Summary: WOW! A great Book!
Review: This book was my first Chrichton novel I have read. It was great. Although at times it was a greusome or vulgar it was still a great book! It makes you think what if... My favorite part about the whole book is that it isn't one of those extrealmy predictibe you know it will turn out all good at the end books. THis book left you hanging at the end of each chapter! I even stayed up till 12:30 one night just reading it! I saw the movie before I read the book. The Movie left so much out. If you thouhgt the movie was good then you will LOVE the book!

Summary: THE BEST HE WILL EVER WRITE
Review: Jurassic Park is Michael Crichton's masterpiece. He has made a book that make's the reader not want to stop reading it(which he has done more than once). The number one reason why I like it is the way he wrote it, not talking all the time, the closing gets even more face paced then the novel already is, and he provides you a lot detail with the fewest words possible, its a great read. It won't leave you in the dark when your finished with it like he did in Congo. I don't think he should of wrighten a sequel but I was satisfied with it after I read it so you will probably like it to.It's basically the same plot only with different action sequences. The thing he does best of course is his get down to the "blood and action" part, most authors spend a lot of time trying to make an underlying theme but he totally thoughs that out the window, he writes the book almost as if it actually happened. Its fast pace(doesn't slow the book down for anything except to explain some character backrounds) along with his dangerous dino's theme park theme(which sounds amazingly possible) make this book the best he will ever write.

Summary: Rereading it for the 153rd time...
Review: I bought this book when it first came out aabout a decade ago. Since then it has become my favorite book of all time. I have read it 152 times to date and am currently rereading it to get hyped up for JP3. If you liked the movie, you'll love the book. It's 100 times more detailed, 100 times more intense, and has so much more to offer than the movie. If for no other reason, read it to ssay you have. Join the rest of the world. Even my 80 year old gramma has read it LOL

Summary: Too bad the book didn't go the way of the dinosaurs
Review: I saw the movie first, and liked it quite a bit (wasn't really happy with the ending, which seemed too much like a "oops, we're out of time, let's hurry up and make an ending" bit). So I went out and got the book. It was a major struggle just to read completely to the end. Crichton continually flip flops on whether he wants to make the Raptors predators or scavengers, even having THEM get confused on which they are by having their "scavenging instict" take over in the middle of a "hunt". He has various other dinos doing things which they are physically incapable of (based on their skeletal structure) and several other signs of a SEVERE lack of real research. Even the writing style was rather poor, and don't even get me started on the big flashing "insert sequel here" neon sign at the ending.

The concept of the book was wonderfull, and it really could have been an incredibly exciting story. But Crichton just plain and simple blew it. Stick with the movie . . . even with its flaws, it is infinitely better than the novel (just stay away from the sequel!)

Summary: The Jurassic Park Movie is more like Jurassic Fart
Review: This Book was an extremely good read. I couldn't put it down! This descriptive, adrenaline pumping book is one of Crichtons best. It is totally diferent from the movie so don't think you've alread have the total experience. Who knows, maybe Nedry doesn't dies or Hammond is a dinosaur!

Summary: Good Book
Review: I read this book in 8th grade and I thought it was pretty good. It's the kind of book that makes you want to keep reading and reading untill bedtime. The book gives you so much background info and so much more action, and gruesome killings then in the movie which most people love as much as me. I loved the movie and the book, I feel that there both on the same line of rating. So don't feel that if you've seen the movie, reading the book would be pointless, the book has a different ending and many more people die. The book is worth the money, so if you don't already have it, pick it up.

Summary: There's a reason the movie made so much money...
Review: ...the book is even better! So much has been said about this novel already, it's hard to know where to begin. Ultimately, the key to it's success is Crichton's ability to get the reader to suspend their disbelief. Yes, it is extremely unlikely that we will ever be able to breed dinosaurs, but there is enough genuine science in "Jurassic Park" to make the reader ignore that fact.

Furthermore, inside that outer shell of realism, there is a superb novel. Aside from the fact that a "dinosaur zoo" is something almost anyone would want to see, the novel is extremely well written. The characters are deep and show real emotion, and the narrative is superb. Moreover, the plot isn't as mundane as one might expect; the use of chaos mathematics as the focal point for an island in crisis is both an original and effective plot device.

In the end, "Jurassic Park" is one of my favorite novels. Not because it changed my life, and not because it's great literature, but because it does what all good novels should do: create a world that I both believe could exist, and that I want to spend time in.

Enjoy!

Summary: A great work of fantasy
Review: Michael Crichton's book Jurassic Park was a truley great read. The imagery and character development were on par with some of his best stuff, The Andromeda Strain being a good example. The hero's and villians were easy to distinguish, the science explained in language that didn't "dumb it down" nor was it impossible for the lay person to understand. Fast paced and exciting, Jurassic Park should be on everyones "must read" list for Fantasy/Science Fiction.

Where I'm disappointed is the movie. Crichton authored the screenplay and Maria Scotch Marmo did the re-write. Didn't Crichton have any say as to what they could do to his work? There are so many important differences between the 2 works that it ends up almost being 2 different stories being told. If you saw the movie first perhaps it's not so bad, but if you read the book first, as I did, the movie is a real disappointment. This is just a continuation of a trend that really upsets me. Those of us that actually read are so often disappointed in film adaptations that many of us refuse to go to movies made from our favorite books.

Summary: Probably Crichton's Best
Review: This book, Jurassic Park, is one of Crichton's best books, if not the best of them all. Basicaly a simple story, man creates dinosaur and then loses control of dinosaur. Runs in the same vein as Frankenstein. Anyways, a really good book, the first time I read it, I finished it in a about a day and a half, I've read it four times since then, the story never gets old and is a thriller every time.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Crichton just keeps getting better.
Review: I know that Crichton can write great books and this is right up there with his best ones of all time. Great plotting! I could not put the book down! great ending! Mr Crichton is one of our greatest writers of our time. Do yourself a favor and get this one and read it! Great and very suspenseful!
