Summary: GREAT book. . .
Review: This is the first Rollins book I've read. Picked it up because of the cover. What was inside was even better. Great characters, cool chase scenes, rocking action. I've already ordered the author's other two books.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Rollins' Best Book Yet
Review: In this latest work by James Rollins, I see evidence of a new maturity in his writing. I enjoyed Subterranean and Excavation as a fun read, but the scientic details and research that are evident in this new novel puts it over the top for me. I truly enjoyed learning about ocean depths and past civilizations. It made me wonder about the past as never before. Keep up the great work, James Rollins! I remain a true fan!

Summary: What a Masterpiece!!!
Review: From the very first moment I opened this book, I knew it would surpass Rollins' previous works. "Deep Fathom" brought a new and more meaningful angle into the deeps of the ocean. Avoiding US sanctioned killers, discovering clues to a fallen civilization, and even saving the world from distruction, this book rivals the best in the adventure/science fiction genres. A definite must-read!

Summary: Deep Fathom
Review: With each book, James Rollins just gets better and better. The action is always superb but in this book he goes all out. In addition his characterizations are well fleshed and by the end of the book you don't want to leave their world. I'm sure with all of the stunning visuals this is going to be made into a movie some day! I want to buy tickets right now! If you have read any of his books, you are bound to love this one. If you haven't then you had better start now because you are missing one hell of a read!

Summary: Not his best, but still entertaining
Review: I liked the first two books better (Subterranean , and Excavation). I can't quite place my finger on it, but this book did not grab me and pull me in like the others. Maybe it is just that I now know what to expect from this author? Those of you who enjoyed the first two books will probably like this one also, and you can't beat the paperback price. nothing too serious but a fun enough beach read. One recomendation: "A Tourist in the Yucatan" a knock your socks off adventure-thriller.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Underground . . .now undersea
Review: First Mr. Rollins took us underground to the center of the Earth (in "Subterranean") then to the top of the Andean Mountains (in "Excavation"). Now he takes us deep into the Pacific ocean to a mystery surrounding the devastation of the West Coast of the US. A mix of Clancy-esque thriller and Indiana Jones adventure. Grab your beach blanket, a bottle of sunscreen, and a copy of this book . . . you won't be disappointed. And you'll never look at the ocean the same way again!

Summary: Excellent summer read! Don't miss it!
Review: Without giving anything away, this book likely has something for everyone who enjoys the action/adventure genre. Natural disasters, world chaos, a missing Air Force One and the president, ancient civilizations, romance, name it and you'll find it in this novel - even including a Canadian! This third novel by Rollins has more refined character development than his previous novels while at the same time, keeping the mystery and the adventure on an even keel. If you enjoyed his previous novels, you won't be disappointed with this one. In my opinion, Rollins easily ranks up there with the likes of Preston and Childs, DuBrul and other action/adventure writers. In fact, so far, he's demonstrating consistancy in his writing unlike some of the other writers who seem to lose momentum after their first success and is in fact in the process of surpassing some of the other household name action/adventure authors. Anxiously awaiting the next novel! Monsieur Rollins, you make reading a pleasure as always... ;-)

Summary: Slow Beginning, But Great Read
Review: As another reviewer noted, this is the least action packed of Rollin's books. The beginning was a little slow, by page 250 I was wondering when something exciting was going to happen. However, not long after, I was very satisfied.

Overall, this is a great book. His choice of locales was interesting, not many people are familiar with the Micronesian region, and I happen to have family living there which made the book even more special.

His characters, like usual, are interesting and have a good backstory. Rollins is an amazing author and he always makes things like archaeology and anthropology extremely interesting and exciting. If you like this try his other books, Excavation and Subterranean!

Summary: Another great adventure from Rollins
Review: This is another great adventure from James Rollins, who's the Jules Verne of our days. Full of action, it is a non-stop, chapter after a chapter adventure tale. Natural catastrophes occur one after another, bringing the world on a brink of destruction and nuclear threat. The secret lies at the deep bottom of the ocean, left by ancient civilization and if it isn't solved, world will cease to exist. Very well written.

Summary: Slow Beginning, But Great Read
Review: This is probably Rollins' most "accessible" book; granted, it's ending is preposterous and way out there, but in the realm of scifi/fantasy, it works. Although a little wordy, I found myself intrigued with the various plots and subplots. Jack Kirkland is an amiable, brooding hero; Karen Grace is a feisty, intelligent, if somewhat obsessive feminine hero; her friend, Miyuki, exudes some charm and intelligence; Gabriel, the computer, is a viable nonhuman member of the cast; and David Spangler, as the villainous rival of Kirkland's is despicable and meets an approprirately "delicious" end.
DEEP FATHOM pours it on and Rollins, while no rival of the incomparable Matt Reilly, does pack in more action scenes than usual. If you're looking for believable action, this is not your book, but if you're in the mood for some derring do, this one fits the bill!
