Rating: Summary: Excellent read Review: Thoroughly gripping. I had a hard time putting this book down just to sleep. I'd also recommend the Tenth Justice by Brad Meltzer which also deals with Supreme Court clerks
Rating: Summary: Another Great Read. Review: Like any of the other Baldacci novels. A great read, hard to put down
Rating: Summary: Enjoyed Review: I had enjoyed this novel especially after middle of the story although the plot is relatively simple and some characters are bit stereotyped. First 1/3 part is too slow for character building but easy reading. Again, I did enjoy reading this novel.
Rating: Summary: The Simple Truth Review: I had to force myself to finish this book. I was able to accomplish this because I did not want to waste my purchase cost. Very slow moving, hard to believe and even harder to care about what happened to the characters.
Rating: Summary: A GOOD BOOK Review: I enjoyed reading this book, and would suggest it to others looking for a good romantic novel . . .If you want to read a book that goes straight to your heart, read Stolen Moments by Barbara Jeanne Fisher. . .It is a beautiful story of unrequited love. . .for certain the love story of the nineties. I intended to give the book a quick read, but I got so caught up in the story that I couldn't put the book down. From the very beginning, I was fully caught up in the heart-wrenching account of Julie Hunter's battle with lupus and her growing love for Don Lipton. This love, in the face of Julie's impending death, makes for a story that covers the range of human emotions. The touches of humor are great, too, they add some nice contrast and lighten things a bit when emotions are running high. I've never read a book more deserving of being published. It has rare depth. Julie's story will remind your readers that life and love are precious and not to be taken for granted. It has had an impact on me, and for that I'm grateful. Stolen Moments is written with so much sensitivity that it made me want to cry. It is a spellbinder. What terrific writing. Barbara does have an exceptional gift! This book was edited by Lupus specialist Dr. Matt Morrow too, and has the latest information on that disease. ..A perfect gift for someone who started college late in life, fell in love too late in life, is living with any illness, or trying to understand a loved one who is. . .A gift to be cherished forever
Rating: Summary: A Real Disappointment Review: I threw this book across the room in disgust, leaving the last 40 or so pages unread. A stupid plot with totally unbelieveable characters, motives, dialogue, and situations. A real disappointment. Is the author becoming just another hack looking to make a fast buck by living off the success achieved with Absolute Power? This book doesn't deserve to be on the same shelf.
Rating: Summary: The Simple Truth Review: Loved the story. Fast paced, easy reading
Rating: Summary: Really good storyline and storyteller Review: I really liked this book. First I've read of this author but now am reading others of his. The only thing that I felt that couldn't make it 5 stars was that I didn't get totally wrapped up in the characters and plots to the exclusion of everything else in the world as I sometimes do with other similar authors like Patricia Cornwell. But, the story line was great and the characters were great - but could've drawn me in a little more. Would make an awesome action movie!
Rating: Summary: Chris LaVelle's Thoughts Review: The first 100 pages were a little too slow for my taste in character development. But after that I couldn't put the book down. A little mystery and some surprises in the end made this book well worth reading.
Rating: Summary: Good airplane (or laundromat) reading Review: With its combination of Supreme Court intrigue, a brother's death and romance, this book clips along quickly. The characters would pass a soap opera screening. Decorated former cop turned criminal defense attorney meets subtly sexy high court law clerk; hyperbole reigns. Minorities are secondary characters, invariably sincere at heart, battling the flavor of racism that thrived 40 years ago. The antagonists neatly fit the pattern of American storytelling for the last 30 years. If you want this to feel like a great read, finish it in a day and avoid rumination by immediately following up with another book (or movie, or talk show) of similar quality.
