller/mystery/action novel that will drag you into the life of Bob Lee Swagger, a former Marine sniper who finds himself tied into a massive intelligence and counterintelligence plot that runs from the early sixties through the late nineties, and from the jungles of Vietnam to the streets of Washington, D.C. to a remote valley in Arizona. This book is a modern masterpiece, and Beau Bridges' rendition is absolutely marvelous! After hearing this book on CD, I bought the unabridged version, and it's EVEN BETTER! If you loved this book, you will love 'Point of Impact', another intelligence/counterintelligence masterpiece involving Bob Lee Swagger. This book is Stephen Hunter at his best!

Summary: Very good edge of yor seat thriller!
Review: Time to Hunt is an exellent book for readers of Bob Lee Swagger. It fills you in on a lot of info. about Donny and the sniper who killed him and wounded Bob. Warning: don't attempt reading this book without Point of Impact.

Summary: Slow Plod to the Obvious
Review: This tale took far too long to tell. While the character development was generally good, the motivation for some of the key players was murky. I expected the unexpected and got ... the expected.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Powerful, textured suspense
Review: I don't agree with some of the other reviewers about the beginning of this wonderful book. I found the buildup, especially the descriptions of the atmosphere and characters in Washington circa the Vietnam era fascinating (I was there). The descriptions of the action in Vietnam was riviting and as usual, the reader really doesn't know where the book is going until the very end. I gave this book as a present to a woman friend who is usually averse to violence and she absolutely loved it. I think only the end was a little too formulaic for me. Like the other readers, I couldn't put it down once I started reading it.

Summary: Well worth the read!
Review: I purchased the abridged audiobook version of this book, and then let it gather dust in my bookcase for several weeks before deciding to listen. I had a nagging feeling that I had picked a "stinker" since I'm really not into "war" stories and this one referenced Vietnam. Wow, was I wrong. The book is great! I even liked the beginning -- which some people said was slow. For me, it built up the suspense and painted a picture of the characters I was reading about. Then the book got even better! The suspense, the action, the cunning of the characters, all adds up to a very good book. All I can say is, read it. It is a book I would highly recommend.

Summary: Extremely detailed excitement
Review: A worthy addition to the Bob Lee Swagger trilogy. As much detail as anyone could possibly want concerning snipers and rifle ballastics. Like a previous reader, I finished the last 200 or so pages in one shot, finishing at 2AM (never did that before for any book). Can't see how anyone could complain about this book, except for perhaps the miraculous "presumptions" on the part of Bob in some certain key scenes, like the security password. But hey, it's a novel! If anyone who complained about this book has a better book in this genre, please write me so I can read it. I personally don't see how this can be topped for what it is.

Summary: Usual nail-biting Hunter thriller
Review: Time to Hunt got off to a slower start than is customary for Hunter novels. Instead of delving right into the action, the beginning of the novel provides previously unknown background information which at times got a tad boring. Usually this is provided as the story unfolds.

The story progresses into a typical Hunter thriller with more twists than a pretzel. As usual, unwilling protagonist Bob Lee Swagger, has a dangerous scheme dumped on his doorstep which he adroitly thwarts.

Hunter defintiely has the knack for creating exciting plots in his hard to put down novels. His knowledge of the world of the sniper is truly astounding.

I highly recommend this for action and adventure readers.

Summary: "A Good Read!!!"
Review: I concur with prior postings that it took a while for the action to really get going, but I did end up reading the last 120 pages in one shot. Seems like Bob made too many ridiculous guesses that turned out to be right on the money (house alarm combinations, secret artwork, etc), but it did make for a good story. I prefered POI and BL, but this was still very good.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: a little dull
Review: Hunter's latest lacks the freshness of either "Black Light" or "Point of Impact". The characters are less memorable, and by now we all know the formula. The inessensial Bob Lee Swagger novel.
