Rating: Summary: Unbelieveably hard to put down Review: Don't let the daunting 650+ pages scare you away. This book keeps you intrigued from the beginning. If you've read Demille before, you may be familiar with John Corey (Plum Island). His cynical behavior as part of the anti-terrorist task force is TOO FUNNY!! I too found myself reading parts out loud to friends. The character is so strong--I hope Demille can find a way to use him again!! BUY THIS BOOK! You will not be disappointed. Also, check out Charm School--another great one by Demille. (Boris went there...read Lion to find out about him!)
Rating: Summary: Fabulous Story, Disappointing Ending Review: DeMille, once again, is at his storytelling best. His subtle characterizations continue to shine, especially with our hero, John Corey, the same from 'Plum Island'. What disappoints is the contrived ending of the book which is right up the alley of Folsom's "Hitler's Frozen Head" ending in 'The Day After Tomorrow'. DeMille proceeds to leave us with an open-ending, no doubt to bring us "The Lion's Next Game" and another John Corey vehicle.
Rating: Summary: Excellent. A fast and enjoyable story from the first page Review: Even if the book is thick it is too interesting. I was eager to continue reading it until the end.
Rating: Summary: Dissapointed and Unsatisfied Review: The book had a beginning a middle and no end.I felt like I had read the very long introduction to the ending to be found in a future book (which I will not read). Unless Demille's message is that terrorists are smarter than the combined world law enforcement agencies, the NYPD is the smartest of that group, and the world is at the "mercy" of terrorists the book should have had a reasonable ending.
Rating: Summary: I would have given it five stars if it had a real ending. Review: I confess that I am a bit in love with John Corey. He is so funny, so smart and so sexy. I laughed out loud several times, which can be embarrasing because I do most of my reading on a commuter train. This book is at times terrifying and gorey and other times absolutely hilarious. (John Corey's ability to come up with about ten different insulting names for one of Kate's former boyfriends was priceless.) Nelson DeMille is wonderful. I just wish the ending had not been so up in the air. It is clear there will be a sequel, which is great, but I still feel some loose ends could have been tied up.
Rating: Summary: A New Demille Fan Review: "The Lion's Game" was the first of Demille's books for me. Now that I've enjoyed this realistic and entertaining novel, I plan on reading the rest of his works.
Rating: Summary: Silly at times, and a terrible ending! Review: The Lions Game was mostly not a bad read. Many things were beyond belief/silly, and there were an enormous number of "stupid" people in it, but, I still read on.....and for that, I am sorry! The ending was simply terrible. Ok, maybe he wants to write a sequel, but give us a break: We're reading it NOW, and would like it to have SOME ending! I can't possibly recommend this book to anyone. It will just frustrate you!
Rating: Summary: A Real Page Turner! Review: I have read most of Nelson Demille's books and I have enjoyed all of them immensely. The Lion's Game is no exception...it is a definite winner. I loved meeting up again with John Corey and some of his cronies. His sense of humor is incredible and I found myself laughing out loud.
Rating: Summary: Demille stands above all mystery writers! Review: This book is classic Nelson Demille. His carry over of Detective Corey from Plum Island is magnificient. He is the very best at combining danger, mystery, with just the right amount of humor spread about. Demille is by far the best mystery writer we have today.. He puts Grisham, and Clancy to shame.
Rating: Summary: Read it! Review: A perfect combination of wit and suspense!
