Summary: It KICKS ASS!
Review: I think both the first JP book and this are on par with therelic and its sequel RELIQUARY, but this book kicks butt! It ISbetter than the film, the characters actually develop quite well, and there is action intriuge, mystery, suspense, and a little Chriton's famous sense of humor! Great Job! Now we just need a third book...hehehehehe

Summary: Better than the movie!
Review: The Lost World was an excellent book overall. Not as good as Sphere, or even it's predecesser, Jurassic Park, but one of Crichton's better books. Even though it took a while for the suspense to begin, once it started, it never stopped. And, the book was definitely better than the mediocre movie. The movie could have benefitted from sticking to the book more. Overall, a good book that I would recommend to anyone

Summary: The Lost World
Review: Well, I thouroughly enjoyed this novel. You can give the moviea miss though, unless you're a Goldblum fan like myself. I liked howLevine and Dodgson were tied into the story so cleverly. The kids - Arby and Kelly - I could've done wothout them. I did enjoy learning the different names of the new dinosaurs. Crichton has done it again!

Summary: The Lost Petting Zoo
Review: Save your money and skip both the book and the movie. If youmust, see the shoddy movie, but avoid thisfluff-pretending-to-be-a-book. This only gets a "4" because it's better (and shorter) than "Ender's Game" and "The Diamond Age". Notice how inarticulate the reviews are from those who gave it a "9" or "10"? That should tell you something.

Summary: Why is everyone complaining, it was a very good book....
Review: I have a theory about what is going on here. People assumethat because Lost World is a sequel to a popular book that it was madejust for the sake of the movie. This manifests itself in fears that the book will be a junior book or will have a 'Hollywood Plot.' But the movie 'Lost World' and the book were totaly different. If the book was made just to be another load of Hollywood trash then wouldn't the movie and the book have been similar? The only similarities between the book and the movie are the title and Ian Malcom. So, read the book with this in mind: it was so creative, witty, and well written that it couldn't possibly make a good movie, so a totally different 'Speilbergized' movie script was needed. Understand? Good. Now go read this book or if you have already read it, read it again in a new light. What are you waiting for?

Summary: This story does well for the Crichton name.
Review: I read this book before the movie and it was engrossing untilit's end. I enjoyed most Mr.C's active and imaginative sceen inwitch the Parent Rex's come to the research trailers looking for junior. The Character's are beleiveable and captivating. DO NOT MISS THIS BOOK!!

Summary: Enjoyable reading
Review: The story continues after Jurassic Park and was wellwritten. However, there is no discussion as to how the dinos arrivedat this island. Was it the shaving can? The T-rex's were wonderful in this novel. I believe there should be another novel about the result of the shaving can. Did it wash out to sea or is it waiting to get you? Another excellant novel to be written.

Summary: Ian Malcolm is dead
Review: This book is causing a big argument between my husband and me. He loved the book, and recommended it to me. Having read JURASSIC PARK, I was really excited to read THE LOST WORLD. But in all honesty, I could not read it. I only read the first 25 pages or so. Why? To be an effective story, a novel has to let me suspend my disbelief, and tell me a believable, if fantastic, story. THE LOST WORLD failed to do that. Because Ian Malcolm died in the middle of JURASSIC PARK. A body was not recovered, but I went back and read where he was thrown into the bushes by a T-Rex, and was never heard from again. Then they nuked the island, not taking Malcolm with them. How did he survive? I felt that Crighton confused his book with the movie of it. And was in fact writing a sequel to the movie. I went to see the movie sequel, and it was fine. Because Malcolm lived at the end of the first movie. But I can't get through the book. I don't care how good it may be, I simply cannot get past that most basic of continuity errors.

Summary: Avoid if you have read Jurrasic Park or can go to the cinema
Review: This book is a complete rehash of Crichton's former dino-book, Jurassic Park. As in that book, we have here the (very) same ingridients: A reculse Doctor, A female Doctor, 2 adorable, smart kids, some people looking into making money, oh and let's not forget, an island full of rampaging Dinos. The end of the book can be seen clearly from it's first page. And while in his former book Crichton at least gave us food for thougt (Chaos theory, Environment etc...) you wont find them here. This book clearly suffers from Sequelittis. Avoid if possible. If you want Dino action - see the movie
