Rating: Summary: Book is a page turner! Review: I began reading this book with high expectations in part because i have read most of Crichtons previous books and i was 100% satisfied. The book had me turning the pages as fast as i could read. Crichton really brings to life the idea that we could one day have dinosaurs living on earth again. Crichton bring about a good point in this novel and that is that most good things have a dark-side. For Jurassic Park it is the Lost World and ohh....how dark it is. I highly reccomend the book, but the movie is nothing like the book. I had read the book before the release of the movie and i was dissappointed when i had to try my mind just to make connections in the plot of the movie to the book. READ THE BOOK, THEN THE MOVIE, BUT PRETEND THEY ARE DIFFERENT STORIES.
Rating: Summary: !!!I'VE READ IT FIVE TIMES!!! Review: What can I say it was the best book I've ever read. Michael Crichton is by far the most creative, knowledged and interesting writer... ever (well at least in my opinion). He really knows how to keep someone up all night not wanting to put the book down, "The lost world" is absolutly no exception. I reccomend that anyone not in coma should read this book and those in comas should read it asap when they wake up.
Rating: Summary: It was a VERY good book. Some cliches though. Review: I loved Jurassic Park and I think this is a great book too. But there were a few confusing elements. For example: Malcome died of a serious leg injury and yet he still seemed to make it to the sequel. Unless Grant learned to ressurect the dead, I don't think it made sense. Other than that, this book is a very well written book. Although, the main character ( Malcome ) has gone through some personality changes ( he is now alot more serious in this book than in the first and he has sort of a short fuse). All in all, it's a very good book. I reccomend it to mostly everyone.
Rating: Summary: Terrific !! Review: This is one of the best books I ever read. It really takes you over. I got hooked since the very beginning and I just couldn't put it down ! What a shame about the movie.
Rating: Summary: Great Sequel To A Great Book!! Review: Lost World was a wonderful book. It was action packed and exciting. I could not put it down, a real page turner. A must read for any Crichton fan!
Rating: Summary: Good book, but the idea was worn out after Jurassic Park (1) Review: I thought that the Lost World was a great book, but not as good as Jurassic Park. The idea was also somewhat unoriginal after the first book. The Lost World also had a weak ending in my opinion.
Rating: Summary: An Excellent Sequel To Jurassic Park. Review: This book is a fast paced thriller that I found difficult to put down. Every time I thought this book was about to slow down another thing was thrown into it to keep me enthralled. I found it lacking something that its predecessor had though.
Rating: Summary: The Lost World Review: Michael Crichton returns to the world of Jurrassic Park, where supposedly all of the dinosaurs created by John Hammonds genetics company InGen were destroyed. But when mysterious carcasses start showing up on the Costa Rican shore, a man named Richard Levine believes the story of InGen's experiments, which the original charachters deny. Levine and some other scientists attempt to find a supposed second island.
Rating: Summary: Death by Dino II : ( A waste of time) Review: I generally enjoy Crichton's books. But Lost World is a loser. Jurassic Park was innovative and had enough of a detective story to make it a worth while read. However, Lost World is full of cliches and ridiculous character behavior. I threw the book away when I read the scene where the daughter sneaks on the truck. I hope his next book is better.
Rating: Summary: Fascinating...a must read! Review: Being one of the people who does things backwards, I tend to see a screen adaptation of a novel before actually reading the print. If I hadn't read previous Crichton novels before (Andromeda Strain, Jurassic Park, Sphere, and Congo), and I had to base the book solely on the movie, I would have been terribly disappointed. I found the movie so horrible that I walked out halfway through. However, since I'd already read previous works by Crichton, I had to read the novel. Frankly, I was blown away. Not only does the author present his stories in a scientifically feasible manner, he does it with such energy and vitality, breathing real life into his characters, that I am completely engrossed in his stories. The Lost World has taken my childhood fascination with dinosaurs and blown it into gigantic proportions. I highly recommend this book, as well as its predecessor, to anyone, whether they like dinosaurs or not. It's a tremendous sci-fi thriller that I think should be a classic.
