Summary: Lost steam by page five hundred.
Review: Two thirds of the way through I was tired of all the wise cracking and hoping the plot would pick up. It didn't. Lousey ending, too many 'X-files' references and did DeMille have to take a shot at every critic who did not like the 'General's Daughter'. The movie did stink Nelson!

Summary: Long live John Corey.
Review: Another Demille masterpiece. John Corey keeps me awake with laughter. If your listening, Nelson LONG LIVE COREY. I await his return with anticipation. The real question is, who would play him in the movie? (Deniro?, Willis?,)

Summary: Enough wise-cracking cops
Review: I was put off by the typo on page 36 "teaming cauldron" but was well into the plot by that time and continued on. DeMille is a brilliant writer but has apparently decided cash in on popular culture and write about a wise-cracking cop, a genre that has already been overdone by Robert Parker and others. The story line definitely fell apart at the end. His earlier books were much better - Charm School, The Gold Coast.

Summary: Hated the ending
Review: This is one of Demille`s worst novels. I was very, very disappointed with the ending and also hated Kate Mayfield......will give him another chance but think he is getting a little full of himself.

Summary: Demille's best effort in a while
Review: A great read, though as in Plum Island John Corey's wisecracking becomes a bit tedious. I enjoyed this much more than I did Spencerville or Plum Island

Summary: This Lion roars!
Review: Ever since reading Plum Island, I have been eagerly awaiting a sequel. And now that it has come, I am not disapointed. Demile is a fantastic writer and the Lions Game is a great example of his skill at creating absorbing plots, interesting characters, and fast, exciting pace. I also love his ability to incorporate humor into his books. John Corey is hilarious at times. The wit and satire in the book is great. At 600+ pages though, the book is somewhat bloated and it could have been cut down quite a bit without sacrificing anything important. Nonetheless, as far as thrillers go, this one definitely qualifies in the "page turner category". Highly recommended.

One final thing worth mentioning is that with the end seemingly setting up a sequel, I was disapointed to learn that Demille has no intention of bringing John Corey back again. However on the positive side his next book will bring back Paul Brenner from the Generals Daughter, so that is something to look forward to.

Summary: Can't put this one down!
Review: DeMille writes a good book. Fast-paced, easy reading. This book is huge but I don't want to stop reading. It reads visually (i.e., I can see this as a movie - though Hollywood would no doubt screw it up!). John Corey's sense of humor keeps things from becoming dull. Asad Kalil's single-minded vision is often bone-chilling. It isn't "Gold Coast" (DeMille's best) but it is well done.

Summary: Page turner
Review: I looked at the size of this book when I bought it and thought I would be reading it for weeks. However, I finished it in less than a week and didn't want to put it down. I didn't think John's relationship with Kate was completely out of character. Sometimes love just "hits" you and that's it. Also, I didn't think the ending was weak, as others have said. It does "smell" like a sequel, though. I'm looking forward to his next novel.

Summary: Lion's Game
Review: Classic DeMille. Loved it! John Corey from Plum Island strikes again. The plot was plausible and exciting, and moved quickly. I did not like the "romantic involvement" - I felt it was unrealistic. He would have kept my attention without it. The twists were also plausible, some expected, some not. I like the cleverness, the wise crack remarks by the hero, not to mention DeMille's reference to the movie "The General's Daughter" and the numerous references to the X-Files. When I read a novel, I hope to learn something and in this case, learned some tid-bits about Mid-Eastern culture, but the racial slurs were numerous. The main character is amusing and caused some "laugh-out-loud" moments.

Summary: Forget Grisham!
Review: Nelson DeMille writes the best thrillers. Characters are great. John Corey is Spenser, Elvis Cole, and more. I don't understand why people like John Grisham's books so much when DeMille writes circles around him. I haven't wanted to go to work all week as I was enjoying this book so much.
