Rating: Summary: for the guy who thought it was too complicated... Review: This book is supposed to be complicated. Thats it's nature and you should have known that when you saw it was a Chrichton book. anyone who thinks the movie is better should have their head screwed on a little tighter. 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book Review: Great technical descriptions combined with Crichton's smooth writing style. To the pardna from Houston - Crichton never stated in the book that chaos was bad. He used chaos in the book to show what happens when we think we can control the uncontrollable - basically a commentary on Murphy's Law. Thinking that one could grow and control Dinosaurs was bad, not chaos!! The book was not anti-technology! It was anti-ego!!! Namely John Hammond's out of control ego, which lead him to the false belief that he could grow and maintain control over predatory animals extinct for several million years.
Rating: Summary: Lame-Brained Anti-Technology Babble Review: Weak! If you like non-stop action without any genuine stimulus to your think gland, this is your book! If you really actually want to ponder today's issues, and be forced to think new thoughts (as I do), then this ranks right up there with the words of wisdom you'll find on your local outhouse walls. ... It is irrationally anti-technology as well. I'll summarize the book for you, here, & save you the trouble of bothering to read it: "Slash-clash, grunt & howl, buckle my swash. Oh, yes: Lest we think it's all mindless, we've included something for you highbrow folks... Technology leads to Chaos, and Chaos is Badness".
Rating: Summary: A nonstop action, edge of your chair , a thriller! Review: I was 10 years old when I read the book. At fist I thought it would be boring. IT WASN'T!. I started reading it in class and was forced to put it down. Out of the three and a half I've read "JP" is the best!
Rating: Summary: This book is absolutely 'da bomb! Review: this book is absolutely spectacular! the poor morons who didn't like this book better go back to the dumpster that they came from!!!!!!!!!!!! besides the colorful characters in this book it also blends a stunning plot with scientific fact. 5stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Warning: This book is impossible to put down Review: This book is totally different than the movie but definately much better. The prolouge is pretty boring and kind of strange and unrelated to the novel but the rest of it is really good. The very beginning scene on the island(the same as the beginning of the Lost World movie) makes the reader want to keep on reading. In the middle, I could not but this book down and basically wanted to finish the other 200 pages that night. I highly recommended this book to any one. Anyone that reads this book definately should read the Lost World.
Rating: Summary: THE ULTIMATE BOOK Review: This was beyond all doubt my favourite book. I have read about 20 times, and I'm starting the 21st. This book may not have been completely accurate (Dilophosaurus was much larger in real life, and did not spit poison; Velociraptor was shorter in real life than in the book, etc.) but it was still an amazing book, and definitely worth reading.
Rating: Summary: The best book ever written. Review: This book could not get more interesting. I have read it 25 times and understand things better each time i read it.
Rating: Summary: An action-packed,edge of your reading chair thriller! Review: This is one of my absolute favorite books. It has suspense written all over it. I recomend it very highly to anyone who is up to Michael Crichton's writing. I think this book should come with popcorn and coke. The first chapter will suck you into the story like a tornado. Read it, and experience a story that will never be forgotten as one of the best suspense stories ever written!
Rating: Summary: It jumped around too much for me Review: O.K. maybe I didn't like it because my ninth grade teacher made me read it. I thought it was good, but not as good as the movie because it was totally different. Other than that it was O.K., but I would not read it again because it is too confusing with all the jumping around from spot to spot.
