Rating: Summary: The Switch Review: New York Times best selling author of Tishomingo Blues, Elmore Leonard, writes the story The Switch. It is about a woman named Mickey, who lives with her wealthy husband Frank, and their son Bo. When Frank and Bo leave for business and a tennis tournament, Mickey's plans take a sudden detour. Leonard changes the point of view every few chapters, and introduces us to the characters Ordell and Louis who met in prison where they were doing time for grand theft auto. Ordell and Louis decide to join together and kidnap the wife of a loaded Detroit developer and hold her for ransom. Running into Mickey, they keep her locked up in a friend's house. The kidnappers find that not only is Frank gone on a business trip; he is also staying with another woman, and has also filed for a divorce just before he left. Ordell and Louis have to switch plans and find a way to get the money, but when Mickey gets an idea of what's going on, she wants her share of sweet revenge. Overall I enjoyed the book a lot. The book is twisted all over, you never know what's going to happen next. If you enjoy books that keep you reading, this is the one for you.
Rating: Summary: Absorbing, cool and extremely funny Review: "The Switch" is another great Elmore Leonard read. It's absorbing, cool and extremely funny; you won't want to switch from "The Switch"! SHAFT-like Ordell Robbie and white Louis Gara have just devised a brilliant plan: they're going to kidnap the wife of a multi-million-dollar golfing ...and demand a $1,000,000 ransom. The problem: it turns out the cranky golfer recently filed for devorce! Quite fun and also quite hilarious, it features a variety of characters, not the craziest of which are a cultist Nazi-worshipper and a stoned, sex-loving young 'un looking for...something. A recommended read!

Rating: Summary: Slick, Smart, & Savvy Review: Elmore Leonard does it again, with this hip tale of a kidnapping gone horribly right. Crisp dialogue, smartly paced action, great characters. It's unpredictable but always believable. It's Elmore at his finest.
Rating: Summary: WISH I HAD SWITCHED FROM THE SWITCH!!! Review: Have read several Leonard books and this may be the worst one I have read. The two so called "bad men" remind me of my self if I tried to do what they did. NOTHING goes right. Ordell Robbie and Louis Gara grab Mickey Dawson, wife of Frank Dawson, to hold for ransom. Frank could care less. He has a mistress and does not want his wife back. This makes Mickey very upset and she decides she wants part of the action with Ordell and Louis. Meanwhile, the mistress decides she wants to be part of their plan too. You will meet crazy Richard, who likes to shoot people. There was page after page of just talk. Nothing happening. I kept thinking it would get better but no such luck. If you are having trouble sleeping try this book.
Rating: Summary: LINDA from NY Review: I haven't read a book in probably 5 years (having 2 children in that time frame will do that) but I was to pass this book along to my husband from his brother and wound up opening it and was hooked from the first line. Started it Thursday afternoon and finished Monday night. It kept me interested the whole time; I certainly can't recall a moment where I wished the book would move on. Looking forward to reading more of Leonard.
Rating: Summary: Taranteno recomends,.... Review: I live in Michigan. Leonard in a celeb here, but I never read any of his books, until I heard Quentin Taranteno had his cast of "Jackie Brown" read "The Switch" before they started filming. Yes, I know "Jackie Brown" is the Leonard novel "Rum Punch". So being a huge Q.T. fan I read "The Switch". POW!!! I have a new hero,....his name is Elmore Leonard!!!

Rating: Summary: FEMALE AWAKENING Review: Mickey Dawson is cute but naive. Engulfed in the social world of tennis and country clubs, Mickey is out of touch with her life and almost a zombie with her uncaring husband, Frank. And she really should know Frank is up to no good.Famed thriller writer, Elmore Leonard, looks carefully at Mickey's marriage in THE SWITCH and finds it empty. But Mickey takes a long time to get it. Rationalizing, she makes excuses. Numb, she avoids confrontation. Ignorant, she finally gets smart after meeting an ex-con with a botched up plan. But Mickey does grow and she doesn't get mad, she gets even. Leonard shows her switching from a suburban zombie into a complete woman. Too bad the rest of her friends at the country club couldn't be switched on too.
Rating: Summary: Particularly recommended to Groove Holmes fans! Review: This was the first Elmore Leonard book I read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of great dialogue and plot twists.
