Summary: Worth it if you've got some time
Review: This book was pretty good, but what a let down in the end. Go for it if you've got some time, but if you want to read just the top books out there, this isn't the one

Summary: A well written, but compex novel
Review: The Terminal Man, by Michael Crichton, was overall a good book. It gives you and inside look at hospital life. It basically takes place in the NPS (the section of the hospital where brain surgery is researched on and performed) where Dr. Morris and Dr. Ellis are preparing for the biggest operation in their careers. The operation is to be performed on a man named Benson. Some years back, he was in a car accident, and has suffered seizures and strange symptoms ever since then. The purpose of this operation is not cure his seizures but prevent them. This is possible by the implantation of electrodes in the brain. The doctors in this book show a lot of competition between eachother. The operation is raising a lot of excitement in the hospital, and all the whole staff is curious about what it is and what will happen. A woman doctor named Janet Ross, has become friends with Benson, and is trying to stop this operation. She believes that this will never work, and the results could make this man pshycotic. This whole thing is exciting to read. Yet amongst the excitement, there is a lot of "technical talk" which only brain surgeons would understand. This makes the book seem more believable, but it doesn't make it any more exciting. I would say if you are interested in any complex science, anatomy, computers, or anything having to do with something such as this, it is a good book to read. It's almost like you are there at times, in the hospital, waiting to see what will happen next. I gave the book three stars because of all the talk which I didn't understand. But again, if you are interested in that field, read it.

Review: When I began this book, I couldn't put it down! I finished it in one night! I HAD too, when I stopped reading I experienced withdrawl symptoms.Hehe..I am like that with ALL of Crichton's books though....another great work from the master.

Summary: Not his best
Review: I am a huge fan of Crichton, but I felt that this one wasn't his best book. It had a great storyline, and was well written, but I felt it was a little boring, slow, and the ending was terrible. I'll give it only three stars instead of one because I do like Crichton.

Summary: Good book for a stormy day
Review: Michael Crichton prevails again when he writes The Terminal Man. Writing another book about the human condition, this book does not live up to its successors like Jurassic Park, Sphere, and The Andromeda Strain. Although it's still a very good book, it's not his best work. This book tells the story of a man who suffers from a severe case of psychomotor epilepsy. Psychomotor epilepsy is characterized by uncontrollable seizures from time to time at which time the sufferer goes into violent fits. During his seizures, Harold Benson has injured countless people. He cannot be convicted of murder or assault because of his inability to control his condition. At the beginning of the book, Harry has been arrested for attacking someone during his seizure. The police department is sending him to the area's Neuropsychiatric Research Unit located in the city limits. It is there that Harry may be given a new chance at life with a "Stage-3 Procedure". This is a simple type of brain surgery where 40 electrodes are implanted into the brain and a small microchip is placed at the base of the neck. The device, if successful, should be able to detect a seizure in its earliest stage, emit a tiny electric charge in the brain, and stop the seizure before it starts. Doctors McPherson, Morris, and Ellis and Psychiatrist Janet Ross are assigned to Harry's case and recovery. All of the doctors have mixed feelings about Harry's condition before and after the surgery. Dr. Ellis strongly believes it will help him; Doctor Ross is highly against it. Everything goes according to plan until Harry learns how to manipulate the device and trigger it on his own. This book is well written and is quite a page-turner. However, the ending is very disappointing. After reading a good book, you don't want to read a bad ending. This should not keep you from reading the book. It's mildly suspenseful and the conflicts the characters are put through is enough to keep you reading. The Terminal Man is a good book for a stormy day.

Summary: Starts slow but picks up a lot of speed
Review: The first 75 pages or so didn't interest me a lot but when he escapes from the hospital the tension mounts and keeps the reader hooked and has a cliffhanger of an ending. To bad they made this into a movie because it SUCKED! Don't even bother with it but the book is worth a look.

Summary: Great Book-Obvious Ending
Review: I don't know why nobody else who wrote a review on The Terminal Man didn't like it. I thought it was one of Crichton's best. I thought Harry Benson was a very interesting character. Even though the end is very very obvious you can't help but think the things Harry Benson did was all because of the doctors. Sure he had a condidtion before, but they didn't have to perform the operation. It won't take you that longto finish. A solid read.

Summary: Terminal Disaster
Review: This book did not quite seem to grasp my attention at first, but as I read on it got a bit interesting then towards the end it got horrible. Anyone interested in neuroscience or anything there related should steer on to another book. Sorry, I expected something more 'captivating'. J.P

Summary: An OK book.
Review: Sphere was a book that I loved, so next a tried Chrichton's Terminal Man. This book is not nearly as good. The first half of this book is a tad dull, unless your into neuro-psycology or anything like this. But as you move on, it gets more exciting. This book, I would not suggest purchasing. I'd take it from a library.
