Summary: Great!
Review: I could not put this book down! I had resisted reading Nelson Demille for years until last summer when, on vacation by the pool, I FINALLY picked up the Gen's Daugh...after that I read every book I could find....Lion's Game was one of the best...GREAT characters and character development, and interesting story...and the best sarcastic humor! I love that he refers to at least three other books and a movie...Very entertaining! Can't wait for the next one...Write faster Mr. Demille!

Summary: DeMille is an American treasure
Review: Forget Grisham, Patterson, Baldacci. These guys may sell, but they sure can't write. DeMille does both! If you've never read Nelson DeMille, now is the time. The Lion's Game is DeMille at the top of his own game. And after you've read this one, go back and read every single book he's ever written. He'll delight and entertain you time after time, with intelligence, humor and suspense.

Summary: Enter the mind of a murderer...
Review: Asad Khalil is the most intriguing, diabolical, and brilliant villain since Hannibal Lecter. Far from the cardboard bad guys typical of the thriller genre, Khalil is a well-rounded, fully imagined character. His grisly career makes for horrifying reading. This is a book that will keep you up until five in the morning, turning the pages softly while your wife snores beside you. Or your husband. If you're single, you can turn the pages as loudly as you want.

DeMille simply writes better than his peers. His sentences don't have the sickly palor of so many thriller writers; his protagonist is a flesh-and-blood man, not a sorry imitation of James Bond.

If you're looking for a wildy entertaining ride, and you're not afraid of some serious nastiness, give this book a chance.

Summary: An excellent followup
Review: Mr. DeMille has written a supurb sequel to "Plum Island". His main character, Corey, is quite humorous in his interaction with the Feds. The only error I detected was his reference to a safety being manually disengaged on a Glock pistol. Kudos to a fine American writer and 1st Cav vet.

Summary: DeMille is unstoppable!
Review: Nelson DeMille and John Corey are both characters of extraordinary charisma. In his latest work, DeMille skillfully weaves a web in which the reader finds himself trapped, unable to put the book down. Corey is colorful and unforgettable and it is our luck that DeMille decided to bring him back in this latest book. Mr. DeMille is one of the few authors of today who writes solely to tell a story and entertain his audience. I am proud to call him a colleague and friend.

Summary: A Great Start
Review: The Lion's Game was a great way to start my new year's reading. DeMille's previous novel, Plum Island, was my Book of the Year in 1998, finishing first out of 96 books read and reviewed. The Lion's Game is its equal. The plot and ending are far less outlandish than Plum Island and correspondingly more plausible...if a little slower. DeMille's humor is once again outstanding and I laughed out loud several times, but not as often as in Plum Island. This book will be tough to top in this year's rankings, but I'm reading Hiaasen's Sick Puppy right now and it's coming very close.

Summary: The Lion Turns into a "Editor Wants a Sequel"
Review: The book was very absorbing. I did read it in two days so I was quite entertained. However, this ending left me out in the cold, waiting for the real ending. It's fairly obvious that Mr. DeMille's editors talked him into writing a "cliff-hanger" ending, waiting for the real ending in the sequel to come. I was very disappointed because I loved "Plum Island" and "The General's Daughter," both of which ended very satisfactorily; in that they had endings which were obviously endings. The characters were generally multi-dimensional and spoke believable dialogue. I'm sorry, but the ending just wasn't one this time.

Summary: A master at the top of his game.
Review: Nelson DeMille is simply amazing. Plum Island was the best book I've read in at least five years, The Lion's Game is better. Trademark DeMille dialogue, exciting, well-paced plotting and rich, hilarious characters. What else does one need? This book should be #1 for eighteen months at least.

As an author of two thrillers, Left Bank and Suspicion, I am particularly impressed with DeMille's command of the genre and salute him as an extraordinary talent.

Summary: one of the most enjoyable books I've ever read
Review: Demille's latest work brings back John Corey from his previous work, PLUM ISLAND. I've read many thriller and mystery novels and this is the best read I have come upon in several years. Demille has written good works in the past, but this is the best he's done yet. It is action packed, suspenseful, and funny at the same time. An excellent book. I read it in two days (and its 675 pages).
