Rating: Summary: I loved this book! Review: This was such a great story. It kept me up until all hours of the night. It was a real page turner. The characters were interesting and I really cared about what happened to them, especially Rufus. I have recommended all of David Baldacci's books to my friends. The Winner was passed around from family member to friend until I got it back nearly six months later! I'm definitely looking forward to more books from one of my favorite authors.
Rating: Summary: A SHOCKINGLY POOR BOOK FOR BALDACCI Review: I had to struggle to read this muddled plot with uninteresting characters. It kept switching back and forth from character to character until I lost complete interest after the third chapter and never finished the book. Thankgoodness it was a library book. I hope he does better the next time because he is usually a tremendous author.
Rating: Summary: Excellent reading, could not put it down! Review: David's book is captivating! He does NOT run on, but keeps you hopping. If you, like I, have gotten tired of that other authors' [whom David is compared to],run-on, boring contract books, read Baldacci! This book makes you believe that good and truth coupled with faith in God can triumph over evil! Keep it up Mr. Baldacci!
Rating: Summary: Just poor Review: I loved Absolute Power and I enjoyed Total Control, but this was a disapointment. When I read the inside flap, I expected a good story, espicaly with the US Supreme Court involved. However, I felt the author was never able to set the scene or give the characters any depth. This isn't the worst book I have read, but it is close because it is all so mindless. The storyline was OK if the author had just been able to give some depth to the characters it could have been better. Overall, the wrost book by the author I have read so far.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding Review: A lot of twists kept me on the edge of my chai
Rating: Summary: Murder mystery and Supreme Court eye opener Review: Baldacci's novel grabbed from the first pages. I just couldn't stop reading. He teases you with hints about who might of 'done it' and just when you are sure you know the answer Baldacci blind sides you with stronger clues directing your attention to another potential villain. The Supreme Court system, as presented, was an interesting view into an establishment I have never really understood.
Rating: Summary: Started slow - then could not put the book down. Great Read! Review: I have read all of David's books. This one is one of his best. A great story with lots of twists. I felt Baldacci did a great deal of homework to make this book so real. I can't wait for his next book Dark Lady.
Rating: Summary: Preposterous plot Review: Baldacci is slipping badly, after a very impressive start in the writing life. This book's plot is so thin and contrived that it was a chore for me to finish it. I hate to give a bad review, because I've enjoyed his other stories, but this one gets a thumbs down. Back to the basics, David. Above all else, you must have a plausible story!
Rating: Summary: A wonderful book of faith! Review: I felt a great deal of empathy for all the "good guys" and a great dislike for all the "bad guys". In general the book ran me through the gambit of emotions. I would definitely recommend it.
Rating: Summary: A non -addicitive cure for insomnia Review: I bought seven books for a recent two week holiday in the hills of Catalunya. I can't remember which review I read that recommended this book, but I presume that reviewer had taken some mind altering substance prior to reading the text because this is the worst book I have read in sometime. There is nothing in principle that is wrong with the storyline, but the text itself is formulaic drivel. There is alot more to writing than noun adjective verb adverb; though you wouldn't know it from this book. I groaned as I read the first page but thought that I should persevere; it got no better. I passed it around the table to see if it were just myself that didn't like it. Guffaws of laughter replaced the groans. Mr Baldacci is no Grisham or Le Carre Holds your attention for at least 2 minutes. Performed perfectly as a doorstop.
