Rating: Summary: Lost World Review: The Lost World was a great novel that no other Chrichton fan should be without.
Rating: Summary: An insult to readers. Review: Whoever liked the first novel, will wonder what was going on in Mr. Chrichtons mind when he wrote this novel. This is a sequel to the movie and not to the book. How some characters are brought back from the dead is, indeed, insulting to readers. Next time Mr. Chrichton should worry more about his readers than about how much money he can make from the movie. This book is what Home Alone 2 was to home Alone 1, a pale copy that would attract the people who loved the first and wouldn't think they would be taken for idiots.
Rating: Summary: A Great Sequel Review: This book was just as exciting as the original but yet there was enough original material in the book so you wouldn't get bored reading it. The Lost World had a great balance of suspense, action and unpredictability. This is even a good book (I have been told) if you didn't read Jurassic Park. This is a must read for any Michael Crichton Fan.
Rating: Summary: this book is a great thriller that most any body could read Review: The Lost World Is one the best books I have ever read. I don't want to give the storie away to anybody looking forward to reading it, but I will give you the plot. Richard Levine is a paleontologist that is way too into his job. Levine hears about Jurrasic Park a few years before the book takes place. Then he got strange readings of amaterial only foundwhere dinosaurs used tolive, the readings were very strong compared to any others he had ever gotten. Levine organizes a small scout troop to go check out the site. Sorry but that is all I will give away.
Rating: Summary: Not One of the best Review: This book is definatly not one of the best I have ever read. It was somewhat dry and didn't get straight to the point. I would recommend reading Jurassic Park before this one.
Rating: Summary: I am in some ways dissapointed with this novel. Review: The reason I am entering this review is because I am in some ways dissapointed with the "carelessness" of Crichton's work. Like most people (I hope), I read Jurassic Park first and like most people I would agree that it is a very well written book, yet at the end of Jurassic Park two of the main characters died. These characters are Ian Malcolm and John Hammond. And I quote: "They did not even permit the burial of Hammond or Ian Malcolm." End Quote. (This quote can be found on page 398 of Michael Crichton's book, Jurassic Park) When I went to read the Lost World I found that these two characters magically reappeared. The Lost World even claims that Ian Malcolm had been in a hospital in Costa Rica and that he had been mumbling nonsence along with several different kinds of dinosaurs but everybody took it as if he were delirious. John Hammond also was as well as can be in the Lost World. I conclude this review by saying that Michael Crichton should have been more careful when preparing the Lost World.
Rating: Summary: A heart-pounding, fast page flipper, dino adventure!! Review: This is the best book I have ever read in my life. It was so much fun, I even got a detention in school for not stopping and listening to the teacher. It was so much better than the movie. But personally, I think the movie stunk. I knew this was going to be better as soon as the reached the park. In a little bit I am going to read it again!!!! Also th book 'Jurassic Park' was really good. Pure entertainment is what Crichton has enhanced to the world!!
Rating: Summary: Well written, but slow. Review: I liked the book for two reasons, one, it was well written, and two, the main characters were very well established. I did not like the book because some of the characters that played important roles in the plot were not well established, and there were several pages of code that went simply over my head. I would recomend the book to a person with great patience and does not mind gore. I would also recomend to read this book after seeing the movie!
Rating: Summary: Unimaginative reprise of the first book Review: There's so much Crigton could have done, raptors escaping to main land, world reaction, etc ... All he could come up with his sequel is very similar scenario constrained again within an island and complete with new kids. No new science is revealed and it feels like a quick work meant primarily for the big screen. It's interesting that Spielberg rejected most of the scenes or invented his own in his Lost World film. It is still a Crighton very easy read but I felt that I wasted my time afterward. Get the first book instead.
Rating: Summary: I believe that the book the "Lost World" is a trilling book! Review: The widely known author Michael Crichton wrote two epic books about dinosaurs. The first book called " Jurassic Park " is about a secret theme park hidden on a ramote island in the Gulf of Mexico. A man named John Hammond inhabited this island with genetically made prehistoric creatures, but some thing went wrong and the dinosaurs attacked the few people one the island. After everyone finally escaped from the island, they had to shut down the parkbefore it really got started. Then Michael Crichton created a sequel even better than the first. This book was known as the " Lost World Jurassic Park." In this book John Hammond happened to have had a reserved island set for the newly borndinosaurs, they were carfully monitered by a secret team working for Mr. Hammond. This team watched over these dinosaurs making sure a deadly disease wouldn't affect the cities near by, but it did. Since they kept it under raps a team of scientists picked by Mr. Hammond were chosen to go to this secret island wit him and see how the dinosaurs stayed alive for all of those years. Another team came in to scavenge for the remaining dinosaurs and take them to San Diego and put them in another them park type zoo, but something went wrong again just like the first and the people on the island have to fight to escsape. I give this each of these books a four out of five stars cause it kept me on the edge of my seat. I believe that these books are exciting books and are major suspense and thriller tpye books and thats why i gave this book five stars.
