Rating: Summary: Great ending to an awesome series! Review: First off, if you haven't read any books in the Bob Lee Swagger series then do yourself a favor and read them. You really don't know what you're missing. Start with Point of Impact (the best book in the series and one of the best books i've ever read),then read Black Light and finally end with Time to Hunt(a close second). Ever since the series started i've been waiting for the story behind Donny Fenn and his relation to Bob Lee and to the sniper that changed both their lives forever. Well with this story I recevied all that and more. Mr.Hunter has this amazing ability to combine the past with the present as well as combining multiple viewpoints within each time frame, and in this book he does this better than ever. What makes this book so good? Well, Bob Lee Swagger is a start. You love him for his faults and for his strengths but mostly because he kicks some serious .... Mr. Hunter also includes a vivid supporting cast of realistic characters that complement Bob very well. Mix in some interesting sniper jargon and ALOT of edge of your seat action and you have one ...-kicking read.
Rating: Summary: One Of The Best Review: Simply one of the best novels I've read for years with a lot of clever twists and techniques. This is by far the best Stephen Hunter novel and is his master piece.
Rating: Summary: Unbelievable Review: I found this book in a book sale and it looked cool so i picked it up. The first chapter had me hooked already. The book looked real big and it was hard to tackle, but with Hunter's great ideas he kept something going on the whole time. Some parts seemed confusing but it all pulled together in the end. The plot kept twisting and turning with different things happening in each chapter. The parts where they went off into missions were the most exciting parts. All in all a great book must have a great ending. The ending was unbelievably addictive which made it an excellent book overall. 10 out of 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: TIME TO HUNT IS A NO-NO!!!!!!!!!!1 Review: This is the ninth Hunter book I have read. This is theworst one of them.Ihought Tapestry of Spies was bad but at least I finished it. in Time to Hunt I finally hung it up after reading 109 pages. The prologue was great and I thought, this is going to be anothergood one. The next 109 pages were all about Donny Fenn. Nothing else about Bob Lee Swagger. I guess he showed up later but I figured after 109 pages and no Bob I would leave it be. I still think Master Sniper, Point of Impact, Black Light and others I have read were very, very good. Time to Hunt was just bad, bad, in my humble openion.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book EVER! Review: Hunter has got to be one of the greatest authers of all time! The plot of this book is so complex and exciting, and that is what makes it so great and interesting. There are many action scenes that make you drop your draw, nearly cry, and make you want to keep on reading this ingeniously planned out book. I think Hunter has a great gift of writing such cultivating books and this has GOT to be his best...
Rating: Summary: Swagger at his best! Review: Steven Hunter has hit one out of the park on Time To Hunt. He's incorporated numerous characters in interwoven stories yet has managed to keep it very clear where each is going. Bob Lee Swagger, although older now and not as spry, is on top of his game. His character is so real, that you swear you know him, or someone very similar in appearance. This book literally kept me turning pages till way past my bedtime. I was afraid if I put it down, something would happen and I'd miss it. In the movies, they call a story like this an "On the edge of your seat" kind of thing. I don't know what they refer to it as in book form, but it's the equivalent! Highly recommend it for anyone who likes great action and a hell of a story!
Rating: Summary: Very Fun Read Review: An engaging yarn- you will burn through this one in no time at all. One negative, Hunter's use of family (and women in general) is fine for what it is- a motivating factor for Swagger's actions- but the character development and dialogue of those who are not "military" or even, dare I say it, not "male" are tough to swallow at times- as is Swagger's interaction with them. Take it for what it is, an engaging story about one kick-ass dude on a wild ride and leave the lovey dovey alone.
Rating: Summary: Time to HUNT Review: I;m 13 years old. I've always wanted to be a Marine sniper. I've been reading similar authors like T. Clancy, J.R. Garber, and D. Brown, but this book is at the top of my list. It's the first I've read by Hunter and he's the best. Bob Lee is not one of those pretty boy action heros that always wins. He has his own share of personal problems. If you haven't read anything else, read the following: READ THIS BOOK!!
Rating: Summary: Almost as good as Point of Impact Review: There were only two things I didn't like about this book. First is the coincidence that saves Bob Lee in the introduction (heroes should be saved by themselves, not dumb luck). Second is the ending which seems to eliminate the possiblity of another book in the series (at least one which occurs after Time to Hunt - there's plenty of stories in Swagger's past). Other than that I loved this book. As in Black Light, the past and present are beautifully intertwined. The plot is interesting and action packed. A nice touch is the occasional hint of vulnerability Swagger shows (I loved the thing with the parachute). In Point of Impact he was a little TOO good. He was more believable here. I'd recommend this read to anyone, even people who don't like the guys-with-guns genre. Just do yourself a favour and start with Point of Imapct and Black Light.
Rating: Summary: Time to read a good book Review: First Hunter book I read and the story was good enough to keep me intrigued to the end. I really liked the character 'Donny' but couldn't relate to Bob Swagger, he's just not my kind of hero. Very good book though. The first half is better than the second half of the book. I will try another Hunter book.
