Rating: Summary: SUPERB READING Review: THE SIMPLE TRUTH WAS REALLY SUPERB READING. DB DOES A GREAT JOB WITH KEEPING YOU ASKING FOR MORE. (WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? THEN WHAT?) THAT'S WHAT YOU'LL BE ASKING. GREAT READING I GIVE THIS BOOK 5 STARS
Rating: Summary: Entertaining but fairly predictable Review: Baldacci has constructed a book that draws you into the character's lives, feeling thier pain, desires and frustrations. It is a book worth reading, certainly, but there are few real surprises. The insight into the US Supreme Court was intriguing...kind of makes you wonder about the games that really go on there. The Simple Truth is an easy to read page-turner with enough twists to entertain, although the end was a bit predictable.
Rating: Summary: The Simple Truth simply stinks! Review: I have read all the Baldacci books and this one is his worst. There is little action or suspense. The cast of characters range from a long term military prisoner to Supreme Court Justices and their underlings. We also have as the main characters an ex-cop turned lawyer and an idealistic Supreme Court Clerk. Needless to say we also have shadowy military figures, a U.S. Senator and of course the usual hardworking detective and perhaps a good or maybe evil FBI Agent. The book lacks a great villain and the suspense is never there.
Rating: Summary: Excellent, griping to the end. Review: I'm not much of a reviewer, but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Bought it at airport for travel reading and couldn't put it down. I was afraid it was going to be anti-climatic because all the info given up front. The book did not dissapoint, I enjoyed it to the last page.
Rating: Summary: VERY GOOD! Review: A LEGAL THRILLER THAT PRODUCES A SUSPENSEFUL GOOD STORY WITHOUT SPENDING TOO MUCH TIME IN THE COURTROOM.
Rating: Summary: Good book -- but not many surprises Review: I liked this book. It held my attention and I read it in a couple of days. But I liked Absolute Power better. While I liked this book, I figured it out pretty quickly, which I don't usually do. But, it's a good book for a quick, entertaining read.
Rating: Summary: I could not put this book down! Review: This is the first book I have read by this author, but it will not be my last. It held my interest to the very end. (I read it in only 2 sittings.) It did remind me of Grisham's novels, but it is better than the last 2 or 3 Grisham books I have read. It would also make a great movie.
Rating: Summary: A bit dissapointment. Review: Baldacci promissed during the whole book that the simple truth will be one that can not be imagined. Yet I found the simple truth very simple. However, after reading all Baldacci's work (Absolute Power & Total Control are GRATE!) I can never give a low mark, and I will forever be aspecting his next book.
Rating: Summary: Great!!! Review: After reading all of his books, I have become one of his biggest fans. I simply cannot put his books down, but the thing I really liked about 'The Simple Truth' is that there isn't as much minute detail as the others. They're all great, and I think he's the most promising author to come along in a while (I read every night and read all kinds of books by lots of different authors). I can only HOPE he can write a little faster than he has to this point. His books are SO believable, you can see everything going on, and can feel what the characters are feeling. Yep, I think this book's great as well as the author. Keep it up David--you're on a roll!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Audio Abridged Version Holds Your Interest Review: With music and sound effects, and a Bogart like voice, the reader holds your interest through all 4 tapes, but you have to get through a slow start on the first side of tape 1. Then it moves! Surprisingly, the abridged version holds together on tape and you don't seem to notice anything missing. Not as good as The Winner (unabridged) but good just the same.
