Summary: A hell of a lot better than the movie
Review: This book gives you the real facts of the dinosaurs that ruled the world millions of years ago, unlike the movie, which was way out of line. It was like in the movie that the moviemakers just made up new dinosaurs because the fact is, the movie's ALL WRONG. For example, compys, those little dinos, are scavengers. SCAVENGERS. Definition of scavenger: animal that eats the dead or dying. In the movie, the compys ate perfectly alive people. The people were not at all dead. At least Michael Crichton knew what he was talking about, unlike the moviemakers who tried to make it as awesome as they could. It wasn't awesome. It SUCKED. Crichton's all right, the moviemakers are all WRONG. I really liked the book, I couldn't find anything wrong with it, except for the fact that sometimes he goes on and on and on about one small subject. All in all, I enjoyed the book

Summary: I'm Lost!!!
Review: A very disappinting sequel after the spectacular Jurassic Park. The action is predictable. There are no major surprises. Most of this over 400-page book is filled with the ridiculous and confusing theories of Dr. Malcolm, ad nauseum. Other than that, there are the ubiquitous appearances of the raptors, three times might still be exciting, but thirty times is just plain bit annoying. A pot-boiler if there ever is one

Summary: One of the finest books I have read
Review: The lost world is truly a fine piece of literature I rarely come across a book that can entertain yet educate in a well defined and intresting plot.It is true that the sudden reanimation of Ian Malcom was a little unexpected, but it's still a book. If a little default like that is enough to send a person, whether it be man or woman, into a mad obnoxious fit of how foolish and absurb the book is, that shows me a total lack of imagination and respect for the hard efforts of a fine author. I am a big fan of Michael Crihton, he is a fine author, and If you find the book so distasteful over a little twist like Ian Malcom, I think you really are too short sighted to understand even what Michael is trying to teach his readers. If this is the case, go find another nice short novel with small easy to process words. Thank you.

Summary: DAN BECKER reviews one of the best sequels ever written!
Review: Very rarely (at least at my opinion) does a sequel out-preform an origional story, but it happened with Micheal Chrichton's "The Lost World" the more than well-done sequel to the best-seller (and box-office smash) "Jurassic Park" published back in the early '90s. Micheal Crichton's writing style of real sciencey science-fiction really shows in this novel in a much more easy to understand format than the origional story, many interesting facts and theories, along with many scientific issues are discussed throughout the book in a way that even very yong reader would easily understand. The character introductions are very well-done but not over-done as I thought they were in the first novel. Along with the action which I think is much more fast-paced and gripping than what was origionally written. I highly recomend this book to even those who didn't like the first novel and cirtainly to even those who didn't like the "Lost World" movie, let alone it being totally perverted from the book, the story completely ran off track near the ending and I felt that it really discredited the novel's reputation by deturring many potential readers who didn't like the movie

Summary: The Lost World is the greatest taking journey you can take.
Review: When I started the book, I thought maybe I should return it, but I read on. When as I got to Chapter 2, I was squeezing time in to my schedules, so I could finish this book. As soon as I finished, my mind started saying " There is more, there has to be more, we can't quit now." So I read read the book again... and again. In all, I read that book three times. This book was serious, intriguing, and it had a lot of suspense. If you like any of Michael Crichton's novels... then I recomend that you read The Lost World by Michael Crichton

Summary: Wonderful Book, "hack & slash" movie
Review: Actually I really liked this book. I'm not quite sure whyeverybody going so hard on it. It basically is very similar toJurrasic Park but in many ways it is an improvment even. (Believe it or not, the theories are even better!). The only possible bad thing you can say about the about it is that Malcolm grew a bit softer and less willing to yell at everyone who disagrees with him but he was still the same old Malcolm (cynical and full of weird ideas). It's a real pitty Spielburg made a "Rambo" movie out of it. If you liked the book, DON'T watch the movie. It'll spoil everything!

Summary: A Brilliant book!
Review: I really enjoyed this novel, although it is quite similar tothe original and sometimes it is a bit predictable but otherwise it issuperb! I especially loved the bits where Crichton gives us his views and theories on extinction and evolution. And though it was a bit convenient that there was another island inhabited by dinosaurs, it was a perfectly logical explanation of why this was necessary. Being a science fan as i am, I thought it was a great book.

Summary: Disappointment
Review: The action is so predictable that you can guess the end after afew chapters. The story isn't even interesting, even though the bookis well written. The worst is certainly the end, I felt cheated with such a cheap conclusion: Dinosaurs dying from the mad cow disease ! Mr. Crichton takes us for children ! A real disappointment, compared to the Jurassic Park.

Summary: ITS SUCKS.. until you see the movie that is....
Review: I was going to give this book a 3.. then a saw the movie and reviewed the book again.. the movie was so laughable (wannebe kin kong ending) that is made the book good.. however the book did start off good, but the middle 200 pages dropped off to pure boredom... but the ending was very intense. although somewhat predictabel.. I wish he didn't have kids in this book.. oh and Malcolm is NOT NEARLY as fuuny as he was in the first book.. I thik he wrote this book because they were going to make the movie with or without him... overall, the original was much better.. this was MAYBE above acerage.

Summary: What a disapointment
Review: Obviously, this book was written for money or a follow-upscreenplay of Jurassic Park. It's well written however, butMr. Crichton takes us for children: his theories are not realistic and the worst is that incredible ridiculous end. I adored Jurassic Park, but felt cheated when reading this book. Had the impression someone else than Crichton was the author!!
