Summary: I Would've Given it 5 Stars...........
Review: Intense, fast paced, and yet with a sense of humor, is the best way todescribe this latest effort by Nelson De Mille. For those who likedJohn Corey, the sarcastic, yet able-minded hero of "PlumIsland", you'll be glad to know he is back in this quick movingthriller....

Some may not like the viewpoints alternating betweenfirst-person and third-person in every other chapter, but I think ithelps move the story along as it puts you in the Lion's frame of mind.Forget Grisham, Clancy and those guys for DeMille is at the top of hisgame in this one.

So, why not 5 stars? Well, the FBI and CIAcharacters appeared a little too stereo-typical for my tastes. Theyall shouldn't be like Scully and Mulder, but they all shouldn't bestuff shirts either. ... And, lastly, the ending, or lack thereof, begs for a sequel. Still these are minor comments. To close on apositive note, I can only hope that DeMille is working on that sequelas I type this, for this was his best effort so far. Enjoy.

Summary: It was good but not great
Review: I liked the book. I thought it was very cleaver how he metioned 4 of his other books. I did not like the end of the book. There was not ending it left it all up in the air.

Summary: John Corey makes a triumphant return!
Review: A fan of Nelson DeMille books, I was delighted to find that he had wrote another mystery with John Corey in it. And it was just as good as the first. I was kind of dispointed that he had not ended up with Beth Penrose, his love affair from Plum Island, but his new girl is almost as good. Ted Nash and George Foster also return and you will once again laugh out loud at John's antics against Ted Nash. Do not miss this book.

Summary: a great thriller
Review: I loved this wonderful. exciting, believable story. The twists and turns were unexpected and thrilling. The ending was superb. I could never have predicted it. This was better than Plumb Island, which I thought was excellent.

Summary: Johnny we hardly knew ye.
Review: What the hell happened? The witty and charismatic hero of Plum Island has turned into a misogynist bore. As a long time Demille fan [I count Plum Island, General's Daughter, and The Charm School as must reads in this genre] I am afraid he has missed the mark here. This is a long, boring ride to nowhere. The villain was particularly tiresome in this book [though I'll have to try the soda bottle silencer trick] and the sequel portending end was disappointing. I hope this was just a speedbump for Demille and the follow up will be stronger. I would hate to see him go the way of Clancy, Ludlum or Grisham.

Summary: Loved The Book
Review: Loved this book and once I started, could not stop. However, I did get tired of DeMille's sentences beginning with Anyway,. Got to the point where I started watching for the "Anyway." While reading, I kept thinking of different ways the sentences could be started.

Other than that, the book is very good and I love the main character, John Corey, thought he was very funny. I'm almost finished and I hope that when they get the bad guy, they get him good.

Hope Mr. DeMille writes more with John Corey as the main character.

Summary: Highly entertaining.
Review: A thoroughly entertaining book about a Lybian terrorist, Asad (The Lion), and his project to kill the military pilots who participated in the bombing of Lybia in 1986 (flying F111's). John Corey (ex-NYPD) and Kate Mayfield (FBI) are the principal characters who are trying to catch up with Asad. The story is told in the first person by John Corey whose wit and cynicism will be enjoyed, I believe, by most readers. From beginning to end the book holds the reader's interest. The characters are fully developed. The book has obviously been well researched with respect to terrorism, Lybia, the military, FBI, CIA, NYPD, and other areas that are important to the story. This is one of the most authentic and cleverly crafted novels I have read.

Summary: Disappointing performance - not worth the effort
Review: I bought this book to have something special for my vacation. I was sadly disappointed to find out that it didn't live up my expectations. The beginning is very gripping (especially if you happen to be on an aeroplane experiencing turbulence as I was at the time) but all to soon it just gets plain dull and tedious as the never ending hunt for the terrorist begins. Also, the ending is sad and uneventful. Save your money or buy a Harry Bosch novel instead.

Summary: Where is the ending???
Review: I like the characters, the banter, the plot and the structure of the novel, but I would never have guessed that it did not have an ending. There were numerous "plugs" for his previous books, "Plum Island" and the "Charm School", which is forgivable because the reader (me) was having a good time. However, if this 600+ page book was only a set up for a future book, I will be sure not to read it. Why would Nelson be dishonest with his readers??

Summary: BEAUTIFUL WRITING, HORRIBLE ENDING...
Review: I think few popular novelists have the skill of Nelson Demille to write a book with such sharp, crackling prose. The writing style simply carried me along like a branch of driftwood in a rushing river. That being said, if you really want to enjoy this novel, don't read the last ten to fifteen pages, just make up the ending on your own, or you'll be riding for a really big let down. I can only hope we're being set up for a sequel or I'm going to be really disappointed.
