Rating: Summary: NOT AMONG HIS BEST Review: STARTED OF WELL BUT BECOME TOO PREDICTABLE. SEEMS LIKE GRISHAM IS ONLY WRITING LEGAL THRILLERS FOR THE SAKE OF THE MONEY - HE HOPES TO BAG $90 MILLION FROM THIS PROBABLY. I HAVE READ ALL HIS BOOKS AND NONE COMPARES TO A TIME TO KILL.
ALL THE REST ARE A EASY READ BUT NOT MUCH DEPTH IN HIS LATEST EFFORT. I'D LOVE TO SEE SOME MORE LIKE A TIME TO KILL,PELICAN BRIEF OR THE FIRM.
Rating: Summary: don't bother Review: I read the other reviews and still don't understand what anyone liked about this book! A Grisham fan, I was very disappointed by this dismal effort. There was no real impetus to root for any character. The book is like a slow ride downhill. You can see the ending, and there is no thrill. I kept waiting for 'the good part'. A nice little twist at the end.....but it's too little, too late
Rating: Summary: GRISHAM HAS ANOTHER HIT! Review: Another "can't put it down" type of mystery from John Grisham. Since he wrote his first, "A Time to Kill" though interestingly, not his first publication, he in my eyes still shines with a wonderful way of weaving mystery together with the law. His characters begin to take on lives of their own giving the reader only one option but to keep reading so not to miss anything. This story has all the makings of another hit film as well for this best selling author. The part that I love about Grisham is that he uses his last page for the best parts! This is a rock solid novel all the way to the final page
Rating: Summary: Interesting plot, but very predictable Review: Not the John Grisham of "Hard To Kill" and "Pelican Brief", never the less a very interesting plot. The ending is given away much too early. I would like to see Mr. Grisham spin a plot around Leah on the run hiding from Michael and/or Sandy
Rating: Summary: Very good Review: I read for pleasure. And this was. I expected to read a few pages at a time, but NO, I had to keep at this one. I have fantisized about chucking it all and taking off (not taking anyone's money, but still...). Was I surprised at the end? YES, nieve I may be, but my reaction was : "WHAT??!!" and then a big laugh at Eva! Very enjoyable! Although I do like a "...happily ever after.." story, this was great
Rating: Summary: VERY GOOD READING ENJOYED VERY MUCH Review: It was very hard to put the book down after the first
few pages. The ending was somewhat predictable
but still surprising
Rating: Summary: Grisham is now writing only for the money! Review: Like Tom Clancy and Harold Robbins before him, there comes a point in some authors life when there is nothing left--Except the calls from the publisher/editor to churn out another book. Grisham obliged with a very mediocre "The Partner" in 1996. In 1997, Grisham will do it again. That is to say, write a novel in 6 months and take 6 months off. I really can't say as I blame him. It's the system at fault.
"The Partner" is an okay, easy weekend read and nothing else. The book is okay, but there is not much there.
Grisham is destined to be known as just another unimportant 20th century author, in my opinion. A pity after such a strong start with "The Client."
Rating: Summary: Very intriguing Review: My husband purchased the book on Sunday afternoon, and I had finished it by Tuesday. I found Patrick and Eva to be normal yet extravagant people. You get to see both of them in two different lights. You begin with empathy and end with a sense of who really got what was coming to them. I found the ending to be very different than most of John Grisham's books and I liked it, the twist in the end really made you think. Just wish that John Grisham would publish more than one novel per year
Rating: Summary: excellent!! a real page turner Review: GRISHAM STRIKES AGAIN WITH A FAST-PACE,TIGHTLY WRITTEN PAGE TURNER. HE KEEPS YOU DANGLING TIL THE END. YOU WANT TO CHEER
FOR THE GOOD GUY BUT THE ENDING IS SUPERB.
Rating: Summary: Tiramisu. Review: This book is like dessert for dieters. Anticipated. Sweet. Longed for, even. And then...tiramisu. Yum. Tastes good. But wait -- there's nothing to chew on. No chunks. Some flavor, but mostly air. I had hoped for a nice, dense chocolate cake with layers of flavor, a variety of texture. And a lingering sense of fulfillment. There's nothing wrong with tiramisu -- it just doesn't really count as dessert. Worth eating. And there is nothing wrong with this book, except it just doesn't fill you up. Better have some cookies hanging around
