Rating: Summary: Starts strong. Finishes with a sickening thud! Review: Okay, you know the plot by now and there's nothing I like better than a good ole' page-turner, but c'mon, this book is one big tease. It sets you up with a promising start and basically, unravels with a truck load of cliches that leave you wondering if it's too late to get your twenty bucks back from Amazon.
Rating: Summary: The very best! Review: Mr. Baldacci has the ability to keep you on the edge of you chair, bed or were ever you are reading this book. Plus it is as great as his other two.... no letting up on his writings.
Rating: Summary: Could not put the book down Review: The last half of this book was an absolute page turner. Had some difficulty with the first part but was more than rewarded by my persistence.
Rating: Summary: D.B. finally matured--This one is really good Review: I've read D.B.'s former three books but didn't consider his plots and scenarios quite as good as the over-rated praises and believed it's his publishers marketing strategies worked. This one, "The Simple Truth," has finally won me over and convinced me that D.B. is good, and might be even better than what Grisham could deliver, because this one really got some "feelings" in it and it touched me. Good writing, D.B., don't let the success blow you away and block your "feelings," cuz you're finally matured, and matured into a very good writer. God bless.
Rating: Summary: Lots of inside tid bits for Supreme Court enthusiasts! Review: This fictional story is fast paced and well organized. Some superb character development along with a good story line. If you are interested in the Sumpreme Court or are a legal genre buff this read is a must! The only disappointment were all the spelling and print errors, did anyone read the galley proofs?
Rating: Summary: What A Great Read!!!! Review: This book was great. Mr Baldacci has done it again. I've read all his books and this one along with "Total Control" are my favorites. I'd recommend this latest book and this author to anyone. "The Simple Truth" will keep you turning the pages, and you will be satisfied at the end.
Rating: Summary: This book will keep you up til you finish Review: I have read all of DB's books and this one I enjoyed the best. He takes us to a place not many know about. THE SUPREME COURT. He shows us how it works and keeps us in suspense til the very end. I must admit I thought I had all the characters figured out and I missed a couple of key characters. Overall, a very enjoyable quick read.
Rating: Summary: Simple Truth is not The Winner Review: The Simple Truth is an unbelievable, lifeless thriller involving a cast of forgettable characters centered around a United States Supreme Court setting. The plot is vanilla and the political soapbox ideology is excruciating. The Winner was a winner but this farce is a snoozer and a loser.
Rating: Summary: Another riviting page-turner Review: Don't ask how (okay, it involves groveling to a very close friend in the book business), but I received an advance copy of The Simple Truth. My favorite Baldacci book is The Winner...and I'll admit, it remains the winner...but The Simple Truth delivers all the punch you'd hope for. I'm a fan of Baldacci not only for his ability to spin a great tale and to create compelling characters, but also for his willingness to treat each book as a new journey. He has not yet fallen into the dull pattern most young authors do who reach his level of fame and commercial success. He takes us to new places -- this time the Supreme Court -- and for new rides. But this book still delivers the Baldacci I enjoy. Plenty of turns and twists, really bad bad guys, good guys you really care about. All and all, another great suspense thriller in the Baldacci tradition.
Rating: Summary: The simple truth is, this book will be NY Times #1! Review: As a prolific reader, I was rewarded with an advance copy of Baldacci's newest thriller, The Simple Truth. In order to create the perfect atmosphere, I hung a "Do Not Disturb" sign on my beach chair and spent a glorious day devouring this book. In my opinion, this novel should serve as a "how to" for authors who need help in connecting characters and multiple mini-plots. Also, The Simple Truth will appeal to action fans, courtroom junkies, and even Oprah devotees. It has been quite a while since I re-read sentences because I felt the message was profound. In summary, The Simple Truth will establish David Baldacci as the most versatile author of the '90's.
